OK, talk about wanting to punch someone which I have never done by the way. Went for my new Ultrasound today which doctor ordered. This lets call her a thing of some sort. Came out to get me, first thing she says is we don't just do ultrasounds because you have a knot. I thought I would lose it, but I just said my doctor order says ultrasound. Then after some more crazy talk she went to talk to someone and came back. Guess what this same person did my ultrasound. then said probably just fat but need to show to radiology. She came back said we need biopsy. Then tells me I am in Luck because they were 5 weeks behind now there just 10 days behind. We will call you tomorrow to set up. I know I was in Crazy Town this afternoon.

beep, my sympathies! Medicine is truly a mess right now because the personnel (even doctors) are terrified of catching COVID, and only recently have facilities opened up to handle "elective" matters right now. Fingers crossed that you get an appt. sooner rather than later and it turns out to be just fat necrosis or scar tissue.

I have amped up my technology game the past few months. It seems like one thing leads to another.

    1. Got new HA's. They are Bluetooth compatible, so I went back to US Cellular, and told them I am ready to resume cellphone. Got a new i-Phone. Of course, I had to download a bunch of apps, like transcription apps, of which there are many. The phone also works as a microphone.

    2. My audi suggested that I get more adaptive equipment, because I am totally out of contact with the world, other than Tippy, when I am sleeping (and he is not that reliable). So I got a gizmo that produces flashing lights, a buzzing pillow, and loud sound in my bedroom when the phone rings. It also has a doorbell.

    3. During "Safer at Home", I realized that I would watch the TV more if the screen were bigger. So I bought a 32 inch TV. It has an app.

    4. I got an air conditioner. It also has an app. I don't know how many days a year it will be necessary, but it is going to be welcome, has already been great for two days so far.

    5. Today the maintenance man installed the doorbell which goes with my alarm system (which is also a clock).

I don't know how much this is going to cost me on a monthly basis, hopefully I can curb my spending until I get the budget rebalanced.

    Hi Beep,

Had to get a follow up ultrasound too. You are made sooooo aware that they don't want you there (like you want to be there). I was expecting them to spray me with Lysol. Hope all goes well and that you have an answer soon.

oh gee, I have an ultrasound set for next monday, they want to check my port as it was looking really red and funky. Not sure as I kept pointing it out but not till this last infusion did someone say we need to check it out. Actually it is looking better now doesnt hurt so much so I am now not putting any sort of bandage over it at night, everything was rubbing it. Course my retired nurse friend says they should be flushed more often. The np told me that during the corona they are only doing them every 10 weeks, worried about that but now i get to see how they will actually do it!

You can be sure I will be in crazytown till next week for sure!

beep, in your pocket for good results. 6mmx6mm is "T1b"--very small, just a "silly millimeter longer" (as the old cig commercial used to say) than downright tiny. And it may be benign.

My 2.5 year follow up visit today was essentially a non-event, just the way I like it! May next month's mammogram be the same.

Iris ...so nice not to have to cook ! We went out to dinner last night with other family members ..It was our first meal out of an evening at a restaurant since Covid restrictions started ...it was so nice to feel things are getting back to being a bit more normal ...even though owners can still only have 20 customers at a time . I feel so sorry for businesses in the hospitality sector ...

Went to a local steakhouse last night where we met our son Gordy & his girlfriend for a pre-Father's Day dinner (Gordy is working tomorrow). We sat outdoors on the tented patio, and were not required to wear our masks while eating & drinking. Though it was supposed to be hot out, the weather was delightful and perfect for outdoor dining. We hadn't seen the kids face to face (except through my storm door) in nearly 3 months. We had a lovely time, did not have to use valet parking (which I don't feel is safe yet) and have enough leftovers for a nice dinner tonight. Tomorrow we will go to brunch outdoors.

Next Friday--the day before our 49th anniversary--the city will begin allowing restaurants to have indoor dining at 25% capacity (elsewhere in the state at 50%), but I don't feel like taking that risk at my age (69) and blood type (A, which carries a 50% greater risk of a cytokine storm should I catch the virus and develop COVID-19). I don't even like elevators--I have to be the only one in them and press the buttons with my elbow. That's why I'm really nervous about my upcoming dental appt., since my dentist is on the 17th floor of a Loop office building. I'm not worried he or his staff will infect me--the risk is to them. But it's the elevator and corridors that worry me. (I will drive and self-park a few blocks away, rather than use public transit, taxi or ride-share).

I went grocery shopping today at a natural food store, which not just required masks but hand sanitizer and single-use plastic gloves. One customer at the other end of the store wore his mask on his chin. I was so tempted to ask him if he wears his underpants' waistband around his knees, but not only didn't I want to start a confrontation, I didn't want to be anywhere near him. I bought farm-fresh organic strawberries (red all the way through!)--and I nearly wept when I tasted one just now. I had actually forgotten how real strawberries are supposed to taste, no sweetener necessary. Even organic commercial supermarket strawberries (yup, Whole Foods' Driscoll ones) taste like styrofoam and are white in the center. Too bad these have such a short season. When I am down to my last few that haven't rotted, I will individually freeze them on a cookie sheet. Also bought duck eggs--haven't seen them anywhere else.

Iris - Glad you were able to enjoy a well deserved take away.

Must confess I am tired of cooking at home. Hoping to get a take away for our 30th anniversary on 6/30, which will be the first food foray since stay at home/social distancing began.

Sandy - Oh the wonderfulness of "real" strawberries! Congrats on your upcoming 49th anniversary!

At my childhood home, we had a huge strawberry patch in the backyard for quite a while. After constructing a large garage on the land, we (2 Aunts, 2 cousins and my family) would go to various pick your own farms for our strawberries. Our standard dessert during the summer was strawberries.

DH and I both have Dentist appointments upcoming this Wednesday. Their protocol for seeing patients is quite strict, but it is worrisome nonetheless.

ah, the lovelyness of fresh berries, so fine! One of my pals has promised to bring me some fresh raspberries from her back yard! I am drueling at thinking about them.

Gee the old peapod seems to be improving or maybe they just hired more delivery folks plus they are not out of so many things. Got delivery on sat and immediatly went on to book the next delivery. Easy peasy now.

Also managed to get my new and snazzy smart phone. My cleaning gals daughter knew the problem and fixed it in about 2 minutes! Clearly I am a little backward, but having fun learning the thing. Also managed to get out and pick up my anti depressent, felt hugely better as I was out for about a week. I need it to get past this time.

Good thing about this new drug program is not needing to go to center as often.

Have a great fathers day all!

When we lived in married student housing at UW Seattle back in the '70s, we had blackberry bushes in our parking lot--as well as my law school's parking lot in Tacoma and along the railroad tracks that became the Burke-Gilman trail. When we moved here, there were mulberry trees over the Ravenswood Metra station platform, and I'd eat a couple of berries while waiting for the train to take me to work. But mulberries, compared to blackberries, are boring--too sweet & mushy. Plus, when they fall from the trees, they splatter purple all over the place. You have to be really careful where you park in late spring--that stuff is almost as hard to rinse off your car as guano.
