Fantastic that there is a crowd on the Fitbit community! Well done all.
Having struggled through a family bout of gastro this last week (oh joy) I'm back on my feet. Did an 11km run yesterday and about to head out again today.
Must say being sick with the gastro put me back quite a bit emotionally.
Anyway, I've gone back through the posts here that inspire and reassure me in the dark times. Thanks to everyone.
Keep punching!

Livebig - glad you are loving yoga! It really is one of the best things any of us can do for ourselves. Not just for the physical benefits, but the mental ones too. I know that my mindfulness practice and breathing learned through yoga has made all the difference in my sense of well-being.
Shetland - I think the change of scenery was definitely helpful. I felt so much more energetic in both Cozumel and New Orleans than I do at home. Partly I think its because I so much prefer to be outside in nature, and, until recently, it has been too cold to do that here. Hercpetin makes my eyes and nose all watery in the cold, and it's not as pleasant. I didn't have any of those issues in the warmth. I also get to sleep longer on vacation and there's no work stress!
Micmel - I'm so sorry to hear of your mom's health problems. I can identify a bit as my father is in the hospital right now too. He fell and broke his right arm ten days ago (he is paralyzed on the right side due to a stroke 14 years ago), and it's been very hard on him and my mom who is his caregiver. Just a few days ago, he couldn't get out of bed and we have discovered he has a sepsis infection so will be in the hospital and rehab for some time. We aren't sure if this is the point where he needs to go to a nursing home full time or if he will be able to be back at home. It's so hard to see our parents suffer. My thoughts go out to you both.
Way to go, everyone, with the activity. I was quite a sloth yesterday what with driving 2.5 hours to see my parents and spending a few hours at the hospital. Made up a little for it today with 10,000 steps and some moderate weight work.

DG~ thank you for your thoughts! My mother just called me to tell me that that she will be going into a rehab home for quite sometime to see if they can get her to rest the muscles enough to re gain the function, to keep the muscle saved, if then tissue responds well to the antibiotics and improve then she'll be ok. If not the gang green has set in and that scares me. I will put your father into my prayers as well and I know exactly how you feel. I feel helpless, but tried to help anyway I can. I ordered her a really well rated cane, And flowers and a set of super soft wash cloths since she will be sponge bathing for a while. Also a few extra dollars for all those extras you're just not counting on when you're ill , as we all know.
I hope you get good healing and results about your father. I will keep you all close in prayer. ~M

Just wanna give big thank you to this group. You all inspire, support and challenge me. Now, it has become contagious with many of my friends impressed by my activity level making healthy changes in their own lives. Let's keep it up 😀

Illimae - You are an inspiration to me. It's such a pleasure to find myself in the middle of the pack, not leading, on the fitbit group.
I can't seem to run these past few days. Made an attempt yesterday and accomplished a slow, downhill, 2 mile trot before giving up and walking. This morning the zip was not there at all, but I got a brisk one hour hike in. It's been a while since I have had a good run.
Things seem to improve and I start looking at the dates of my favorite half marathons, and then the zip is gone and walking is the only thing available to me.
I biked like a maniac but I didn't do yoga last week in Moab. That often correlates with difficulty running. Will get back into yoga this week and see if the running will come back.
In any case, I am definitely meeting any standard of consistent, moderate exercise. Dealing with the ups and downs with the help of you all. They key is to not get discouraged and ...
keep moving!
How's your workout going? What are your plans this week?

Z~ I am right there with you. Taking it easier this week, last week I ran a total of 21.5 miles. Haven't moved like that in a long time and my body knows it!! Just slowing down a little this week is all. I know the past three nights I haven't slept, worrying about my mom. Sleeping vital for healing and moving for all of us I Am positive. I go to my lymphedema pump today, that thing is amazing. Just going to hustle and walk this week. Bless you all! Have a good week everyone!

Micmel - Take care. The Mom thing is devastating. The possibility it could have been avoided, infuriating. Lots of emotions to process. It can be harder to deal with something happening to someone you love then the emotions around your own health issues. Perhaps a taste of what the people around us are working through...
Complicated business, but don't stop moving!

