Got my free get out of jail card today - lol! So many flu cases at the hospital. I feel better, am coughing much less, just real tired. Am very happy to be home and get to sleep in my own bed. And my puppers was so happy to see me!
Mara - you have been in my prayers today for a successful surgery and speedy recovery.

Mara I join the crowded pocket for pocket duty during this time for you. I miss your cooking cleaning posts already. Hopefully we’ll hear from you soon.
Goldensrbest sorry you are sick with the flu. Sounds like a monster. I got the flu shot but they’re saying it’s not effective for this strain. Feel better soon.
Irish love happy belated birthday.
I’ve been reading along and not posting much lately. I’m trying to visit my mom in NC next week and trying to stay away from flu for both of our sakes. She has copd and has been struggling lately.
Take care all and thanks for all the updates. I read daily and appreciate all.

Lost my post again. Really need a new computer. Just one wrong touch or pause too long, and poof, the post is gone.
I think I typed in everyone's name that has been on this thread lately. Just wanted to acknowledge how difficult it's been for each of you in this never ending fight against this wicked disease. The flu this year has been reported to be the worse in many years. The thinking we struggle to get threw it and the consequences are an even more weakened system, makes sense to me. Since the middle of Oct. I haven't been well. This feeling in my body reminds me of mononucleosis, from those younger days. We are staying home and when we go out, we wear a mask. Frankly I don't have the stamina to shop. A warm pair of slippers and a recliner works for me. Just call me Mrs. Kravitz, as I survey the neighborhood from my window.
@mara51506 Mara, I hope you can feel all the love this group has been sending your way. It would be so wonderful for you to share a receipe again. And to hear what the kitties are doing. I hope your family is keeping you company during this difficult time. Love you to pieces. @goldensrbest So very happy they cut you loose from the hospital. Too many sick people their, makes sense to send you home. Lordy you have enough to deal with. @intolight @shanagirl @micmel @threetree @tanya_djamila @cookie54 @sf-cakes and anyone I inadverdently missed, please know I am in your pocket and praying for all. Waiting on springto come.

@threetree Thinking of you today, may your biopsy go quick and smoothly and yield good results.🤞
@goldensrbest So glad to hear you're home and on the mend. Enjoy the pups and continue to rest.💕
@shanagirl Hope it's a less achy day today for you. Sit by your window and enjoy some sun as it looks like clouds move in NJ for a couple days.🌞
Going to try to get outside today to take down Christmas decor and hopefully walk. I 've had this discomfort in my lower pelvis the last week, hoping it's nothing. Onc visit next Thursday anyhow so hopefully it's gone by then.Been gathering things for my daughter's bridal shower in early March. The theme is love and spring "Love is in Bloom" and my DH is building a flower cart. It will have buckets of flowers so guests will take a bouquet home with them. So need my cancer to cooperate and enjoy happy times ahead, fingers crossed!
Thinking of @mara51506 and continued prayers for her and all here.❣️

Surgery went well. Only issue was a sore pressure point but am able to adjust the bed and turn my head to remove pressure. Comes out tomorrow. Not sure when to come out of hospital.

@mara51506 Thank you for the update! So glad to hear the surgery went well. Continued prayers for a speedy recovery.
@irishlove When I lose a post, I quickly hit 'control Z' and it comes back. Does that work for you? I think these posts are ultra-sensitive.
We got a light dusting of snow early this morning, finally. We really need it. There is more on the way for today, then we are dry for a while again. The ski resorts are hurting and the plains are burning so Colorado is having its turn with the weather. My sister had a tornado this morning in Shawnee so it could be worse.
Thinking of all you other lovely ladies. @shanagirl @micmel @cookie54 @threetree @goldensrbest and any others I have missed. May this day bring relief and peace.

@mara51506 So glad to hear that the surgery went well and you are able to cope with the discomfort.
I had my scans yesterday-CT and bone scan. Everything looks stable compared to last August but those scans did not show the cancer that was picked up on an MRI. In the meantime, I have partially changed treatments, so I don't know what to think. Guess I'll see what my oncologist thinks.

@mara51506 I’ve been praying for you going thru that surgery. I am so glad to hear from you. Try to rest as much as you can and don’t burden your mind with how fast you can leave the hospital. Get your brain rested without energizer bunny racing thoughts about what needs to get done at home. Brain surgery requires longer hospital stays and PT before they let you out. When I had my Hemorrhagic brain bleed stroke, and 3 day coma, they did multiple scans & tests & then the hospital sent me to rehab before I was allowed to go home 7 weeks had passed,….the fact you are awake and texting now is very good. So stay calm and let your team do what they need to do..🩵 💗🌷

I think I heard a collective sigh of relief around the living room! So glad to hear all went well and you're on the mend @mara51506

Oh @mara51506 been waiting to hear from you and worried the whole time. Shouldn't have as you really are a brave trooper. Rest easy, and when you get home, put your feet up and forget about household things.
Hi everyone. Hope today finds you in a good place. I love the idea of a cart with flowers for guests @cookie54 Your DH is incredibly talented craftsman to build a flower cart. I'm so happy for your family as you await your DD's wedding. Beautiful theme, too.
I've tried to recover posts to no avail. I'm sure it's my keyboard. It's old and unruly. lol Just like my body. I'm retaining water in my ankles, under both kneecaps and my eyes are baggy. The knees and eyes are a new problem and look sightly. Ankles are stage 1 edema and a bit painful if I walk too much. Good excuse to sit on my fav chair and watch the birds go bye.
In your pockets for all your needs.

