michelle, that is so cool about Jerry! I have been feeling alittle down in the dumps too. For me the joint aches are bad right now. Claire, does it get better when we get off the meds? Hang in there. I like your idea for pampering. 💜 It is working on taxes this weekend for us.

I was quite achy the last few months on anastrazole. This went away almost immediately when I stopped. I also don't have leg cramps very much anymore, but that took a lot more time to subside. I haven't forgotten the time in a small tent, needing a trip to the outhouse, and being crippled with leg cramps!!!

I think exercise helps considerably with managing achiness. I take a lot less ibuprofen now. Saturday should be a glorious day for skiing and can't wait to get up there. Today is a work and errands day as need to get my car to the inspection place, and do a couple other items that didn't get done when I was semi-stranded.

Did anyone else see the full moon last night??? It was just glorious. But soon I will be doing my evening walks in DAYLIGHT!!! Can't wait. - Claire

Next week is spring break at my university so we are off to NYC for the week! Haven't been a tourist in NYC in several years...looking forward to it...after what will probably be a very bumpy ride in the airplane through the winter storm in the NorthEast. Mainly a wind factor for Mid-Atlantic through to NY.

Today is a nice sunny day. Cleaned vehicle inside and out and went to rec center. Did some walking, rowing and biking they have nice machines where you can sign into your Netflix account. I can always do so much longer when I am in to a good show. I have started a show called AD. It is about what happens to the the disciples and early church after the resurrection. We are going to the Wisconsin dells spring break march 11-17. trmtab, have fun on your trip. Hi to all the ladies!

I had the best day. Watched my daughter hit, dig, set, and serve in 5 volleyball matches over a period of 8 hours. I have really missed watching her play and she plays with so much passion for the game. They came in #2 in the silver pool and won some games. My daughter is such an amazing player, but chose to not play for a scholarship and focus on her education. Instead, she helps run a collegiate club program at her university and is a setter/hitter/defense specialist.

Tomorrow I head north, for a week or R and R and Shopping. All packed and ready to go. Trying to anticipate the weather and change in weather. Hoping that the good vibes keep on rolling all week long. I will check in, from my computer!!!

Claire I noticed that your diagnosis was ER+/PR-/HER2- . May I ask if your ER+ was a high or low percentage? Mine is very low so whether or not to take an AI hasn't been determined. What does the designation FISH mean? I see it quite often.

  • claire_in_seattle
    claire_in_seattle Member Posts: 2,793

    I don't know what percentage ER+
that I was. Testing was done a bit differently 9 years ago. There are 2 HER
tests, with FISH being the more conclusive, or at least there were at that
    time.

I got to go skiing yesterday and
had the most fabulous time even if it hurt to sit down afterwards. Fortunately,
my glutes have recovered a bit this morning. This is why I ski other than it's
    fabulous exercise.

Funny story from my ski trip. I
am just terrible getting off the chairlift and I always alert the rider next to
me, who today was a lovely young man somewhere around 30. My routine is to move
quickly to the right out of the action and crash. But he offered that landing
on him would better as would be a soft landing!!! We also did the same
miserable wet ride 2 years ago, so compared notes on degree of misery. He liked
the part about my turning the heat in the car all the way up for the ride home.
Anyway, the ride still makes my Top 10 list in terms of general misery.

Here is a quick update of my finds:

    1. Goodwill - Alfani suit for my son, slim cut, $10 sells for $200 at Macys

    2. Pair of Ugg boots for me at Platos Closet - brand new with tags and camel color $60 - I wear boots every single day in the winter

    3. Scarves for $6 at Vera Bradley - so cute and on clearance

    4. Cole Hann waterproof boots at the outlet store for $69...had seen them for $275 in December

    5. Tassels for my bags at Saks off 5th

    6. Pearls and stones from my gem/bead dealer

I resisted a really cute Marc Jacobs bag at Saks, with Claire's voice in my head....classic, chic, edgy, versatile which it was not. Tomorrow, I head for an upscale shopping experience with my giftcards, looking for bargains of course.

When I finish my week of bargain hunting, I will take a picture of everything and post. Likely, I will set up ensembles......

Hope everyone is having a great week!!!

I am actually having a good week. Two gorgeous days plus just got a couple of fat consulting checks with another headed my way. These are in time to pay off my car repair bill and new skis. Plus leave me with some cash to spend.

