Good Beautiful Morning Dear Ladies😊There is a refreshing breeze coming through the windows. Im going finish my coffee and throw on my jeans, and go down to the front porch to check on the nesting Doves. it’s almost two weeks. since they made the nest and started sitting on it taking turns all day an night. it’s. so sweet to see how devoted they are to each other by returning right on time to relieve the other, and take egg sitting duty to keep them warm. Today I want to put a blanket or large towel on the porch floor with twigs and some soft grasses on top of the blanket. use in case the babies fall from the nest before they mature, so the mamma & poppa can continue to care for them on the floor of the porch…..so that’s my mission for today.
@threetree I had my consultation yesterday. I was so stressed when we got there and when interviewed by the PA and talking about the whole history of my past cancer surgeries, orthopeadic surgeries and my hemorrhagic stroke, and where my pain is and if i would consider physical therapy…blah blah blah. by the time she finished her questioning I felt so agitated and anxious just talking about it all, and explaining why I won’t go to PT. Then she takes my blood pressure and I knew it would be sky high and she asks if. I take medication for it. I felt so angered inside I felt my adrenaline pumping, that. she. did’t just take my vitals first. so I started this appointment in a very upset state because my. BP is always low like the last one taken in the lab lat week was 114/70 duh 🙄. so then he. walks into the room, with all his questions and that he may do the ACDF surgery or something else, but will not decide how to treat my Cervicle Spine without a Nuclear Medicine Bone and CT scan. that made me feel a little better that he was being very thorough so he got me in for Monday next week. for the Scans, and a follow-up appt on Thursday next week. Then he will be away till the end of May so I really feel relieved I’ll know next week what’s going on with me. whether there will be a surgery and when.
@candy-678 you are on my mind and in my heart, girl. sending good vibrations
Hi @irishlove , yes I totally understand. MIA and some of the reasons for not always feeling up to jumping in on the. chats. take good care of you and just know we are all in your pocket always, and especially MIA🌷♥️
@rlschaller Thank you for your words. it means so much her on this forum.
@chicagoan 😊 Well no it wasn’t really a schock to hear my Oncologist swear. My DH & I have a close relationship with him since he started caring for me since 2009. We love him because his depth of care and concern for us and all o his cancer patients. I’ve never really hear him swear in all those years until maybe a few weeks ago when he was describing his vacation in Vietnam with his wife and worrying about her with all the crazy traffic there 😉
@betrayal Thanks for the info from the plumber on Baking soda and vinegar. I never pour it down my drains but I do dissolve it in. Water with lemon and turmeric and ginger. I hope it doesn’t clog me😊🩵

