    Cowgirl,

Thank you so much for telling me. She is very precious with such gentle ice blue eyes. So so so gorgeous and sweet. Her little purr motor is so loud. She seems so very happy and grateful and relieved to be done with her past life. I am so very happy for her.

I am going through everything I own for many months now. It started out being impossible. It has gotten easier. Still hard but easier. My kitties help me just as much as they can...

So glad to hear you are smiling.

Gumdoctor I am so happy to hear that Cleocatra is now forever yours. She is a beautiful girl and you can see her contentment in her eyes. Your Max looks to be a special boy as well. I am glad he is focused on snuggling with you. Our kitties are very intuitive when we aren't feeling well. I am tremendously sorry to hear of your liver issues. I will be keeping you in my prayers.

Gumdoctor, I am sorry you are going through some tough times, and hope you are feeling better. Your Cleo is beautiful, and so is your ragdoll, grateful you have full custody now. My co-worker uses a heated mattress pad on her bed, if that would be of any help, I don't know, maybe? My cats would love that, I just have to talk hubby into letting me get one, they are a little expensive.

Wren44, I have two of those warming disks and they work well. https://www.chewy.com/snuggle-safe-dog-cat-small-a... Good idea! I bought a not very good kitty house for outdoors, heated pad, and have it on the front porch, and my NEIGHBOR'S cat loves it! She has a nice garage to get in.

We use them for our 2 outside feral cats, inside igloos with kitty beds.

Our feral lady had kittens 3 weeks ago. It is my fault for not trapping her over the summer and having her spayed - and I will not make that mistake again. She is pretty skiddish. The temperatures in Missouri are going to drop this week below freezing. If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it. I haven't tried putting the snuggle safe in there with the kittens, I am scared to interfere too much. They are in a kitty bed, in an igloo, under the yellow thing in the straw. I saw her yesterday as we pulled in the driveway, in the neighbor's yard, and wondered if she was thinking of moving them. The straw house provides shelter, and a small fence around our backyard keeps out the neighborhood dogs. She did try to move then once, about a week or so ago, into the charging station of an old RV we have in our driveway, and after the dogs started coming around in the front yard, my husband put his gloves on and went out and put those in a box, we readjusted the igloo with a clean, bigger bed, and moved everything around so she would be elevated in the straw - the ants were invading her igloo, and we replaced it with a clean one, up higher, and I have not seen them return.

Our male stray has been hanging around for about a year. He spent last winter with us, in the igloo with the snuggle safe, although he has been out traveling the past 3 days. He will have to go see the vet too, he does let me pet him, and pick him up now. I just need to make the appointment on a morning he is present, I tried doing it 3-4 times over the summer, and he knew to not show up. This girl has learned sitting on the birdbath from him.

Maybe I can admit here without anyone judging, I have 9 cats (you can see the catio in the photo, and the smaller catio for one that likes her solitude). It is my hope to befriend these kittens, have them spayed and neutered, and find homes for them. I am thankful she is a good mama and takes care of them. She will have to go see the vet before spring though, we are not doing this again. Thank you for letting me share.

No judging here. Thank you for making safe places for those feral kitties. I live in KC, and you're right, we have weather coming this week. So hopefully mama kitty takes full advantage of that safe place you made for her.

And I'm jealous of your catio, that looks amazing! If I were more willing to deal w/ preventative flea treatment, I'd figure out how to make one for us.

Thank you, edj3, if you ever want a catio, please let us know, my husband learned how to do them, and thank you for no judging. Be safe up there, you may get cold today. There is a good flea preventative made with diatomaceous earth, salt and baking soda, if I remember right, if I could help with that, please let me know, I saved that recipe when we had fleas. No pesticide version.

They had a catio tour here, benefiting a rescue shelter. Very interesting to see what people had come up with. There are lots of videos online.

The cats love the catio. It was a Facebook friend that helped us. My husband built one for our vet, she is such a wonderful angel, who has a full house. You do tend to have some critters lose their lives sometimes, mice, frogs, large flying insects, for which I am sorry.

Missouricatlady, I bet the cats do love the catio!

Robert my grand kitten is such a little man. Still funny as ever. He's spoiled.

    DebAl,

Please do not judge me a cat hoarder :) i will take Crazy Cat Lady though...

They are all extremely well-loved and cared for and fixed and vaccinated and indoors...

Husband has 2 16+ yr old kitties at one house, both rescues...I have 6 kitties at our other house...Max is 16.5 yrs old and the others are 5 yrs and younger. 5 are rescues and Max was a gift when he was 6 weeks old. While he is not a purebred Ragdoll, he is ALL RAGDOLL.