Wonderful finds, Michelle! Love the boots. It was a nice day yesterday, so I got to wear my Robert Clergerie ankle boots. Actually, I have 4 pairs of these in different heel heights and colors plus a pair of full length in black. My bad!!! All are fabulous by the way.

I have the opera tonight which should be great fun and different. It's Beatrice and Benedict which is based on a Shakespeare play Much Ado About Nothing and combines Shakespeare, symphonic work and not quite sure what else. Ludovic Morlot is conducting which means I get to see him before he leaves Seattle at the end of this year.

I found a vintage Pringle v neck cashmere on eBay in that dark blue-green which is out of fashion these days, but still one of my fab colors as matches the outer part of my eyes.

Looking good for more skiing on Saturday and then I am having my friend Dan over for dinner. I will need an early start, but the Boeuf Bourguignon is all ready to go. Which reminds me that I need to check that Dan is feeling better.

I realized yesterday that if I have my pre-opera dinner at Metropolitan Market (they have great take out food plus tables), I can finally get my birthday cake. So hopefully will make it in time for that.

Thumbs up for rum raisin bread and butter pudding, which I will be making again for Saturday evening. It did make a splendid breakfast too!!

All for now. Onto invoicing so I get paid a princely consulting fee!!! - Claire

Ran around the entire last two days. Whew.... Yesterday, I missed my exit and I let my car take me to another suburb, another great outlet. I walked about 9000 steps yesterday and today will finish with 7000. Today's finds came from the last act dept at Macys, and are super gorgeous smaller bags, perfect for our lake club events. I have really good restraint on what I purchase and can appreciate nice things without having to purchase them. Tomorrow, it is Ikea day, and a hunt for closet items. This has been a very active and fun trip....so needed. My niece is doing well in her class and finishes tomorrow. She will return in a few weeks for a couple more days. My bff is up here, a couple of suburbs away. I need to do laundry.....bye for now!!!!

Michelle, nice haul! Claire, enjoyed the pictures. We are getting ready to go to the Wisconsin Dells Sunday. Looking forward to it. Have a grear night everyone!

Hoping everyone is doing well. I finally am back on my game. The thing that drove home the point is that I got a letter from Cascade Bicycle Club informing me that I am in their Hall of Fame!!! As this is the first sports-related accolade I have received in my entire life, I am over the moon.

Of course, I had to celebrate with a steak dinner plus champagne. I am also "sampling" the chocolate truffles I bought earlier today. A discovery as in my back yard, and equal to the best. Don't cost the earth either.

Skiing tomorrow plus dinner with my friend who had to bail last Sunday. The Boeuf Bourguignon is still just fine (I tasted to be sure) and I just got rum for another round of rum raisin bread and butter pudding.

Deposited a number of checks related to all the work I did in January today. Nice to see a healthy bank balance.

Just had another chocolate. Oh, my!!! - Claire

Have not heard from Varga in a while. Hope she is okay. Returned home today, gave the dog a bath, schlepped my finds in from the car, and am pooped. My niece received her certification and is ready to add to her credentials. I am so glad that I don't live in a suburb, as I find them somewhat conservative. The city is more my speed. I received a text from my dh yesterday, and our club terminated my favorite chef. I will support our club, but when my chef opens his own business again, I will follow him as well.

I found a few more items, and I will take a grande pic tomorrow of my "finds."

    Claire, CONGRATULATIONS!

We leave today for the Wisconsin Dells. We are using an RCI week that my mom gifted to us. She doesnt use her timeshare now that dad is gone. I wasnt sure what kinda weather WI would have, you never know this time of year. I figured we would either be golfing or skiing. So called last night and they got in on the blizzard last week so all winter activities are on! It is at Chrismas Mountain Village so all skiing, snowboarding, and tubing are on site! Also they bumped us up to a deluxe 2 BR townhome for free!

Michelle... I saw Varga on another thread tonight. Or yesterday. It sounds like she is doing ok. Maybe the Bottle o Tamoxifen thread. I don’t remember.

Yesterday, I got to climb all the way to the top skiing and then ski down, about 12 miles altogether. Now I realize that had been off my game that way as well. Or rather, conditions were less that stellar most of the season. I was so tired coming down that I stopped to rest and lost my balance, and then didn't want to get back up because sitting felt so good!