Candy, may your glasses arrive soon, the readers are a boon but nothing replaces prescription.
Chicagoan, I am sorry you were sick but glad you are finally over your cold and it is wonderful to hear about you teaching your class.
My plumbing is still an issue BUT, solutions are presenting themselves until drano comes. I plan to put hot not boiling water down my drains, kitchen sink, bathroom sink and toilet. Adding the enzyme cleaner to the water after the heat up. Enzyme should help clear any blockage. TBH I can also possibly put a teeny tiny container, put the drain hose in the container and drain slowly and dump the container elsewhere. I did put a mesh end on the hose as well to catch anything that comes but that fell off. I expect the ministrations will take a long time but I do not care, need to get the laundry done.
I want to have some chipotle flavoured bean mix on top of rice and the riced veggies. I do a 1 to 1 ratio of the riced veggies and the rice. I also have chili to go with the beans and rice and may add cheese and sour cream. If adding all that, will use small amounts of each. Later, just some eggs and possibly the riced veggies. Rub butter all over pan, heat up and fry some eggs and the veggies.
Edit to add, first meal was so good. Used 1/4 cup of the riced veggies, added 1/4 cup of chipotle beans and 1/4 cup of the chili. Put shredded cheese in, microwave to melt the cheese. When brought out, added some broken tostitos, salt, sour cream seasoning and onion AND a small spoonful of both sour cream and queso. Yummy and filling.
Hope everyone has a good day, I am in pockets for anyone who needs me including myself to make things work out for myself until it works. If still having drain issues, will call the property manager but in the meantime, I do not use the tub except for washing. I can work around stuff if needed. I can be patient. I really like this as a challenge for me tbh and as my laptops proved, and the repair to the other washer, I can like get a good system going for myself.
3 -
Edited post on drain . I will still try to clear the blocked drain but need to spin dry the towels absorbing the liquid in the tub. Once the water is drained out, can work to keep clearing out the drain. If I need to use a machine, take out a wee washer til I set everything up.Even when the drain is repaired, new plan is to use the smaller washer in the bedroom and put back in closet, clip the hose to a 10 L bucket and ensure that all cycles do not use more than 10 L of water. Keep either in closet or move to kitchen, no more bathtub. Getting the same size bucket for the larger washer which will remain in the tub. Even if the drain comes back to life, good to have a back up to use. Needed towels as well so got two more large bath towels, going to dry out the once I have been using since it has been washed and debating a stackable set up in the bedroom, put on top of the other non working dryer that is more a night stand set up. This will all be decided later. Both buckets are foldable so no problem storing them as needed. I am obsessed but there will be functional ways to use tools to keep extra water out of the tub and able to wash what I will. Easy to fill both washers with less than the 10 L of water. Alot to figure out and I love it. So if tired of me yapping, will condense later if updates to be had. Just excited at figuring things out for myself and not calling brother all the time and being conscious of not flooding the place. Cleaning all drains and go from there. I don't doubt that all drains need help. For now clear drain and add my enzyme cleaner as a non toxic and practical way of eating up any crap along with hot water. The water is hot, not boiling though.
I will stop mentioning the drain, I get exciting looking for practical solutions though but will not mention again until everything is set up.

@mara51506 Well kudos to you for always trying to make the best out of any situation upon you. It is a great feeling to overcome and improvise, yap way!!!
@shanagirl Sorry to hear it was kinda frustrating appointment but glad to hear you left there pleased. Great to hear he sounds very thorough and you will get scans done and back next week for follow up. You know we'll all be there in your pocket as you navigate this process. You're so sweet looking out for the baby birds. Nature is amazing for sure.
@irishlove Good to see ya but of course we understand needing a break. You always sound positive and have a good outlook regardless of multiple issues you deal with. Hugs.
@candy-678 Oh for goodness sakes I can't believe you're still waiting! That's sweet of you to be so considerate of what everyone here is dealing with but your vision matters too. I hope the wait is not to much longer, fingers crossed.
All ok here was at MO visit today for labs etc. She ordered a port check to be done as they have had intermittent issues drawing from it. It was fine today but the last visit I had like an electrical shock pain all around and under it for about a week. I think it's probably fine now but she's just being cautious so I agreed to go to err on the cautious side. Otherwise another beautiful day here today. We are going to take Buster for a play date tonight with another golden retriever in my neighborhood. He has never met this beauty but she seems like a sweetheart. Have to keep the dog happy too lol.
Thinking of many here who are having rough days and hoping the rough seas calm soon. Hugs

Shana, glad you have the nesting doves to look in on, that is really cool to hear about that. Loving the joke about not getting clogged yourself.
I am getting the towels and 10 L buckets anyway so that will allow me to rinse out the washer and dump the water elsewhere. I do not require the bathtub drain BUT will continue sending through mostly water though some drano for tomorrow. Sending hot water through other drains too, not boiling but very hot. Would not hurt to ensure all other plumbing is clear. My repaired washer will be used in the bedroom with a separate bucket as well, make the whole thing less complicated anyway. I am still enjoying myself with the whole thing anyhow.
I have also made up a better budget for myself. I normally put everything into one savings but I think that it is easier to visibly see what I am saving and send money to another account that is my budget for regular bills, pay the big ones off and sew how much is left. Goal is not to use the bigger account, save a bit of money and be more accountable to what is left. So far it seems less confusing. Can also focus more on the stuff to boost my budget and decide where it might need to go, who knows. Excited for that as well. Been watching a lot of the budget cooking on Youtube and always fascinated by Ardent Michelle the channel and what she can do with practically nothing, seeing peppers she stuffs etc that look really good.

