Spookiesmom, South of me. I am in Homosassa, a few miles from the Gulf.

Felix has always left decorations alone. Louie is a different story. He gets into everything and tries to eat everything.

We used to have the bottom 2 feet of the tree decorated with silk over styrofoam balls. This after hearing crash after crash. We had a dog who convinced our kitten he was a dog also. They got into the box of antique ornaments and broke them all. They were from DH's parents and very fragile glass. Squeakers likes to get under the tree but doesn't bother the ornaments.

I shouldn’t laugh about the cats knocking trees down. My tree was in front of a window. My Aussie and DDs dog liked to jump up to look out. One of them took the tree down. Aussie was 7 months, still teething. Broken ornaments everywhere. Aussie ate quite a few. 3 nights at vet, who removed a bunch of broken glass, 11 straight pins, and a jingle bell. He was ok, lived to be 14 1/2. My ❤️ dog.

Woo hoo! I survived my turn today being the adoption team for our shelter. They posted 4 kittens. We got a total of about 20 applications. They decided after posting that they should go as pairs which helped a little bit. it's a lot of people to email back that they're being adopted.

Petite - my Snickers is 19 but Miss Felix has her beat - 22!! Wow. She must have had some great genes in there somewhere. We live in Florida and so thankfully, Snickers doesn't have to deal with the cold northern temperatures even though we lived in Connecticut when we rescued her. She was about 6 then and we were only there for another year or two. Anyway, I'm glad to hear that Miss Felix is doing okay. Snickers is down to 7.1 lbs but she still eats well so our vet said no more vaccinations for her either.

My daughter just lost her beloved Lucy, a 20 year old Russian Blue. It was a difficult couple of weeks but they think she had a stroke. We are sure she is playing all day with our dear little Willie over that Rainbow Bridge. It's going to be so hard to visit our daughter eventually and not see Lucy. She was a remarkable cat - she always somehow knew to alert Nancy when her (Nancy's) insulin pump malfunctioned or when her sugar was too low. Aren't they just the most wonderful creatures? I can never be without a cat.

Snickersmom: I had a Russian Blue named Shadow that we got as a rescue kitten around Thanksgiving. She was tiny with bright blue eyes that eventually turned emerald green, so a very striking cat. The first Christmas we had her she spent inside the Christmas tree as a moving ornament. She never touched the other ornaments but my DD would say "look, Mom, there's her face again" and out it would pop from another branch on the tree. She was our mobile ornament that year. She would spend hours in the tree or curled up under it sleeping.

She developed a thymoma shortly before her 12th birthday and I opted not to treat it aggressively since it would not really buy her time and would have an impact on QOL. I came home from work to find her curled up in the master bedroom in one of her favorite spots. I still miss her to this day. She was the most beautiful cat I have ever had and the one who was most attached to me, she was my shadow.

Now I know why your cat is called Snickers. It is a beautiful cat, too.

Snickers condolences to you and your daughter's family. A house is not a home without a cat. (For me I just feel more complete and more like me around cats.)

Thanks to you all. We adore Snickers and I don't even like to think of what life will be like without her someday. She has finally pretty much stopped picking on the poor dog so the house is fairly peaceful. But every now and then, she smacks the dog just to let her know who's the boss here.

Feelingfeline - we took the auto ferry from Holyhead, Wales to Dublin about 5 years ago and it was a beautiful day but rough seas. I'm a good sailor but that morning I took 2 Dramamine and I still thought I was going to die. Our whole time in Ireland, all I could think about was that I was going to have to take the ferry back to Holyhead and I was really dreading that. Thankfully it was a very smooth crossing! Too bad we didn't know each other back then!

Snickersmom - thank goodness you got a smooth sailing back! I suppose if you had to have one bad crossing better to get it out of the way first!

Good morning, cat ladies. It is 36 and these Florida cats are running all over the house. (well not Felix, she waddles.) The new pain medications are working. Felix is playing with Louie and is much more active.
