Good timing on that question, Paulette. I was just thinking today about "coming out" on FB. I was not a prolific poster anyway, and when I got my dx, I was not ready to let yet more people into my bc experience. I guess I had 'telling everyone and accepting their sympathy' fatigue.

Anyway, the opportunity to be in a group with you guys on FB clinches it. I'd love to keep up with everyone. I also feel like this whole experience has taught me to be more open and not hide from everyone as I deal with problems.

Jenruns, sorry abt the nerve/joint pain. I hope you are able to get enough rest if it is worse at night.

    L.

I am so frustrated with the level of fatigue I'm having! I went to the kitchen to get something because I'm starving, and I had to go back and lay down before getting anything. WTF? Do others get this tired?

Leatherette-are you super low on red blood count? I haven’t got to this tired, once I got tired at night that I didn’t even want to brush my teeth.

I don't know-the only time they test my blood is pre-chemo, and that was over a week ago. My RBC was low-2.95. Is that super low? Because I'd assume it's even lower now.

Leatherette - my RBC same as you 2.95, I am fine. Rest up have people serve you.

Leatherette: Oh ya! That’s me all the way. Any activity means a half hour or morelay down. By the time I’ve finished typing this, I’ll have to lay down. Soooo frustrating. Want to get up and do things but can’t.

Wow Pink, you got this major fatigue also, how long did it take for you to gain back some energy?

Paulettte: I don’t think I fully recovered from chemo #5 before I was getting chemo #6. I keep a journal to know how I’m doing. When I went back through the journal even at day 16 I was still experiencing muscle weakness. Nurse practitioner blamed it on the lower RBC.

well my onc wants me to get records from my nuerosurgeon of my surgery for hydrocephelus, that was just prior to finding out about my reoccurance, i keep wondering if that surgery triggered the cancer but all say no

    Hi ladies,

I experienced some pains under my feet middle of the night is this joints / muscle pains or neuropathy? I noticed some numbness on my fingertips and this is only taxol #4.

Proud - would surgery triggered cancer? I don’t have any knowledge of this at all

I would love to be added to the Facebook group. Paulette I'll PM you my info. I'm not too active on the threads in terms of responding b/c I usually read from my email but I've been following everyone's journey daily.

My last Taxol is 10/16, them lumpectomy, then rads. I'm triple negative so I did neoadjuvant chemo.

My toes feel weird and my fingers/palms are slightly peeling. Really hoping the neuropathy stays at bay for one more tx.

    Continued well wishes to all!

paulette, my nuerosurgeon said no it could not have trimy scanggered my cancer but now i really wonder if the surgery was even necessary, sorry it is just me as the cancer came back right after the surgery. For now my onc just wants all scans as history

    Afternoon ladies,

My daughter came home this weekend and we've been busy doing girl stuff. We did a little Christmas shopping, ate at our favorite restaurant and went to the movies.

So I'm in the chair for my 3rd DD and have a couple hours to go. This place is packed today, good grief the noise level is crazy! Somehow my hubby has fallen asleep in his chair. Then again he's been known to doze standing up if he's propped against a wall.

The ball and toes of my feet feel odd if I walk barefoot, I don't notice it if I have on shoes or slippers. Must be neuropathy.

Well my energy level is all over the place. I definitely felt low on day 8 and 9 this past infusion, then the rest of the week was fine, I got the house cleaned, shopped and ran errands. But this morning I was getting things ready for our lunch at the infusion center and I just wanted to go sit down in the worst way. That works as this is definitely a wasted day hanging out here.

My daughter is home till tomorrow so she's volunteered to have dinner ready when we arrive home. Yippie!

I'm sorry for all the fatigue, I know it's depressing as the couple days I was feeling puny last week my mood plunged also. I know better days are coming though, hang in.

Purple, woot your done in a week! I'll be right behind you a week later!

Proud, your onc wants to review your presurgical scans but feels the two (your cancer reoccurring and the operation) aren't related. Makes sense to have them available I would think.

Paulette I'll send you my info for the fb group. Thanks so much.

    Hugs and prayers,

    Theresa

Teese - I do think it’s neuropathy because my some of fingertips are getting numb and I only have 4 weekly taxol. I even have some shape pains under my feet middle of the night, luckily didn’t last that long,

I think my emotions hit the bottom today, hope I can feel better tomorrow since I’m going to get my flu shot. My nose is getting so dry that I have nosebleed so often, I’m using nasal gel already wish this journey over soon

Teese, sounds like a great time with your daughter. Christmas shopping! Okay, I'm afraid to know how on top of things you are when not going through chemo!