@shanagirl i love your descriptions! It’s like I’m sitting there with you on the porch. You have such a loving way of caring for the critters in your life, so nurturing . And your appt .. oy vey ! But glad ultimately it worked out, and you have a sense of how it can proceed on a timetable that sounds workable for you. ❤️
@mara51506 i am so impressed with how handy you are. So capable of fixing everything ! And your budgeting plan makes sense. It sounds like a good way to keep track. Like the idea of be8jg accountable to what is left and having 2 accounts, savings and spending.
@cookie54 glad the port check and labs went well. I never heard of an electric type feeling around the port before . Enjoy the Buster play date. Hope he likes his new playmate . Being a cat owner my whole life, cat play dates would be inconceivable lol…All is well here too. Finished radiation for the new skin Mets, next week is MRI and PET and MO visit on Friday for analysis and new line of treatment suggestion. Will keep you all posted. I think the plan is to start Doxil as the systemic maintenance chemo. Depends on the scans results perhaps. Feeling great, and looking forward to learning what is under the hood ( so to speak). Love and hugs to all.

I was so very sorry to hear about Divine. She was a super sweet woman and was honest and kind. Im sad that her sweet son had to tell us that she passed. It was sudden but still. Another wonderful woman gone too soon. She fought a hell of a battle. Rip beautiful lady. It apparently went to her brain and moved quickly. I’m so sad. I hate cancer so very much …
Love to all you sweet ladies.

While I most read Ms M a lot on this site, I could tell she had a good relationship with a lot of people. I am sending my condolences to everyone here, her family and friends. Mel, I am sorry for you as well.
rjschaller I just try to make my life easier that is all. I still am not 100 percent of the drain cleared but close to finding solutions that do not require the drain at all with a couple of buckets and extra towels. The bathtub is really not a priority as I put water in the sink and clean that way. I did almost take a spill getting on the shower chair and decided there would no more of that nonsense for me. I am in your pocket for all your scans, MO visit and hoping your maintenance treatment has few side effects but sounds like you are feeling good which makes me happy.
5 -
Mara, you’re such a sweet person. I hope you know that. I hope people tell you enough. A special soul you are.
6 -
Mel, thank you so much, I appreciate you saying that and you are a very kind and lovely woman too. You started this thread and it has helped a lot of people with what they are going through for sure.
I slept well last night, not sure what I am doing today, thinking of busting out my salad spinners to assist in laundry as I really do not want to fill the tub, though my arms are getting a workout, plunging is for the birds. I did remember to cover up the overflow above with tape so more pressure is applied. I will see, lot of cleanup ahead today.
Beyond laundry and chores, there is always food. I must say, the bushes chipotle mixed beans and stagg chili with the bits of corn and other veggies is divine. I got filled up on the mix with riced veggies too and the queso and sour cream as binders was perfect. Need to figure out some egg dishes as well, still have almost 30 eggs.I hope everyone has a good day, pocket duty for all who need me, my own pocket duty to finish what I really want to finish today and earn some money for things to buy. Not a job but fun playing the games for cash or watch cooking videos and get paid for ads.
Edited to add, I did some violent plunging post wash up and things seem to be moving, got a complete load in the dryer. I do not mind if the buckets turn into storage, if the tub drain works I will put the other washer back in tub, need to do a thorough clean of the bathtub anyway. Harder part is lifting the bigger washer out of the tub but need to empty it out before putting stuff in again. I also plan to add some drano anyway and a daily flush of t he hot not boiling water.