@mara51506 - Thinking of you today of course. Please keep us informed about your progress, as you can, and depending on how you feel. I'm still in that pocket!

Mara, I think you must think hospital food is tasteless compared to your usual inventive combinations.
6 -
@wren44 I had decent food when DB and SiL came to visit. We went to subway and got chips. Rest of it was not bad. I have free reign to walk around the hospital with a cane. On steroids and not allowed sleep mask due to surgical site. My bed has chargers so can watch movies or charge devices. Think I'll be out by Monday. Same scar as before, no wig allowed for while either. More later.

@mara51506 Gal you sound so good. Keep on movin and they will let you out earlier, because no one could possibly keep up to you. lol I just don't know how you keep it together and be ready for the next trip out and about. Do let others take good care of you. You are so deserving of it and healing will come quicker if you are well rested.
Today I called my pharmacy to see if hydrocodeine /w aceta. rx was ready. Tech said after 2, but that it was for oxycodone. I've never had oxycodone before and didn't discuss this with anyone. At first I thought, well MO must feel it's time to move up to better pain relief, but I just couldn't imagine him doing that without seeing me first. I read the warning about building up on the med and lower the other pain med. That set off red flags so I called the office. Unfortunately no one called me back before they closed. Pharmacy closes for weekend. Gonna be a long weekend…

Mara - I agree you sound great! Hope your recovery continues to be speedy. Lots of prayers answered!
Irish - sorry about the Rx mixup. Hope the weekend is easy on you until you get some answers.

GoodMorning!!
@mara51506 Here’ hoping your day today is recovering continued. They don’t let you rest a lot in the hospital with a brain injury as they call it. Constant blood tests. BP tests, checking IV, the most annoying thing for me was catching the bottom of my feet with a sharp object and asking if i felt that. My diet was only thickened water and jello to keep me from choking as they check swallowing ability.. The brain has needs and treatments and aftercare that is unique. Stay well @mara51506 🩵🌷
@irishlove Dear Laurel, I am sorry that your pain med got mixed up. I’m very Upset if there is any change . both seem to work equally for me. and usually not long enough between doses so in often intersperse them with good ole Excedrin and the topical Diclofenac Gel (Voltaren) massaged into my painful bone Mets. Wishing. You a Beautiful day and get some rest .
♥️Barbara

@mara51506 - Things are sounding good - so, so glad to hear it, and so glad that you have your family to help.
@irishlove - What a mess to be facing for the week-end. These medical systems sure have their glitches. These "surprise" changes, when nobody has told you it's coming are something I've noticed are not uncommon. I'm sorry you've got this going on and hope all can get easily straightened out on Monday.

I am sleeping some. They got me immodium due to loose stool. I should have brought immodium and digestive enzymes. Head still feeling better each day. Little lonely here due to few visits from fsm but my house was thoroughly cleaned. Miss my kitties.
6 -
@mara51506 I think the hospital does not want you bringing your own medications. It's important for the medical team to know exactly what is in your system. Hopefully you can get some good rest and enjoy your walks, movies etc when you are awake. Seems like you are making a great recovery despite loose stools. Hope you'll soon be home to the loving attention of your kitties.

@chicagoan They gave me 20 immodium. So far so good.

I had a biopsy last Thursday for a bump that showed up on my chest/sternum, near where the original tumor was. It sure looked like cancer to me (skin met? new sternum lesion popped through the skin?), and my onc thought so too, so ordered the biopsy. I got some at least preliminary results this morning and they say that it did indeed test "positive for invasive carcinoma". All the details about what kind, etc. didn't show up, so I'm assuming they will take longer. The nurse practitioner told me it would take 7 days, so I was surprised to see the MyChart message this morning. Maybe she meant 7 days for all the info to be known. I'm supposed to be starting the Xeloda now within a few days, and if it works, maybe that will knock this back. It's also my understanding that the area on my sternum, although previously radiated (proton) can be radiated again, so maybe that is some sort of possibility too. I'll just have to wait and see what the oncologist says. Boy, when the Verzenio and faslodex quit working, it looks like they really quit! The last couple of months have bee really something with the progression in my bones and liver, and now this thing on my chest. I sure hope something works and works soon!
5 -
@threetree Sorry to hear this news. I don't have any suggestions, just letting you know I am here with «<hugs.»
4 -
@threetree-That's not the news you wanted, I'm sure. Here's hoping that Xeloda knocks all those cancer cells down and that you have many more good years in this life.
3 -
That is so nice of you, @intolight to just make your self known with hugs. It's perfect and makes me feel really good to be thought of. I want to send some hugs right back to you too, as you have also been through a lot these last couple of months, and are also hoping for a new drug to work well.
@chicagoan - I so appreciate your comment; it's very helpful. It looks like you sure had a good run with Ibrance. That's great, and I do hope I can get a good long run with some kind of drug here!
2 -
Threetree - sorry you tested positive for skin Mets , they are my personal albatross. Hopefully the Xeloda will kick back everything, and hold the skin Mets in check. Systemic treatment is always the best choice, for all the areas on the skin and within. Skin Mets can respond well to radiation, and be radiated in the same place. That has been my experience. Hugs during this time of change in treatments and progressions, never easy ..hugs ❤️
Wishing everyone a pain free weekend , as best as can be . Rainy here and cold, snuggled in with a good book tonight.