I was rewarded with these views. Amazingly enough, I was able to do a 5k run today. It's just glorious out today, but too warm to ski, so glad I got in yesterday. We shall see if there are any more good ski days. If not, it's time to get on my bicycle as 4 months to go until the next Seattle-to-Portland.

This is looking down to Snoqualmie Pass. Note that the snow is blowing a bit and you didn't want to linger. The wind kept me from getting overheated during the 5k uphill climb. You really do feel on top of the world at this overlook.

    image

This is an extremely special view. In the distance are the Olympic Mountains, almost 100 miles away on the other side of the Puget Sound.

    image

Views everywhere. Note the reflection in my ski sunglasses.

    image

I forget the name of this mountain, but I call it "avalanche alley."

    image

View of the Olympics a bit higher.

    image

It feels like a special private world up here. Note that the snow is something like ten feet deep, so only the tops of the trees are showing.

    image

More of the very special world.

    Snowy meadow just starting out....

I'm here! I have been creeping along reading all the post. Life has just been so busy! I didn't realize I hadn't posted since early February! 4 of the 6 grandchildren have birthdays in February and March. That has kept me busy! We took the oldest GS to Gatlinburg for his 12th birthday. We had a really good time. (No shopping for me....Boo!) Baby Charlee turned one Friday and her party was yesterday. DD and SIL recently moved to a bigger apartment of course mom was there to pick up the slack. There were 2 weeks that I delivered Meals on Wheels 3 days due to being short volunteers. I typically do 2 days a week so adding the extra day threw my schedule a bit. When the weather was so beautiful I took full advantage of that (all 3 days lol) I raked the yard and cleaned the carport out. I have been working on cleaning out my closet as well. Someone is going to be thrilled with all the donations I took to the thrift store below my house. I took 3 large bags of clothes. I loved most of the tops I donated but have come to the realization that the LE isn't going to let me wear a small anymore. I need a medium. I do not like that the small tops make my compression garments very easy to see. A medium is lpose enough that it doesn't show.

    Congratulations Claire!

Love all the pictures and travel stories!

Nasty weather is back and no school today.

Good to see you Varga! Did you get much snow? We got rain and sleet then snow. Not a lot. Maybe an inch. Gonna be ugly on the roads in the morning. We have a 2 hour delay.

We ended up with NOTHING! It rained a little then snowed a little everything's dry now. We are under a winter storm warning though so who knows what tomorrow will bring. It is freezing with high winds right now. Stay safe out there!

This is what we got. But with the rain then the freezing temps overnight we had really bad black ice. We ended up being canceled today because it wasn’t warming up fast enough to get the busses out. It’s all gone now tho, and we lose the rest of our half days this year. However, I went in and worked so at least I don’t have to make up more time. imageimage

This morning since we had a delay I got to stay in bed past 7 am. Then school was cancelled but teachers had an optional day and could report in at 10 am. This is how I spent my first 2 hours this morning.imageimage

Beautiful cat! We had a two hour delay and nothing on the ground. There were spots of black ice somewhere not in my area.

I am so jealous of all the snow. It is everywhere, but here!!! This winter could have used at least one good snowfall. Instead, we had gray skies and some ice. I love the snow because it brightens everything, even my moods. Claire gets all the "good stuff" in Seattle, and Varga, has had her share down in the Carolina's. GK, I am convinced that you are getting my snow. Illinois used to get a generous amount of snow, and I actually pray for snow.

Love seeing all of the pictures, it reminds me how we have to live each day to the fullest. So glad to be home, so glad to have had a week away. I appreciate my life and all of you, as we continue on our journey together. Hugs from the heartland......

Spring Break is the end of the month. To celebrate I’m having my EXCHANGE surgery. So I will have bed time for sure. He may be kicked out if he doesn’t stay off my chest tho! I’m looking forward to the down time but a bit nervous about the surgery.

we are having a blast in the Wisconsin Dells! Today we went to a place called Wizard Quest. It is an interactive game you play with an electronic pad. You look for answers to riddles, and look for clues and hidden passageways as you go through the realms of a beautiful fantasy world. Going back on saturday to do another quest. My daughter found a Zoltar machine and LOVES the movie Big so had to do if. Wisconsin is cheese country so I am in cheese curd heaven. Going to try skiiing on saturday too. Claire you proud of me?