Happy Saturday and good morning everyone!
It’s warm here in Hoboken, another 80 degree day expected. Slept in till 6:30 am yeah… the steroids that are part of my premeds always have me up at 4:30-5:00, so it feels so nice to sleep more as they wear off. I love getting up early though, but 4:30 feels like nighttime lol. Went for a walk, food shopping, made breakfast, listening to music, and catching up on threads here I like to post on. Love the sounds of the kids in the park, little giggles coming in through the window.Found out my College where I work is going to change the health insurance next year, from 100% coverage to 90/10, so I’m going to have to figure out where to buy supplemental health insurance, if I can. If anyone has any suggestions of either services that help cancer patients purchase insurance, (websites or orgs) or advice on researching options… dm me please. Thanks gals , happy Saturday ❤️❤️💃
4 -
Rhonda - Try AARP for supplemental health insurance. What they offer varies from state to state, so you will have to research what is specifically offered in your state, and weigh it against other options.. I think the main AARP website allows you to link to your individual state to view what they have there. It's been awhile for me, but that's my memory. Good luck with it - it's a shame about the health insurance situation in our country, but it is what it is.
4 -
RJshaller, I am in your pocket for picking up supplemental insurance and yes it is a shame about the health insurance system for everyone in the US.
I just woke up, slept pretty well but did not wind up going to bed til 4am but not bothered, I was jonesing for some chocolate and there it was. I am not bothered though need to do better tonight since I have to phone Paratransit tonight.
Drain is great, storing drano in meantime. Still got plenty of laundry. I did look at keeping the smaller repaired washer in the bedroom, easy enough to push on the floor butmakes the space between closet and bed pretty narrow so back to the tub it goes. Just have to adjust things. Also repaired the lint filter that came with newest bgger one, which may have been behind the clog. Let too much stuff get to the drain. Sewed up holes and fastened to the clip it attaches too. The foldable buckets I got when I was unsure of how to do the laundry if drain was plugged are small, plan to keep recyclables with the other two recycle bins. What I am running into is having
I am also proud that I did not make purchases not needed. First was the fast food craving and then there was a craving to buy something else but squashed it down. I have extra money I can use but really want to try and not use it. Got TV ads paying a bit, got interesting cooking videos to watch and between chores, will just play my favourite couple of games on my phone for a wee bit of cash and trigger ads to play. Never going to make tons but it can take a few dollars off my bills. I wish I was better at surveys, they usually pay more but always get DQ.
Today, am looking toward making up Mexican rice from a box, heat that up and store in a container so I can mix up the rice, an egg and the chili and beans. I still quite enjoy the chili and the seasoned beans. Queso is just fine and putting crunch in might be easier if I do not have a few tortilla chips by buying a box of the Kellogg's bran buds. I quite enjoy those as additional fibre. Having the extra container of the rice gives me more meal options. Already got a box of them and only 6 bucks which is fine. First meal will be two eggs, heated in microwave, chopped into cheese, small amounts of rice and the chili and chipotle beans. Put the eggs and beans into a pan I rub butter before heating and heat pan to high, stir everything for a moment and just put a lid on the pan. I want the beans finished today or tomorrow. Later might make english muffins into garlic bread as a meal side to some unopened cabbage salad and a meat pie. Also just found some ham slices in the freezer, was a large package from costco so need to use up, lots of space in the freezer and feeling no need to fill iit up. Will defrost in the fridge and use that as my protein, save the burgers until later. When the burgers are finished cooking when I decide to make them, put the grease in a container in the fridge and use a bit of grease to make stuff taste good, I am talking no more than a couple teaspoons. I will see how I wish to do it.
I also pay rent on a bank card. Gives me about 40 dollars in rewards for doing that so a shopping trip can be covered by that if necessary, if not will take note of it so that if I skip the shopping trip in the month, can have double for the next shopping trip. Looking at all this budgeting as a good and fun challenge.
Really rainy, exercise if any will be inside, just walk on spot or take small steps to get around for more movement throughout the day.
I hope everyone has a good day and in pockets for anyone who needs me.

Personally I am grateful for the US health system. Sometimes it takes efforts to deal with insurance companies and we often have co-payments but from what I've observed on these cancer boards, we have more access to drugs and treatments than any other country of which I am aware. Every single time I go to the doctor's or the hospital, I am asked if I need help paying for the treatments. I know many individuals who are poor yet have access to the top hospitals in my city and treatments. I am grateful that I am not in a country where I would get only 1 chance at a targeted therapy or had to travel hundreds of miles for radiation treatment or get encouraged to "end my life" to save the govt money.

