The kitties and I evacuated from Miami to Gainesville during the Hurricane. Pistachio made the best of it:

Nothing like a comforting dresser drawer. What a trooper!

We are crazy cat people. I started in the spring fostering for our local CPHS. After being diagnosed, I put fostering on hold. We did keep two brothers from the first litter I fostered. We already had three to start. Now there are five....oops!

Aaah. Teach I think that is what Wren calls a fabulous foster fail.

Feeling.... I agree with Wren! However, I was able to successfully foster 3 more litters before my diagnosis and return them.....lol. I am such a softy for animals. I love anything with fur

When I would take pictures of one of our cats, all I had to do was say, "work it, work it," and he would go into various poses. It was fun taking his picture

Chili looks so much like my Mocca, now departed. She was my first foster fail and my heart kitty. I still miss her after 6 years.

Hugs to you, Wren. There is something special about foster babies. I love doing it and can’t wait to start again after I finish rads

It does cut down the number of foster families. But the point of rescue is to find them a good home. And having 1st choice if you fall in love is a draw. People worry so much they won't be able to give them up and they're reassured by that. We're trying to recruit seniors to be foster parents. Many seniors don't have the funds to care for a cat, especially an older one. As long as they're fosters, the shelter pays the vet bills. Foster parents are responsible for food and litter. It's also a way to cut down on returns. People get the chance to see if they really want a cat. I've had 2 I kept and at least one I couldn't wait to get rid of.

Teach that is a GREAT photo. LOVE IT

Thank you! I could post a different pic of him everyday. He does the craziest stuff.

I just wanted to post this picture of Mr. Pants (short for panteloon). As you may remember I am a catsitter and I love the cats I take care of. When I first talked to his owner she said that I would probably not see him the entire time I took care of him. Obviously you can see he is not hiding. He is so cool.
Teach70, I too think you should post a pic each day of your cat.

Teach:
I also foster and ended up keeping my last foster (got diagnosed and had to take a foster break). But he had special circumstances, ah, that just made it easier for me to know he was getting a good home. Story is: someone called the police about a homeless man who apparently spray paints everything he gets gold. And you guessed it. He had spray painted a kitten gold. I volunteer for a county shelter that is a good one but still county.
Horrific when I got him. Maybe 12 weeks old. Hair gone in spots (chemical burns), one eye would need removal, neurological issues (they weren't sure why but he was knuckling -- not up on his legs/paws). Expectation was maybe 50/50. Totally fine with regard to his intelligence, if that makes sense. He's sharp!
Anyhoo--my BC.org pic is that guy. He's wild. Plays all the time. FAT. Beautiful, shiny coat. We did have the eye removed, and I expect he may have issues from toxic exposure sometime in the future. Unknown. I named him Banksy after the spray paint artist. They were calling him Goldie at the shelter and we could not live with that!
Fostering is wonderful. Good for the soul.

Eastcoast, Good for you, saving the little guy. Not everyone is willing to take on a cat with issues.

Wren:
Thanks. Except for the eye, you would never know about his past. He does have minor neuro with the back legs -- gives him this sexy, kinda stiff/leg walk. But if I didn't point it out, you may not notice.
He's a terror. I am not kidding. Very loving and demanding.
Other cat, 15, is at the vet. Looks like congestive heart failure. Idk. I'm only going on what doctor insinuated this morning. Everyone in the house is aging (me, hubby, old cat, old dog) except for the crazy young cat and my son. Ugh.

We lost a kitty to heart failure. They wanted to send her to a cardiologist and run expensive tests, but it wouldn't have changed the outcome. She was afraid of many things, cars and vets being at the top of the list.

Cowgirl, Beautiful cat

KBB, these cats are not fosters. Three of them were ours to start and we adopted two of our fosters. I can save a foster for you the next time I have a litter.

Cat pic of the day: Jinx and Ace

Here is a pic of my boys' litter mates. My daughter's friend and friend's aunt adopted the other two. The calico is Thea and the B&W is Storm. Storm was my buddy and it was so hard to turn him over to his new family. It was the only foster that I cried over.

Teach, beautiful pictures and the photo of Jinx and Ace looks like a subject for a painting.

Nothing more joyous than kittens. Nothing.

This is a group of kittens that I fostered in July. They all had homes within 3 days of returning to the shelter.
