Haha I always had that problem with my Lucy. Too dark to photograph at times and boy didn't she know it. Merry Christmas Squeakers!

My sister, the cat person, recently came home with a stray CHICKEN. Cats are a gateway drug!!

Santabarbarian, that comment is too funny about cats! 🐈🐓

feeling feline... CLAW-DIA? I thought of CLOD-IA?, because one of my kitties is clumsy

yes I was guessing Claw-Dia too! (This gets even funnier still in Ireland because Dia means God in Irish).

Any of you who are praying ladies, my Arthur is very sick since yesterday morning.
He has a deteriorating heart condition that the heart specialist vet thinks was probably initiated by damage caused to the heart by a virus. He was a stray of 9 months when he came to us so we do not know his full history.
He is only 5 but we have known since his last scan showed progressive deterioration that he would not live to be very old. The heart specialist vet's best, most optimistic prognosis was a year.
He had either a heart attack or a thrombosis yesterday morning. He is at home but with local vet supervision, not eating and having to use a lot of energy to breathe, and with difficulty getting comfortable because if he lies down he has to work harder to breathe.
I just would love some help making decisions, Local (lovely) vet has mentioned possibility of sending him up to University Vet Hospital in Dublin, but if his time is very short that seems like an unnecessary stress to put him through.
Vet, no more than me hasn't got a crystal ball so if any of you pray I would sincerely appreciate prayers for good decisions and for the best outcome for Arthur.
We are of course praying here too. XXX

Feline - I am praying very hard for you and Arthur. It's so difficult to watch them when they are not feeling well, especially if he's having trouble breathing. I know you don't want to see him suffer, and you will make the right decision when the time comes.
Sending prayers and hugs acros the big pond.
Ann

Feline, Paws crossed for Arthur. It's so hard to watch them struggle to breathe.

praying for you and Arthur. I would be so tempted to wrap him in a snugly blanket and prop him up on my chest until he swatted at me. That golden thread of love binds him through eternity to you. Give him snuggles from us.

Prayers for Arthur. If he should cross the rainbow bridge, have put the word out to my four dear departed felines to welcome him with a big MEOW.

Thank you all. Arthur is still with us. Vet visited him a couple of hours ago and said not to hesitate to call him in the night. Arthur is as comfortable as he can be given that breathing is an effort, but although there is discomfort he is not in pain. Hoping God might be so very kind as to allow him to slip from one side to another very peacefully.

feelingfeline, I know you haven't left Arthur's side. It's such heartbreak. He knows you are there keeping him comfortable and safe. Thinking of you. I'm sorry. Deb

Stay by his side and hold him close. He knows you are there and you love him. That's all that matters to him right now. And if he has to cross over, he will feel your love.
My heart and prayers are with you. Sending hugs and love across the pond,
Ann

Spookie that is so true.
Thank you ladies for all the kindness and support. I am humbled by your love and kindness.
In memory of Arthur
Arthur was born approx 2nd Aug 2013. Adopted us his human family on 2nd May 2014 and died yesterday 31 Dec 2018 aged 5 Years, 4 Months, 29 Days.
He had 2 1/2 days of suffering, which had become so bad that in the end it was not at all difficult to make the decision to ask the immensely caring vet who had been attending him to help him across the line.
I am very glad that it turned out 13 yo DD was away, and I think the holiday period was an incredible blessing. I was able to be with him continuously and the vet who was on duty (not our usual vet) and attended him twice a day was truly exceptional.
We are fortunate to have little Elliott also tabby (age 1) to keep us on our toes now that Arthur is not here to keep things shipshape.
A house is not a home without a cat.
And heaven will not be heaven without my cats either.