SoI’ve been focusing on making a list in my mind each evening on what goals I want to accomplish The following day. So far I’ve been Getting things done and felt Pretty good about it, trying not to focus on the constant pain. My first goal this week was walking the block with the two pugs. I really miss walking them. never got to it because DH wanted me to walk with him around BJ’s food shopping, then. The Garden , and then walking around shop rite more food shopping. Came home did some laundry and changed the water of my container of my Sprouting lotus seeds…all putting out one roots and stems with small leaf buds.
Then yesterday DH wanted to work the on th aquarium vacuuming and doing a water change and replacing some green algae coated rocks with Clean ones. This. Is all a big job and I’ve been trying to talk him into getting an aquarium mainainance service to come in once every few months, but he insists he wants o do it himself. Since our whole married life we’ve always done this together as it’s always been a love of ours keeping aquariums over the years, We’ve always had 2 or 3 tanks going and always loved decorating and maintaining the myself when the kids were growing up whe they were 20 & 50 gallon tanks. Then in the 90’s when we bought our big dream house on the water, he got two huge aquariums. One was 150 gallon in my Art room and one was a huge. 350 gallon Saltwater tank in the living room. He paid a maintenance service because we never kept saltwater 🐠 fish, only fresh water tropical and then the colorful African Cichlids which are also fresh water fish. Over the years we eventually downsized and now only have the one 180 gallon aquarium of African cichlids. So yesterday not wanting him to do all himself, I helped him, which took all afternoon. So I felt good that i was busy getting this done. Then around 3:30 I put on a pot roast quickly, which came out delicious 😋. That was my accomplishment yesterday.
Last night I decided my goal was going to to be strengthening chair exercises hoping it would help my lumbar pain and neck issues. So this morning I accomplished that for 20 minutes of some arm weights and leg lifts and stretches, and neck stretching trying to touch my shoulders with my ears on each side…..didn’t do so well with that stretch. Now just hanging out in my room with my iPad.
Saying hi to @candy-678 hoping your glasses issue resolve soon. I don’t know how you’ve survived without them my girl🩵 @chicagoan hey there girl.🌷I hope you got over your cold. I’ve started up coughing again with all the pollen triggering my asthma.
@mara51506 you inspire me so it’s helping to make new goals each day🥰
@rlschaller sending you loving hugs and wishing you a good day today🌷
@threetree , @tanya_djamila @micmel @intolight @irishlove @mkestrel @tougholdcrow @emac877 lot’s of (((((((hugs)))))))😊🌷
@moderators I was wondering how to post a video of my aquarium, not long maybe 29 seconds.🩵🐠
5 -
Chicagoan, I am glad things are working well for you.
I am glad mine is free as I do get whatever drug has been called for in my case, scans as needed, not waiting a long time. I suppose having cancer shortens wait times for scans or surgeries related to cancer. It can take a long time for other surgeries but we are covered.
I figure as long as we can all have the care we need without being bankrupted and are covered for a variety of drugs, that is all we can ask for or need in our own health paths.

Shanagirl, thank you. The drain is still working well post aggressive plunging and taping up the over flow above to keep more water going down the drain.
Decided to skip eggs this meal since I want a generous meal with the rice, beans and chili mixed. The mexican rice took the longest. Putting a couple of spoonfuls in a butter rubbed dish first, then the chili and beans. Put a lid on the bowl and microwave 3 mins so the cheese melts, bringing out and putting some croutons or crumbled chips, dollop of queso, small dollop, some sour cream again a small dollop and season with dry seasoning. Mix of some taco and sour cream and onion. That seasoning is my addiction but makes stuff taste so good and a dash of salt. I am looking forward to the bran to give me a ton of fibre and crunch.Di
Edit on the meal, due to the mexican rice still having some liquid I did not add other items like queso and sour cream. I did make up the rice, about 1/4 will go in the fridge. Took a big bowl, butter before adding ingredients, the rice I thought I wanted, spooned in the rest of my chili and the chipotle beans, got 3 more cans of thos and a bunch of cheese. Covered with a lid and heated for 3 min 30 seconds, let the bowl cool a bit and added dry seasonings, sour cream and onion seasoning, took a pack of Kraft Dinner and copted the cheesy powder and salted lightly, stirred it together, came out very filling and super creamy and was a good thing to not add the sour cream anyway since I used sour cream during the rice instead of butter as suggested. I will have rice in a container and the meal I just haad. Plan to microwave the egg and chop it in and blend in with what I left over.
The meal did take a long time due to the mexican rice but it was really very good and have no doubt that using a couple of eggs will make a good and quick second meal.

