Alyson, he blends with the carpet.

So Miss Starkist is believed to have an UTI. Had to bring her to the vet this morning after she pee'd on me, in bed. He couldn't get a urine sample out of her so he started her on antibiotics anyway. She's been peeing outside the litter box for about a week. I thought it was because she was mad at us. But I think peering on me says hey, I hurt! Make me better! She's not crazy about the make me better part, but she seems to be feeling better after starting the meds.

Hi! I've ran a rescue for several years, but had to cut back drastically with the BC diagnosis. Cool thing is tho, a lot of other people stepped up to help and it's helped us grow! I'm still housing quite a few, but most are with fosters. We average close to 400 placements a year😄 not bad for a small rescue with just 2 adoption centers!!image

There is a product called pill pockets, formulated for dogs, or cats. They look like play doh, smell vile, but when my dogs need pills, they snarf them down. Find them at big box pet stores.

    monax5 - adorable! And what a tolerant kitty :-)

I asked for liquid antibiotics. Much easier to give kitty than a pill in my opinion.

Love the pics........love kittys......If Esmerelda wasn't so timid, I'd consider adding another one, but she really seems to need to be an only kitty. I've had her since Novemember of last year --she was at a Feline Rescue place for 3 months (they were picky about placing her--wanted her with older couple, or quiet single adult) She goes ballistic if you try to pick her up......They say she is a Lynx color point Siamese--she is quite vocal, but soft most of the time. My other Siamese was a chocolate point and he had the biggest meow. Didn't use it often, but when he did, he meant whatever he was saying......

Personal space is great, Julie! And take your cat to work day.

All the kittens do find homes. Most of the time, the kittens pick you; you don't pick them, and there's someone for everyone. :)

Kitten Inn has an open day every Sat and Sun and the place is mobbed. We get some hard to adopt kittens sometimes, so they sometimes don't go as quickly. For those, they put up additional information on the Facebook page and an ad on TradeMe (kind of like EBay, but much smaller) and/or reduce the price and/or let people come outside of open hours. Or a volunteer falls in love and takes the kitten. :) We had some semi-feral ones last year and it took a couple of weeks, but with the extra advertising, they found the right people. One of them had hidden the whole time the Kitten Inn was open. A couple with their 10 year old son came the next day and when they opened the cage (they're huge dog cages), the kitten jumped out and landed on the boy. They were warned that the kitten might be skittish and there may be other kittens which would be better, but the little boy wanted that one. They sent us a picture two days later of the kitten laying on its back on the boy's lap. We've had subsequent pictures, and they're best buddies. :) I'll see if I can find one. We also had a skittish older one who we were fearing would never be adopted; growled and hissed and hid in the corner. Then one day, a lady came over, and it came right to her. Just waiting for the right human to come along. We placed about 1,000 kittens and momcats last year.

We got a 7 week old orange tabby boy at the shelter Friday afternoon. We decided he was "cold" and must be carried around by each volunteer to keep him "warm" and not crying. Spoiled silly. Didn't have a lot of cats, so really easy to find the time.