Paulette, my emotions hit bottom yesterday, but they are starting to come up a little, because at least today I was able to get out of bed and make some food. Hope you are on an upswing soon.

Leatherette- I got out of bed but I didn’t go out at all, first the air is bad in California, half of the Northern California are on fire! Even the sky was grey in San a Francisco.

Paulette, I'm so sorry you're down. I wish I had words that could help, but I know there aren't any. I cried nearly every day the first 8 weeks and so I know it's not fixed easily. For me it was just feeling better and I was able to snap out of it.

In 8 weeks you're done, you'll feels physically better and this WILL lift you up, I promise

Taxol #5 went fine ... but around 10 pm when I went to bed, I started feeling a sharp pain under my left breast/expander. Freak out, Google it. Ended up calling MO on-call. He didn’t seem too worried - go to bed and keep an eye on it. Likely weird muscle pain. (Of course, google says pericarditis too.)

Now my husband is freaked out and won’t likely sleep well. Once my steroid high chills out (or the Ativan kicks in) l’ll fall asleep and forget about it (the pain isn’t debilitating. Heck, could be gas!)

I hate the worry and unknown of cancer treatments. If I wasn’t on Taxol (or any chemo) I wouldn’t think twice. But the unknown — do I worry or not. Oh well. Glad for the MO seeming to be not too concerned.

Jen - oh boy hope you can sleep well tonight, usually I couldn't sleep much on the infusion night, especially now you had this sharp pains. I hate to worry about all these unknown SE, when people told me my hands were warm and I worried I have fever. Send you good thoughts and prayers for you also.

Teese - thank you so much, I’m much better today. Taxol down days usually only a day or two, it won’t be long.

Do they give you steroid? Steroid usually keep me up all night, need to take meds to make myself tired

Jen hoping to hear your night ended uneventful.

it was a rough night... barely slept. Still have the pain today, but am more convinced it's muscle related. Maybe feels like what a bruised or broken rib would feel like? Never had either though, so I'm just making stuff up ;) I took two Aleve this morning. Will see how it is tomorrow.

I find it interesting that for me, Taxol joint/muscle issues seem to mimic other conditions -- I always get two days of feeling like I have a UTI. Now it's feeling like I have bruised ribs. I also get a few days where my feet ache, similar to plantar fasciitis. Go figure.

Hoping to get a nap in today, and a good night of sleep. Will probably take my Ativan earlier than usual.

Jen - this is kind of weird that you had such a painful rib pains, I have heavy feet then the other night I got sharp pains under my feet kind of like plantar fasciitis. It didn’t last long then went away. Hope the Aleve helped your pains then your normal days will come soon

    Ladies,

Day 6 of taxol for me and I got rash on both arms, at least it is not that itchy just red, however at night I got some rash on my leg which is a little itchy. This happened right after I put lotion on my legs, that’s kind of weird. I’m hoping I can sleep tonight

  • Teese
    Teese Member Posts: 355

Paulette sorry about the rash, ugh. I've had the flushing big time this infusion. Scarlett red neck arms face, just lovely. Is the rash raised and bumpy, maybe you should call the MO if it's on the lymphedema side.

Jen, I remember reading on the Taxol thread a couple months back about someone having ri pain discomfort, I think she was told it was intercostral chondritis. Here's a quick link, I looked it up to see if my memory was right. https://www.google.com/search?q=intercostal+chondr...

Not sure what it is just remembered the odd name.

    Hope your feeling better.

Teese, you're awesome!! I'm having a flashback ... My internist diagnosed me with that once, years ago. I completely and totally forget about it. Wouldn't surprise me at all if that's what this is ... jives with being just muscular, and if I'm pre-disposed to having it, the Taxol would/could bring it on. (Similar to the foot pain ... I had plantar fasciitis when I was running a lot. Perhaps the Taxol takes advantage of weak spots.

Teese you are awesome, you don't have chemo mind.

My rash is not Icey just red and I read back someone had this SE also. I'm going to take Benadryl tonight meanwhile I just use some Benadryl cream. Will have infusion tomorrow then I can bring this up. As long as it isn't itchy I will be okay,.

    Paulette,

I like a brand of lotion called Sarna for rashes. You can get it at any big box pharmacy OTC.

I hope you feel better soon.