Chicagoan - In spite of our medical system not being perfect, I am very glad that we have what we do, as it could be a lot worse, and I agree that it still might be the best one in the world. I really don't like it though, when I hear about so many having to submit treatment plans for approval from insurance companies, and then they are turned down, large co-pays, being cut-off from insurance, etc. I don't like that someone can travel a bit and then if something goes wrong they find out that they are "out of network" and can't get local care where they've travelled to, etc. I don't like all the Medicare drug plan issues with different formularies and older people (and often sick) needing to sort out all the plans, the costs, and what plan would be right for them, etc. On the one hand it's nice that there is so much choice, but then to expect the ill and the elderly to have to sort it all out by themselves can counter some of that niceness.
I work in social services and at times accompany and/or meet up with elderly and/or disabled people at medical appointments. Most all of these people are on SSI and Medicaid. One of the things that I have been so grateful for, is that these clients of an agency I work for have the full opportunity to see the same well renowned cancer specialist (or whatever) at the local university or best specialty place around as anyone, and their treatment is just as well covered. They have both access and coverage. I am very appreciative that things like low income, homelessness, mental illness, and more do not bar anyone on programs like SSI and Medicaid from getting the best treatment around, and that that treatment is not in any way reserved only for those of better means.
Shanagirl - Glad to hear that you are feeling notably better and are moving forward with goals, etc. What a nice aquarium. I wouldn't dare even try to manage one of those things, but they are wonderful if you know how to take care of them. So calming and peaceful. Thanks for the photo, and also hugs back!
5 -
@shanagirl - the easiest way to share your video here would be to upload it to either YouTube or Vimeo, and then post the link to your video here! You can also try uploading the video file directly if it's an MP4 file, but that is not always a reliable method.

Shanagirl, I do want to say doing up a list is a great idea, thinking I need to adopt that. I get some stuff done that I want to but a list would be a great idea for me as well. I tend to be scattered when I start and get sidetracked by something else. I also love the aquarium.
Today, not really sure what is on the agenda today. If not raining, fit in a half hour walk possibly. I did finally get Paratransit booked for Herceptin appointment on Wednesday. Took an hour of calling and getting a busy signal as so many people calling for rides, then got through and waited another 15 mins. I do not mind those things because I am grateful for the service.
Working through laundry, planning to put back the repaired washer as well. Have to put some microfibre cloths over a broom to clean the tub as I really am not feeling moving the bigger one out. Drain is still clear, no drano used. One thing I am doing is keeping water level below the lint filter that came with the large washer. Later will figure out mesh for the end of the hose or use one of the dozens of Walmart bags and and fashion a filter to catch any other lint. Another new thing to do.D
Edit re laundry, am trying using walmart shopping bags, I get so many, put it on the end of the drain pipe to see how well it drains. I know it will hold any lint there could be as well. Save me from buying stuff, working really hard not to spend money. Did pay for youtube premium and that is it so far. Cancelling my 16 channel stack tv on the primevideo. I watch one show which is the young and restless. Only reason I kept it was I enjoyed the day ahead but 15 dollars a month for one show makes no sense.
Edit 2, kept TV channels, was offered it for half the cost. The walmart bag cut to fit the washer drain was OK but decided to try fastening one of my small bag containers. Seems to look OK as I did not want holes to allow anything to escape from. Another option could also be a sock but those get really clogged and slow the drain. Oh well, I will see.
Need to focus on egg meals mostly. Still got almost 30 eggs and I do not want to waste them. I may just heat in a regular bowl, spray cooking spray, whip up a couple of eggs and put things like pepper and whatever. Microwave two to 3 mins and chop with cheese shreds and regular green beans and add the prepared rice, add to bottom. Can be microwaved OR heat my pan, add butter, turn on high, dump the chopped stuff into the pan, get it sizzling and turn off heat with a lid. That is an appealing option. Another option is fry a burger, collect the grease in a container and store in the fridge to use as a boost to the taste of other dishes, chop in the cooked burger and use it over the space of 3 days or so. I actually like the Walmart burgers. When it comes to beans, starting to think the flavoured ones are more economical as they add tons of flavours. I will edit this post with what I decide to have.
Edited, decided simple was better. Took two eggs, cracked in sprayed large bowl, added a mini potpie to the middle and then some garlic to melt while cooking. Microwaved with a lid for the 3 mins 30 seconds. Cut everything with knife and fork, added caesar dressing, garlic and parmesan and the sour cream and onion seasoning, dash of salt. It was really quite delicious.
Edit on the last meal, went simple and decided to have leftover mexican rice and added a lot of the All Bran cereal for the fibre but other nutrition as well, will be putting queso and sour cream and just bind it all together. I did not find the bran cereal overly good so will simply dispose of it, stick to beans and veggies for the fibre.
I hope all have a good day and in pockets for all who need me.