I got a 40 minute walk in this morning before MO appt and chemo at 4:00 toda. This week I'll be walking at work and Saturday it's off to the park again to prepare for the 5k. I'll be walking it because I am still significantly overweight but it's a start. I registered today and am excited for 4/23. Go #91!

Mae~ you go girl!!! 😃😃push forward. Makes me want to get up and walk right now! Did some retail therapy today. I really need to stop shopping, does that count as excersise Z~? Lol hugs everyone !!

Illimae great post I second those thoughts! Thank so much to all of you good folks for your support, advice and encouragement. I wouldn't have come so far without all of you.

Micmel - Yes. Walmart is always good for a hike! I am amazed at the number of steps I get trying to find a bar of soap in that place. Shopping is exhausting.

So great to read all the activity on this thread . I am continuing to try and walk my three miles a day, managed to make it out 5 days last week and hope as the weather gets better here I will get out more . This weeks 5 day challenge which I was on suddenly disappeared on my phone? Any ideas on how to get back on? If not I will try to join up again next week!
Thanks and enjoy the day! And keep on moving!

I went out and raked out the kennel this morning and replaced the cedar bedding and pine shavings in the doghouse and kennel. Then I got wood, nails, hammer, saw, and repaired the front of the dog house where Al had chewed off the doorway and two big panels! I am beat, but there's no one else to do the work so if I don't do it it doesn't get done! I got a nice workout though

Keet~that's pretty awesome! I am sorry about your rib! Ouch!!! Take care and rest up. Sending big prayers your way for successful healing before live strong!! ~M~

Amelia - PM me your fitbit user name and I'll add you back. not a big deal. I just haven't been mapping user names between the two communities.
Keetmom - LiveStrong is awesome. Wish I had the cojones to swing a kettle bell. Will stick to yoga and body weight exercise for a bit.
Gracie - Exercise and dog house fixed. Awesome.
Keep moving. Science shows it makes little difference what you actually do. Do something!

Did a couple of the Leslie Sansone vids. 5 miles over the course of today. I like her interval walking.
Glad people are doing well. Have a good one all.

Micmel - Thanks for the prayers for my dad, and I'm sending ones out for your mom as well. My dad is headed to short-term nursing home care for rehab and seems to be responding well to the antibiotics so things are looking good there.
Z- I have been trying to run again lately, and I just don't seem to have the stamina to keep at it for long. I have days where I feel loaded with energy, and other days where it seems I'm huffing and puffing. But you are so right. We just have to keep doing it and keep trying.
Got in a 15 minute walk over my lunch break and then walked another 50 minutes this evening. I walk pretty fast, so my heart rate stays up in the cardio zone most of the time, I think. Did a little yoga on my deck in the evening sun as well.
Keetmom- hope your rib heals quickly. Broken ribs are the worst. You can't do anything about them really, but they affect all your activities.
llmae - Way to go on registering for the 5K!
Way to keep moving everybody!

Great day ladies.
I got in a walk despite the weird spring snow storm and made 10,000 steps today.
I still have to get my posterior to the living room and do my yoga sequence even if it is 8:50. You all do keep me moving.

had blood work today, and a shot of xgevea, I have a persnickety chest port that always seems to give me issues drawing blood. So they had to try to get it from my arm while I waited for the port solution to dissolve some clot at the end of the tubing. Such fun. Didn't really want to spend three hours in the infusion center,. 6 pricks later. I adore the nurses, but do not like the smells of that place. Haunts me in a way. Something I would like to forget. They told me that they had a woman come in last week with a port that flipped over, because she is an avid bike rider, so she asked me if had been doing anything different lately, I was like 😳, um yeah! I started running again. So I was a little freaked out that it was out of position. But luckily it came through two hours later. Phew I'm sick of doctors. Hope everyone did good today. Only got a mile in, after the three hour hospital stay and some cleaning I was only able to jog a mile, my dog kept getting caught in my leg and I thought of Gracie. So I stopped. Hoping for more nicer weather. Rest well ladies. Good night ~M~

If anything involving veins gets even a little complicated I pass out. I know that smell. Glad you got out of there. A mile is more than enough to clear that hospital mojo, but it can be very difficult to shake off a day in infusion room and get back out there. Nice work.
I was able to run 2.5 miles for the first time in a week and a half. Some combination of yoga and rest has got me back on the streets.
I just had Thai noodle soup. Feeling very tired, which is good. I'm trying to stay off cannabis for a bit and my sleep has been erratic.
How are you all doing?

