O.O Wow. Grey. Just... Wow. I'm glad they're working with you.

Annie, I hope the soreness goes away soon. IBprofen seemed to help for the next couple days.

In other news, my night so far...
Dexamethasone: Take with Food Or Milk.
    Me: I remember nothing.
Stomach: Take with Food or Milk.
Me: But now I don't feel so good.
Stomach: TAKE WITH FOOD OR MILK!
    Me: *munches on chocolate*
Stomach: *almost gets violent* Take with Food OR MILK!
    Me: Ooooooh! Milk. Better.

    Wee Chemobrain!

Filling my belly with milk made it instantly better. I wonder if ice cream would have the same effect.
Stomach: I'll get you next time, my pretty!

Just 24 hours away from this group and it takes time to catch up! I love that we are all finding our way managing the SEs with the help of others in this group. So proud of all of you being strong, not being afraid to cry, and moving forward like we all know we have to.

I feel so fortunate to have a wonderful caring and smart MO. She spends time with me which is rare these days with physicians

Southerncharm , this is when i had my son buzz the rest of those pesty itchy hairs off my head! so. much. better. bald! It's more creative than hair, figuring out what scarf or hat to wear and how to accessorize.

I had to order Magic Mouthwash today as the saltbaking soda swish was not working. My tongue is so sore but MM does provide relief. 3rd infusion next Wed. I wonder if it will get worse

    Mom2boo thanks for the compliment!

Aga - the steroids can cause insomnia so my Mo recommended Benedryl which did help. I still wake up 3-4 tims a night to pee anyway so still haven't had a great nights sleep since chemo started. Oh something else I do when I get up at night is spray Biotene in my mouth to moisturize, it really helps.

    Press on my friends

well I'm laying here with an ice pack. I'm really sore from the port install. It's not as bad as the Nuelasta bone pain of which I'm looking SO forward too. So Monday I have an echo cardiogram at 9 then round 2 chemo at 1. I'm going to go have a nice brunch out in between since food will soon taste gross.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and feels better.

thank you. So glad the rest of you are there for me. Seems everyone has different SE affecting them at various times. I'm finding that even in the very short time (5 days) there is no predicting what the next day or moment will be like. Into achiness and mouth sores now...taking wig info to heart...thank you I hope. I can look as cool in a hat and halo as picture posted. Thank you All.

Saturday now, 2nd chemo was 2 days ago, Thurs, this time delayed Neulasta until noon today. MASSIVE BRAIN FOG all day --- but the Taxotere headache has been very much milder and so far no nausea. Blood pressure too low to go out; husband now understands my need for help these early days, and my dog is learning to "go out" with him without me, at least sometimes. Resting and not over-doing, not pushing myself this time --- probably why I don't feel quite so dead. Curious will the Neulasta joint pains be the same...

Finally got an appointment with a lymfedema specialist --- not until 20.10., just before my next chemo, but will phone Monday and ask if an earlier one is possible. The sleeve/glove from the hospital just aren't working, and I need some kind of compression vest for my chest wall. Meanwhile, pain meds and short times with the (I think too small) sleeve and too large glove (the physical therapist said to sew it smaller --- so I've been trying). Maybe this will not be the end of the world...

Wishing everybody a bearable, hopefully even happy, weekend. Sorry I just don't have the energy or mental focus to comment individually right now. But I get strength and hope from reading everybody's comments here. I don't know how I'd get by without this group

I haven't been keeping up because I've just been too sick but I wanted to give you all an update. I am on Round #2, day 8 (TCHP). This round has been very hard with uncontrolled nausea/vomiting/Big D. I ended up in the ER twice and was admitted the second time, although I am home again now. I still am not eating or drinking but now have a home health aide who comes to my house daily for hydration therapy. I've lost 12 pounds this round and 18 pounds overall.

My MO is rethinking my treatment plan. Has anyone heard of a protocol where you have Taxol + Herceptin every week for 10 weeks?

how much swelling is normal with the port install? I think I'm getting a problem.

When I was starting to get a problem with lymphadema my Dr sent me to a Physical Therapist. They have exercises and also an inflatable armcover ( sorry don't know what else to call it). You put your whole arm into it and it inflates and deflates every few minutes for a certain length of time. I went like 3 times a week for a few weeks. I have no problem now. Maybe you could ask you Dr about this. Sorry I don't have names for the treatment as this was about 4 years ago.