I can make up the "to do" list, but then forget to look at/use it. Sometimes I will look at an item on the list and say to myself, "Oh, not today." This is something that has come on, however, since being diagnosed with cancer. I used to do fairly well with a list - not perfect and everything done, every day, but it was a very helpful and useful guide. Now I find that I don't remember to use it or I'm scattered about it if I do, and that I just really don't have the motivation, i.e. I feel like I don't really care. I think it might be due to drug side effects and fatigue.
3 -
Shana girl I think the list is a great idea. Threetree I know the side effects and aging have me not as focused and short term memory is probably the thing I struggle with the most. I’m gonna try a list this week and I’ll report back.
Mara you write your ideas for cooking etc on here. I think that helps keep you organized especially with your cooking.
Take care all
Tanya

I absolutely need to use to-do lists or I forget about things I need to do. Last year I got a really nice planner from CVS for only $15. There are monthly pages and then within each month, pages for each week that have 10 lines for each day. I write down my daily tasks-even putting down the time I need to leave for various appointments. If I don't get something done, I add it to the next day. No task is too small for my list and there is a sense of accomplishment at crossing things off.
4 -
@shanagirl Beautiful aquarium and it has such a peaceful presence. Glad you were able to help DH and you accomplished all your goals. I am a list maker also it definitely helps me achieve more.
@threetree Your job is very rewarding and I’m happy to hear there is help out there for everyone to get good care.
@rlschaller We certainly have been having beautiful weather glad enjoying it too. Much needed rain today. I have a elementary school behind my house and I also love to hear the kids playing outside at recess. Hope your search for supplemental insurance isn’t too daunting. I second checking out AARP, good luck 🤞🏻.
Lazy day here just on my laptop and watching Phillies game. I feel like my body is trying to fight off something. We’ll see what tomorrow brings. Hope everyone is having a decent day💕

@threetree I am with you—I don't do well with lists anymore. I keep detailed notes in my online calendar for appointments and including arrival times, etc. I find I must make a list for meals for company and sometimes if I am cooking more than one dish that have different times and temperatures. (I cook dinner each evening for the four of us.) I get frustrated when I don't remember how old something is in the refrigerator. I refer back and forth on a pattern I am crocheting which I never used to have to do. My short term memory is terrible, including keeping track of you all on this website!
The list goes on and on, but I am thankful to still be here. Not remembering things reminds me I still have things in my life to remember. I am fortunate to have a husband who is also retired and is around to help. We do the best we can and offer as much grace as possible to others who struggle with their own difficulties.

Good (early) morning all. I can't recall if I took sleeping aide and pain meds at midnight or not. I think that check off list is a great idea as my memory is really poor lately. Geez if I take meds after taking meds, I'm gonna be goofy. Oh wait, I already am. lol
Been watching the Phillies, too. DH bought me MLB coverage for season. Of course if Phillies play Atlanta or Tampa or Miami, the coverage is blocked. Yeah right, like I'd drive that far to see any of those teams. No offense meant towards their fans, just happy to watch on TV.
No Pet-CT till end of June. Guess Humana doesn't want to pay for more than one a year if I am stable. That will make it 9 months, however I did have an abdominal CT scan end of Dec. that showed a great deal of territory of this old body. MO happy with that. Gave me a referral for Neurosurgeon to evaluate the spinal disc compression. The pain is horrible, so hoping they will just insert a wee bit of cement and make it better. Would certainly improve quality of life.
Anyone else bothered by tree pollen or whatever is going on? No rain for so long and my sinuses are horrible along with a very sore throat. We were suppose to have heavy rain yesterday (received 5 minutes) and severe weather today (nada, it blew over). Severe restrictions on watering including using sprinkler for grass. Eh, my grass is a wonderful color of scorched earth. No need to mow.
In pockets for all your needs my sweet friends.

