edj3, How are Stevie and Annie?

I think they are on the road to full recovery. Annie's anus does this thing when she poops where a bit of the sheath comes out but then it goes back in. I think Stevie is (finally) gaining weight. The true test will come when we take in poop samples.

Squeakers will be getting an extra week or so of medicine. His pneumonia is much better but not gone. I feel very guilty because he's been snoring loudly for some time and most of it is gone with the medicine. He may have been sick for a while before we took him to the vet. He hates the medicine.

Wren it is so hard to tell when they feel poorly sometimes. Cats especially are good at hiding symptoms. He is lucky to have you!

That looks a lot like my cutting mat, except mine wait until there is fabric and sharp things on it to "help"

Ever had the kitty jump in the middle of the pattern and rip it? I think it was my first cat who did that.

I learned from all the years I have had cats and tried to wrap Christmas presents on the floor. All my cats loved to try to “help”, so this year I put up the card table where I usually do jigsaw puzzles to wrap them. No four pawed “helpers”

Good morning, cat ladies. Miss Felix goes to the Vet Monday for her shots and labs. Her appointment was for Thursday, but it was cancelled due to Eta. I have to give her the anti-anxiety pill a few hours before going. Hope all is well with my senior cat.

Hey, ladies! I haven't been here for a while, but I need some advice! Last spring a skinny little black cat showed up around my house. It turns out that she had 2 perfectly black kittens under my deck (I think). I started feeding them (because I LOVE black cats), and although they like the kitten food I put out for them all, they won't let me get anywhere close to them.

Well, now it's finally getting pretty cool in Tennessee, and I'm worrying about them being without shelter. The thing is that they could belong to some neighbors-- People tend to let their cats roam around here. I don't think anyone owns them, but I don't know for sure. Anyway, is there a type of shelter I should buy for them? Do you know what features I should look for?

It's apparently a family of 2 black offspring (now grown and indistinguishable), a black mama cat, and a larger black daddy-cat who comes around sometimes, too. The offspring and mama look exactly alike, so I can't tell them apart. Unfortunately, none of them will let me get within even 15 feet of them!

I know I should catch them and have them neutered, but how? I do have a trap somewhere in the attic, but what do I do if I can't get it fixed within a day??? I have GREAT respect for the damage an angry cat can do! Also, I worry a bit about inadvertently carrying any diseases they may have to my own inside cats, Piper (tuxedo) and Dobby (black). Dobby has pretty serious kidney disease, so his vet has held his vaccinations this year, and I don't know how vulnerable he is.

    Thanks!!!

    Leslie

there's a lot of ideas on the Facebook page of 'cats haven' in Indianapolis. On that page, they have linked several articles about that very thing! https://m.facebook.com/CatsHavenIndy/

If there's a shelter in your city, ask them if anyone is doing TNR (trap neuter release). I wouldn't try to catch them myself. They are feral and probably never vaccinated. If you have an Animal Control in your city, you could ask them (anonymously if you want) for advice. They might be willing to catch and neuter if you're OK with them coming back to your house for feeding. You especially want to get the females spayed or there will be litter after litter. There are some online videos about making a shelter for feral cats out of a cooler lined with a foam cooler and something for insulation between them. It details where to put an opening for the cat to be safe from predators.