With our 2 home situation, 3 hours apart, I travel between both houses every week. 4 days with husband, 3 days with kitties is my typical routine. Everything revolves around my appts, treatment and side effect issues and a small social calendar. When with kitties, I am going through all my belongings to organize and purge for donation. Also working on many projects I started years ago. New mantra: You are going to work on this thing, wear this shirt, read this book, call this number...or it goes away...

Love your grandkitty Robert. Just gorgeous. One of my husband's cats is named Robert. Bob for short :)

I am doing alright. Chemo Abraxane infusion #10 yesterday. New side effects so new medication to control new side effects...husband extremely supportive...

Thank you for asking about me and my kitties...we only have these feline children so they are truly my babies.

I love all your kitties, Gumdoctor. If you get online today, you should look up the 15 days of sock at Target - 15 days of KITTY socks! (for Christmas)

I hope your chemo goes smoothly today, and your new medication helps all the side effects. Our husbands, what would we do without them! Please keep sharing about your cats. Hugs, Lisa

I love your descriptions of your kitties. And how your feline overlords help you knock out those tasks you've set yourself. I myself work better with a feline watching me (or sleeping near me as the case may be).

We're down to two kitties after losing my old girl this summer (day after rads was complete). Three kitties are a lot for the size of house we have, so we'll stick with two for now. Once one of them goes, I don't know--it will really depend on which one. They both can be brats and I'd hate to bring in a new cat and end up with a shit show if you know what I mean.

Geez, I only have one cat! I would definitely have a houseful of them if I could. My baby is mostly Maine Coon somewhere around 16-?. She was a rescue and is the best cat we've ever had. She's not a lap cat but she sure does know when I need her to be right next to me. My sister has two males and would also be a cat lady if she had room for more! My husband always teases us and says if he goes first, he knows we will run out and get all the strays and rescues we can find. And he's right. I'm always keeping my eye out for strays but I haven't seen any around here yet.

I think that all of you are so generous and caring to give those kitties so much love. They are all so lucky to have found you.

lol, yes Robert does know stuff!!

Gumdoctor, I think we are all crazy cat lady's to be here. I don't doubt that they all are getting the royal treatment. All of your kitties are lucky to have you for a cat mom. I hope your side effects are kept to a minimum and I'm glad hubby is so supportive. I also hope you are squeezing I'm some "cat naps" here and there. Sending you hugs

Its amazing that several of you have 16 year old kitties. Lap cat or not its so nice to have them close and they sure seem to know when we need them.

Snickersmom there is a stray that comes on our patio to our window late in the evening to visit one of my cats. My cat waits through the slats in my patio curtains. My husband says she is "waiting for Mr Goodbar" lol isn't it funny how they get into a routine? She waits every night at 8pm like clockwork

Even though I am not on this forum as much as I used to this is the thread I come to first. The pics and funny cat pics make my day. Happy National Cat Day everyone!!!!!

Alas, a dog moved next door. I’ve only seen the little community female twice since then. Was able to feed her the first time. Sadly, I was half way down my block getting into my car when she crossed the street to greet me. 😿 I one the male is still around. Imiss feeding them.

waiting for Mr. Goodbar, too funny!

Hoping it does not get too cold here tonight. Male stray (Mister) paid a visit last night after a 4 day traveling event. I've had that doghouse in the backyard over a year, and all he has done is spray in it. When his girlfriend moved her kittens a couple of weeks ago, I made extra "beds" in the backyard, including filling the doghouse with old bathroom rugs. He found his way inside that in the rain last night, so we heated up the snuggle pad and put a bed in there on top of it. So thankful he decided to go in there.

    Happy National Cat Day!

This photo was from my friend, John Hacker, who used to run our local paper, before they went out of business. He usually posts photos of lightening storms. He had this to say...

"This was a picture I grabbed off the side of the road in Kansas last month. It's so hard to see these cats and this is only the second time I've gotten a picture of one. It's a bobcat. I saw this one sitting on a big round hay bale just off the road. By the time I got turned around to get a shot, this pretty kitty had disappeared, but it reappeared behind this tree."

missouricat - That's so neat! I seem to remember that we had bobcats around where we lived in New Hampshire when I was little. Here we have fox and coyote but no bobcats.

We get a lot of coyotes coming out of the woods near my neighborhood. One of my friends that lives right near the woods periodically sees them trotting down his street. I keep saying the coyote is still trying to nab the road runner!

I run really early (like 4:30 AM) and even though I live in an urban area, I've seen coyotes on my run (also racoons which I dislike, and possums which I love because they eat ticks, and once I saw a juvenile owl on the ground and gosh those are huge).