Cookie, hoping nothing happens to you illness wise, in your pocket for a winning fight.
So far as lists, I am going to stick with one task at a time. My current task is to return the repaired small washer back to the tub. I did remove part of a yoga mat holding it in place but I do not feel that is needed so tossing out since it is quite dirty. Still got a mat overtop old broken bench. Keeps repaired washer in place Better for my bedroom to remove the washer and free up space. Knocked over basket of socks lifting it in, taking a few minute break, will go back to it. I would also like to fully clean kitchen sink too before drain flies show their ugly heads, it drains well but best is not to have anything in it. Dump the hot not boiling water down the drain on the regular in all drains. Keep drano for more emergent situations.
No luck with the mesh bag put over the drain BUT the draining was made super slow in the process so not covering the drain hose, use lint filters I have and call it a day, keep sending the hot water post washes and know that I can take care of any clog with plunger. I am unwilling to spend further at this point. Multi lint filters in washers should be enough and not completely filling the washers and the dump of hot not boiling water throughout the day will keep it clear. Will add the enzyme stuff I spray into cat box to rid any other stuff that might be in there. Get the repaired washer in wash and will need to run the dryer in my room throughout the day. Getting recycling and bags of garbage ready for wedesday night. Got a lot of containers to put in recycling. Might use the bucket I s I bought and no longer need to hold recycling or to hold the stuff that drains out of larger panda spinner when doing blankets.
Not sure what to have, I ate and throughly enjoyed the chili, the bush beans are also quite good. Resisting buying anything so no mall walking, just walks around the block for 30 mins, got all day and after dinner to get that done as well. If I really want anything, take money earned and add to regular budget or get gift cards from Amazon and Walmart to reduce cost, got another couple of credits as well that can supplement too. Just a really fun frugal challenge for me, I do have my savings as back up if needed and separate account for Amazon needs.
Eggs are back, planning to have regular rice as well. Heat whisked eggs in large bowl that has already had rubbed butter in it, put the eggs and beans in, not sure what kind of beans, probably green and chop egg and beans with some cheese in the chopper, rub frying pan down with cheese and add some garlic, heat pan to high, put in the chopped egg, bean and cheese and put the rice in as well, give a quick stir while on high, then turn pan off with lid and let everything flow through flavour wise. Not sure about later. Still loving the Bush's bean fiesta, has the mild chipotle but they make you buy four as a minimum purchase. Not sure what I am having later.
I hope everyone has a good day and in pockets for those who need me. I also need reminding that I can walk in the evening now, does not have to be earlier.

Finally got my glasses!!! Of course, my brain has to catch up. It is that way with every pair of glasses I have had (and I have had a ton of new glasses, with wearing them since I was 7 years old). But I will adjust. It will be good to read a book again!!! I was having withdrawls from not reading for 6 weeks!!!

@candy-678 So glad your glasses finally arrived! I know what you mean about the brain having to catch up. Hope your new vision will be great and you can get back to enjoying your books.

Candy, I am so glad your glasses arrived too, enjoy your reading again.
Well, today is better weather, may actually go for the walk. Not much going on for me beyond usual chores, Laundry, vacuum etc. Sink actually cleared and cleaned, was one goal. Budget boosting, want to get more of those chipotle bean mixes for less money.
I will be opening more beans, green I think and will chop those into food as they are not my favourite, they were on sale, some rice with riced veggies. May also fry a hamburger, keep grease in container and use for other dishes. Burger itself gets chopped into ground beef. Add to other dishes that I make. Will add edits later after eating.
I hope everyone has a good day and I am in anyone's pocket who needs me.