Z~ maybe you're starting to come out of the 125mg fog!! I really think you're wonderful Z. Day in and day out you support us all, I hope you know we are also always here for you. I can't feel anything too much in my right arm, so the needles don't bother me too much. It is those smells for me. I step out of the elevator and then it hits me. All that awful chemical/needle smell, like I am so done with all of that! Luckily I can be thankful, I don't have to go back for a month as long as blood work holds out. Have a great day everyone. It's raining here, so looks like it's a jog indoors. But at least I'm moving ! Woke up feeling good. So no complaints there! Prayers always for everyone always! ~M~

Yes, I am awesome!
I went to get my thyroid cyst checked by ultrasound yesterday and noted on the intake form that I have MBC. I generally tell nobody that I have MBC because I can't deal with their emotions and feelings. But this is a medical situation, so I put my diagnosis on the form. The poor ultrasound tech, her mother has MBC. She starts crying when she reads the intake form. It takes quite a while to get the procedure started because she has to share her concern, offer her prayers, like I have one foot in the coffin. I am smiling and laughing because I somehow find the whole thing funny. I try to make a few positive comments about improvements in treatments, because I know this is about her concern for her mother, not me. But she couldn't hear any of that.
In any case, I got the longest most thorough ultrasound ever. She got the radiologist to come and chat with me at length, which never happens at my hospital. They were very sympathetic, I got a lot out of it. Gotta milk the benefits of the MBC diagnosis where you can.
In sum, I am feeling very positive even in the face of medical professionals convinced of my imminent demise. There have certainly been days in the past where that would have been hard to take. I think that is the drop in dose. My mental state is better.
I'll post about my thyroid elsewhere, as this thread is about staying healthy and positive with exercise. But nothing too serious.
Stay well and keep moving everyone.

Yeah,
I always hated going in to get my chemo, definitely a unique smell...
Z - great job on the 2.5 miles!
My workouts this week have been pretty good with the exception of yesterday. I went to the ballet with my daughter on Tuesday and Wednesday was a rest day.. Back on the gravy train today and the rest of the week to keep moving..

Ugh! Been a beast of a day today. Got my Xgeva shot two days ago and hopefully I'll be coming out of the fog tomorrow and I'll move more. Didn't do too much today. Headache, real tired. But the Claritin helped the joint pain as thank goodness it always does. I just hate that darn shot, and it better be working. I am sick of hearing of sh*t failing and not working for good people. Which all of you are. Good people who don't for a second deserve anything like this crap. Ok I'm done ranting. Good night special souls. Keeping you close in prayer always., and I do mean always. ~M~

Micmel - Sorry to hear you get the joint pain from Xgeva. I get the shot as well but don't really seem to have any side effects from it. I do have a bit of knee pain, but that is probably just my near 50 body complaining.
I had infusion day yesterday too. My center doesn't smell too medicinal, but the one thing I really dislike is the taste in my mouth when they push saline into my port. Ugh. Just thinking about it gives me the heebie jeebies.
Z- I can relate a little bit to your story about not wanting to share your MBC diagnosis due to everyone thinking you have a foot in the grave. A local nonprofit group here in Minnesota pairs women newly diagnosed with breast cancer with a mentor who has already been through it. They do learning sessions every quarter and I was asked to lead a yoga/mindfulness session for them. At the end, I was chatting with a lovely woman who was in the midst of chemotherapy. She was terribly weak and was wearing a surgical mask ,but when she found out that I had MBC It was like all of a sudden she felt like she needed to take care of me. Felt like our roles were awkwardly reversed. At any rate, I hope the thyroid issue is OK, and I'm very glad to hear that you are feeling better about things mentally and physically. Way to go with the running!
