I once had a orange tabby cat (who thought he was a puppy) and a yellow lab/shepherd mix (who made the cat his puppy). Best of all - they matched the sofa. We almost lost the cat to a broken heart when the dog died. He also took over some of the dog's duties - he would go to the front window and growl at dogs walking by.

Evidently, cats have special status in Turkey. Check out this video of stray cats wandering across the stage at the G20 summit – video http://trib.al/fLNz9GW

Too funny! Although we would probably all be better off if cats did rule the world!

Cats are special in Turkey. They are protected and everyone feeds them. The city wanted to round them up and the people protested.

Cats do rule...it's just that those folks in Turkey are smart enough to have accepted it.ThumbsUp

Saw a pic of Obama and Putin having a discussion at some big meeting, cats were wandering around behind them. The news feed was a bit upset the cats were there. So what? Are the cats going to report state secrets? Or look for a munchie.

Spookie, There's a summit in Turkey. Turkish people treat cats like Indians treat cows. They have all kinds of laws protecting them. Someone posted a short documentary on the whole thing awhile back. it's intriguiging.

Here is a cat question: have any of you had hardwood floors refinished and, if so, because of the fumes, is it safe for cats to stay in the house (in a separate area) during the process?

Ruthbru- When I did mine I took the cats out of the house. The fumes were too much for me, figured it would be worse for them! They were pretty potent for the first 24 hours.

I'd say if it's NOT ok for you, it won't be for them.

I would agree @ floors. Think about it this way: would you put a newborn baby in another room and figure it was ok? If not, then the cats shouldn't be there either. Not trying to sound harsh - this is based on toxicology which looks at dosage per kg of body weight. That's one reason why occupational exposure concentrations are higher than residential - you're looking at adults only for occupational and you have to protect babies with residential. Thank you Dr Shull - my favourite toxicology professor. :)

Thanks ladies. It's my DS who is doing his floors. Yikes! If his two cats have to spend a week over here with my two cats.......it is going to be interesting to say the least!

Remember the kitten found floating on a log and rescued by the teenagers? He's up for adoption tomorrow!