Annie, you just had a foreign body placed inside you. It's going to be swollen for a couple days. IBprofen is your friend.
IF it is red and hot or smell a rotten odor, call your nurse triage line right away, you may need antibiotics.

Teacher - my taxol starts after the AC and is supposed to be spread out over 12 weeks. Supposedly it's the work friendly option.

Ok thanks. I just freaked for minute because it wasn't swollen very much then I fell asleep and when I woke up it seems really puffy. I'm icing it. I took some ibuprofen. Thanks. I'm ok now. Weekends are the worst because in my mind I just know something will happen when no one is there. It's exactly like having the first baby and every illness happens at 2 am.

Annie, mine was quite swollen for a few weeks. I'm a month out now and it's still very tender to the touch. Honestly, it's the thing that bothers me most. But I'd still do it to avoid the IVs... I just wish I knew to wear a v-heck shirt and discuss the placement with the surgeon. He never mentioned it and I am very unhappy with the location of the port and the scar. :( I'd like to not have to wear t-shirt necklines to avoid showing an utterly battle-scarred chest.

Teacherhikermom! I'm horrified about what you're going through! I'm so sorry, and I wish we could all be there in person to help.

It's my birthday today, and my friends were going to run the Race for the Cure in my honor. Unfortunately, it got cancelled due to extreme rainfall (it was the right call), so they came over with flowers, cake, and their awesomeness for a little while. It was wonderful! I'm two days past AC #3 and doing pretty well, although I can feel the pain and nausea starting up. Seems that the pain side effect starts a day earlier with each round. I'm just hoping I can get to church tomorrow (day 4) as I do not want to miss the campus pastor who is speaking. Some of you may have heard of Gentry Eddings, the worship pastor who lost both of his sons (one who died shortly after birth) in a horrific traffic accident in May. Their grace and forgiveness has been mind-blowing and life-changing for so many...

I'm so fuzzy--there were other things I had wanted to say and I just... can't... remember. Ugh. The fog is REAL.

    Happy birthday Amy!

Use Mederma on the scars. I've used it religiously and my surgery scars are fading fast. The 3 inch one on my arm pit is barely noticeable in just over 8 weeks!

hair is abandoning ship really fast now. Tonight my husband is going to buzz what's left. Nervous.

I took my wigs to the wig store. They adjusted my main wig for me, it's better now. Still looks puffy/fake tome. Maybe it will look more natural when the hair underneath is gone.

I left the other wig so they could color it. I go back for it next Saturday and then they will cut it too.

I wore my main wig home from the store. I'm trying to wear it this weekend to get used to it before I wear it to work on Monday....

I think my halo arrives this week. I need to go check the tracking.

I'm just wallowing today. Its after 3. I'm still in my pj's kicked back in the recliner watching Harry Potter. I've just abandoned my husband to the children today. I might feel a little guilty, but another Oreo might take care of that Happy

I didn't tie my hair up last night. When I woke up and took Michael down for breakfast, I ended up putting half of my hair in the kitchen trashcan. I could have donated 3 wigs worth of hair to y'all. Moved my hair appointment up to 3 pm today. Counting down...

for what it's worth, my wig never looked right until my hair was actually gone, so the poofiness could be that you have enough hair to make it look that way. I never lost everything, had bald old man hair, really thin

    jabe Member Posts: 165

thanks. It doesn't look like me to me but my friends swear it does. They also took me to get a makeup consult so I'd feel less washed out. My wig was very expensive from a store but insurance is reimbursing so why the heck not

Annie: the guy at the store designs the wigs himself. It's synthetic. If you can go to a store, I highly recommend it. They understand how to fit your skin tone, head shape, etc etc

Oh puffy wig problem...I have one of them.  I took it to the wig shop yesterday.  The lady adjusted it, told me to pop it on the headstand spray it lighly with water and comb it down apparently the more you wear it the better it sits.  I wore mine out last night I felt great...didn't like it much when I saw it in photo but I think we are all feeling very self conscious at the moment.  Chemo fog setting in so nice quiet pyjama day coming up.  Take care lovely ladies.
