One of my kitties, Nadia, loves to play with water. So I have basically moved her water dish to the bathtub where it's harmless. She likes to lick her water off her paw or slosh it around. More than anything she loves me to pour a slow trickle of water into one end of the tub and "chase" it to the drain. It's like she's a toddler in the bathtub, she is fascinated with the rivulets and drips. How weird is this behavior? I have had cats all my life but never a had window climbing/ water obsessed one like her -- nor a raspberry-eater either (her sister). Two very quirky girls!

santabarbarian one of mine is too! He will shove his head under mine when I'm brushing my teeth, and since he's a big cat, it can be a big shove. This is a few years ago and not caught in the shoving act but shortly afterwards.

I got Snickers a water fountain, too. It''s just got kind of a water spout coming out into ta litle pool. She loves it. She always paws at the floor before she drinks. Anyone else's cat

Snickersmom, I am next door in Citrus County. We also have property in Levy. We were planning to build, but that came to a halt, yesterday. $20K to clear the property. That blew the budget. So back to the drawing board. On the cat scale - a 5.

Miss Felix and Midnight Louie have been getting along a little better. Which makes our lives easier. She hates him, but is doing better about ignoring him.

That should have been - does anyone else have a cat who paws the floor before it eats/drinks? Or is she just weird?

When we first got our cat water fountain, they pawed at the water and did funny little walk arounds as they figured out how on earth to drink.

My ginger cat, Wally, paws before eating and I believe that's how cats mark things as theirs. Too bad, his litter mate Eddie eats anyway.

I've had cats who pawed at their food and others who did it with water. I've read that cats are very farsighted and really can't see well close up. So it could be that they're seeing a blur and trying to gauge exactly where it is. We've had a couple of cats who wanted to drink out of the sink. Fine idea but they don't turn the water off when they're done. Our foster, Colby, had a fountain (very basic one) and would meow to have it turned on in the morning. Squeakers has always preferred his bowl.

    August is beautiful.

    Loving the water fountain photos!

Thank you for being a foster, you will help so many people (and animals)!!!

I have one that loves to play in her water. The last kittens I had loved it too, and I bought a bowl that was suspended, now she has that!! Plus a new little bed.

I always wanted a "sink" cat - maybe one day!

Um, consider hair and footprints?-- this makes having a sink/tub cat a bit of a pain..... But it is truly hilarious how she RUNS at warp speed tinto the bathroom, leaps into the tub, paces and and meows expectantly-- every time I go in my bathroom.

My Lester is a splasher. I have to put the cat and dog waterbowls in shallow plastic bins, then a sheet of plexiglass against the wall behind the bins because he splashes water everywhere. He has done it since he was a kitten. I swear he practically dunks his head in. No sinks though.

My late darling Beastie (aka Lakmé) used to drink with her paw. She scooped water with her paw to her mouth. Only cat I ever had that did that.

Thanks for your answers, everyone! Our late Mrs. Beasley also scooped water out of a glass with her paw, and that's how she liked to take a drink. I'll have to do some research on feline habits!

Snickers used to drink out of my watering can, which I kept filled for her but then I finally got a little fountain thing that has the water coming out of a spout. She likes to just sit and look at it sometimes and never had a problem switching from the watering can to the fountain.

You all have such interesting cats!!

Our Grady is also a “water boy”. He loves to sling water from the toilets and the dogs water bowl and washes his toys in the dogs water bowl. He “ helps” DH shave every morning.....sits on the counter, watching and then starts putting his paws (and sometimes his head) in the running water. Needless to say, we are wiping up water all the time

I find my cats' "prey" in their water or food bowls all the time.... (toys, drain stopper, etc)

Oh yes! One of mine routinely drops a toy into the food bowl (never the water fountain although he's dropped kibble in there which means the fountain has to be washed ASAP. That's probably why he does it.)

I haven't been here in a very long time. If you'll remember both my boys passed within 3 weeks of each other. Then the cat that I was taking care of passed away as well. We were catless and heartbroken. Then an adorable little stray crossed yard in October. He's ours now! His name is Freddy and we're so in love!

Freddy had been peeking in our door for a few months. He would always run if you walk toward the window. October 16th he was walking through our yard and my husband spoke to him Freddy turned to the silent meow and walked off. Next thing we knew Freddy was in his lap. He was so adorable and I said what should we call him my husband said I don't know but look at those Freddy Krueger claws so I said that's it his name is Freddy! We posted around the neighborhood put his picture on Facebook and in the next door app hoping to find his owners ( not really we wanted him!) He's such a sweetheart imagine somebody's heart was broken because they didn't have their cat at home. 30 days we looked and no one came forward to claim him. We took him to the vet look for a chip he wasn't chipped nor neutered so we took care of all that and he's been with us full-time since mid-november. Since he was an outdoor cat were surprised to his taken to the indoor as well as he has. He is completely happy inside run in the house. Everyone loves him and he even tolerates the grandkids well.

My grandcat wandered into my DDs yard the day after hurricane Irma. Very friendly, sort of soggy after the storm. Had been neutered, no chip. He picks on their girlcat, but will play fetch with you.
