Wren, she is an Abyssinian and very regal. They are called Lion cats because of their colour. Issy is such a beautiful cat.

Issy is beautiful! Aby's are indeed regal and smart.

Here's a KI kitten. It's a she (rare for a ginger) and only five weeks old, but she's HUGE. And I love her face...this is her normal expression and it cracks me up.

My Gus had  a long hair ginger mother. All the kittens were ginger or torties. He is extremely fluffy.

Izzy has just made me put my knitting down.

Shhh.....don't tell my cats, but I set up their annual trip to the vet for Saturday (once they know they will begin shedding immediately!).

Maybe they should ask Santa for a second heated bed. Unless that would ruin their territory games.

Kiwi, Are the paws on the ginger kitten as large as they look? If so, she's going to be huge.

Wren - they are that big. She is going to be gigantic. Here's another cute face..one of the fosterers sent this in on weigh-in day.

Where is the dogs, dogs, dogs, forum? Or do all BC ladies have cats? I have neither but once had cats too. Allergic, so they stayed on the screened porch

I think there is a dogs page...and plenty of BC ladies with dogs too!

This might look like a rather 'ho hum' photo, but it's actually quite wonderful. The momcat has 3 babies and they put the little gray and white feral rescue kitten in with them. And momcat is feeding him. His chances of doing well are greatly increased. Note that the cats are in a huge playpen to keep them together in the living room of the fosterer's house. So they're not caged per se, and momcat gets breaks from the kittens.

ladies, there doesn't appear to be a dog thread. So if you're a dog lover, why not start one and see who comes? You know, if you build it, they will come.

I take that back. Here's comfort dogs

Wren - here's a shot of the ginger girl with her mom. And she's only 5 weeks old in this picture. She will be gigantic.

Kiwi, Do you have any large breeds there? In the US I would bet she has some Maine Coon. They are enormous. I think the longest cat in the world was 63" to tip of tail and he was a Maine Coon. Here in the Northwest, many settlers were Norwegian fishermen. So we have a supply of Norwegian forest cats as well.

Panthrah, It would probably melt in San Diego. They can stay outside for hours in the snow.

I live off a beautiful canyon with lots of critters, large and small, so they would be in the saftey of the house with beautiful AC and a view :P

Julie, Smart move. Wouldn't surprise me if the cat could still climb the fence. With toddlers, it works to put the tree in the play pen and let the kid roam loose.

Oh my goodness, I have Gus's twin sister! She's my outdoor cat (by choice, she doesn't want to be inside). She showed up at my house last summer and decided that was going to be HER house. Also she's fixed, so probably someone moved out and left her behind. Her name is Pisah and she has jade green eyes. She is a very fierce guardian of my gardens and chases away possums, squirrels, birds and other stray cats. That is why usually her nose is all scratched up.

I love the Christmas tree in the cage! Also love that adorable cat bed. I haven't put our tree up yet, probably will this weekend, but it's always nerve wracking when our two go racing in and out around the bottom of the tree and play down there. Tree hasn't come down yet in the 4 years we've had them! Here is our Max posing with some pretty "shinies".

I love the XMas tree in a cage. I duct-taped my tree to the table it's standing on, and so far no cat has tried to knock it over or climb up it. Some little bastard did chew on the lights where they were plugged into the wall, and now one of my strands does not work, but I had 500 lights to start so it's all good.

Used to put our tree up by the stairs and tie it to the railing with fishing line. Only had one fail in 11 years and that's because I forgot to tie it in several spots.

Hah Scrunch - we duct-taped the top of the tree to the ceiling last year. Good inexpensive cat protection insurance!

Love the new photos ladies - your cats and your photography are wonderful.
