Marijen I don't have any signs of lymphedema after 3 weeks. I had 7 nodes removed in my lumpectomy and my MO did refer me to a therapist to work on strategies to prevent lymphedema but my appointment isn't for a few weeks, I should probably reschedule for it earlier.

Marijen; fair enough. We do all react differently to things--hence why Aquaphor works well enough for most people. You needn't use topical lidocaine, and I expect there are others who'd respond as you do.

Though I'd never advocate using anything blindly/trustingly, I'd just hope that the people who' d benefit from the drugstore stuff remain amenable to using it. (Cold compresses work(ed) for several of us. Some of us require(d) more.)

So I was just saying what I had read for those who are interested, I was not saying don't use it. If you read my original post I have already order both Aquphor and Lidocaine Plus and will give both a try. I also have a big tub of coconut oil. And if all else fails I will ask for a prescription of something. This is the third time I have been faulted for sharing information. It's making me wonder if it's worth it....

I am not referring to you queenmomcat..

hi ladies! I just had my mammo and ct....I start radiation on Nov 6th, 33 treatments. Will be done Dec 28th. I had DCIS partial mastectomy with tissue transfer, and had to have a reincision as well.

Marijen - my hormone treatment will continue as normal during rads. And for the record, I love the information everyone shares, including you. I helps me to not feel alone in this process. Thank you!

Marjen, My RO didn't want me to take my anastrozole during rads but my MO and BS said to.

Did she say why? Maybe because rad's painful enough without the AI?

Marijen: thank you for sticking around to ask your questions! I appreciate them (and you!) I would like to apologize officially/openly on the list: you did say, quite clearly, in a previous message, that you'd purchased the lidocaine gel about whose side effects you had expressed concern.

Maijen, she said it's about not mixing up potential SE's. I am going to have to tell her when I see her that I did start anyway on the Anastrozole. So far my SE's have been mild for both and I am journaling each night to hopefully keep track of what is what.

Question : when you see your RO every week do you only mention SE's you are having right then or whatever you noticed the previous week?

Last day of whole breast then 5 days of boosts and I'm done. So glad because my skin is starting to look rough. No skin breaks yet so that's good but I do have bunch of blackish spots all over my skin.

    Have a great day everyone!

    Hi Everyone,
I'm a grad of summer rads. I was going through some of my moisturizing supplies and thought I might offer them up here instead of throwing them out. Especially because they were pricey. I've got an almost full tube of Miaderm (it didn't agree with my skin so I stopped using early on) and a little bottle of emu oil. I took the wrapper off the emu oil but never ended up using it. If you are interested send me a PM and I will mail one, the other, or both to you. I'll post again when they are no longer available.

when you look at studies, it looks like the jury is still out on whether it is helpful or harmful to do radiation and hormone therapy at the same time. Often they do not do that side effects will not be confused as to what's causing them

What about using Vitamin E oil on the skin during rads?

Hi Molly, I would be glad to get a break from letrozole and I've read that Stopping Treatment Can Reverse Acquired Resistance to Letrozole I will ask my RO and MO about it when it's time to meet with RO again. Most likely start is end of Nov or early Dec. IF ALL GOES WELL which it will.

Hello All :) hope your day is going well.

    i had #7 of 20 today.

i wonder if any of you know where i could buy a piece of bolus super flab ? do i need a medical licence to buy one ? i have a numb area where my breast was, and when the bolus is on me i feel connected and more aware of the numb area, and the area with normal nerves above and below my scar feel connected/normal while the bolus is on me. are there foobs made out of this material ? i checked it out today after my treatments, it feels damp.

Thank you for all the reports and updates .

Finished my boost today. Done!!!! Somewhat anticlimactic since I was supposed to finish Friday but with the pipe break in the unit it was postponed. My hubby had bought roses for me the night before. We were heading out of town and he planned to sneak them in while I went for my treatment. We were going away so instead of feeling free was a little sad. I did get over it once we were on the road. I don't know about others but I found the boost more uncomfortable than the whole breast radiation. I did get my diploma but had lost interest in ringing the bell. I was so psyched for it Friday.

Overall I did will. My skin held up nicely I have a big square tan. Just so glad to be done.

Saw the RO today. Staging CT scan on the 4th, and rads to start probably two weeks after that. 25 treatments over 5 weeks. After all the talk here of various skin-preserving creams, they offered me a study they're doing to see if a steroid cream is more effective than Eucerin at preventing skin breaks or putting them off until later. I did enroll, so will not know which one I get. Once there is wet peeling, they'll take me off the study and treat as need be.

Kind of wish we were starting sooner, but in the meantime, they want me to get started with lymphedema treatment, so it turns out they can run those in tandem.

Was very happy that the RO took the time to explain everything in great detail, and her nurse did more of the same.

quick follow up: I've been done my 20 session protocol for almost 2 weeks. I developed a pretty bad rash-like burn in the boost area starting on my last day, and still get some zinger aches. It got worse before it started to improve. The fatigue got worse to, but I think I am on the mend now. It's a good thing, because life has dealt other issues to deal with. Not much time to celebrate & recover from radiation. Moving on to helping other people with their problems. Gues that is progres.

Just finished Day 6 of Accelerated Rad treatment and I'm a little pink today. Crossing my fingers it doesn't get worse before the week is finished
