Debmisto this is your day soon you will be through your first day with chemo. May your fears be assuaged, may you have no SEs. When you are finished with your infusion do something special for your self even if it is just something as simple as listening to some favorite music while you relax in favorite spot in your home.

Collen, you also start today you will be back soon in the class room doing the job you obviously love. When you get home give your babies an extra hug or two it is the best medicine in the entire world. Let your husband and little ones spoil you rotten serve you breakfast in bed things like that. Especially for the children it lets them feel a bit of control in a circumstance they have no control over to be able to spoil you. Good luck today.

Thank you AMBurt!! Debsmisto good luck to you today, I look forward to hearing how your day goes. I’m ready to get this started and feel like I am doing something to attack this crap! Deb-have you heard about your scans? I’m going to get a copy of my lymph node biopsy while I’m there today so I can study it further.

My pet/ct scan is Tuesday and I do not want to wait any longer!! Anyone know why she would order that but not a bone scan? Do they sometimes do first one, then the other? I’m going to ask her at my next apt but I don’t see her today-not till the chemo on the 22nd.

Welcome to the new ladies! And hope everyone who has already begun is feeling well today. <3

Hope everything went well for Colleen and Debsmisto!

Thank you for the explanation about the different scans. I am such a picky eater!!!! How I am going to survive drinking yucky stuff!!!!

Glad to hear that the ladies who had chemo earlier this month can now go back to their normal life and welcome to the new ones!

I was quite upset today. Drove 45 minutes to have a saliva genetic test and when I arrived, they told me they were out of kit! where is the consideration for the patient! Let me tell you, they won't see me again. My daughter is anxious for me to take this test because she wants to know if she might be at risk in the future and now I have to tell her that she will have to wait longer. Frustrating. They should call the patient! sometimes, people working for doctor should get a customer service class. Sorry to vent here!

Cheers to all and all my thought for you1

lolotte - feel free to vent anytime. We're here to listen. That was pretty crappy not to have the kit for you. You have enough going on. Hopefully the genetics tests ( when you do go them) will be negative. I have 2 daughters so we were concerned, especially with some not too distant relatives BRCA positive. Keep in mind most people with breast cancer do not carry the BRCA mutation.

For the CT scan, you will get through the drink. I actually didn’t quite finish mine but the technician felt I had enough. Show up nice and thirsty. It might help

Collen I to am having the PET scan mine will be on Monday. It you get the PET the bone scan is not needed because the PET shows everything that takes two scans to find if you get a bone scan and ct. Actually the PET scan has been known to find tiny tumors that could not be found with the combination of the bone scan and ct. Insurance companies often don't want to pay for a PET it does cost them more, however for the patient it is better in many ways.

Hi everyone thanks for checking on me I got home a little bit ago was there a total of 9 hours so I'm pretty tired good news is I had no immediate reactions to the chemo or any of the drugs and the best news was both of my scans were clear so I will celebrate when I'm not quite so worn out like one of you said put on my favorite music and sit and enjoy it as far as bone scan and CT scans versus PET scan I think a little of that's about your insurance company and what they're willing to pay 4 oh and by the way my next 5 fusions will be an hour and a half shorter than today and probably not nearly as long of a total visit my hair is still about the link that is in my picture I'm going to get it cut in about a week I think I told you guys I'm a hairstylist so I'll get somebody at work to cut it and I got a couple wigs that are about my length but more one length wavy beachy waves so we'll see how that goes okay got to go eat a small meal and try and keep the side effects away talk to you all soon and thank you for checking on me

Deb I had my meeting with my nurse today and we went over everything and how to handle the side effects. I will be getting the pod also she told me to take tylenol 30 minutes before it goes off. To start the Claritin that morning and take it for 5 to 7 days unless you have seasonal allergies then you can take it every day. She told me that the bone and joint pain last between that 5 to 7 days. I plan to take it all 7 days myself. Sorry you had such a long day but am so glad that first round is over for you and you seem to have handled it so well!

Good luck tomorrow butterflylilly and worriedme77 with your chemo. Let's get round one done.

Deb - for Neulasta,I started taking Claritin on chemo day, Tuesday. I was advised to take it for another 4-5 days. Dr told me to use Tylenol or ibuprofen also if I need it. I'm not achy yet but I'm waiting. I'll let you know what happens tomorrow when all of the steroids are out of my system

Positive energy to butterflylilly and worriedme, the next of the Feb. ladies to take this huge step in defeating this beast. To those who have already taken this step may you be blessed with no or few side effects. Remember to take some time each day for yourselves it is important to healing.

Deb- I had discomfort 48 hours after my injection. I am 6 days out from my injection. I didn't take Claritin, but I read it helps. I did use a heating pad and took pain medication at the 48 hour mark for two days. My tolerance for pain medicine is low, so I only took two a day. I started walking 30 minutes a day before my first treatment. I think this helped. My discomfort this round was felt around my thigh bones. I plan to try Claritin the next round to see which works best.

Fatigue is what is surprising me. I have slowed down, but I definitely need naps. I take on before work and when I get home. Yesterday I had took a nap during lunch. The last time I did that I was in my early 20's and definitely for a different reason.

Anticipating what's next has had me all over the place. I am now comforted that everyday I get learn more about my body. I log how I feel and am working on being open to the fact my next round may be totally different.

If my family and friends read the line above they would in shock. Addressing any health concern is a process.

Stay strong everyone, WE got this.

welcome to all our new members here on this February chemo list I will catch up with all of you when I'm not so in the moment with my treatments as you all understand I know , so my treatment went as well as could be expected no immediate side effects however by last night I had a migraine that was at least an 8 on the Pain Scale and let me tell you it was a doozy and I did end up taking my anti-nausea meds more for the migraine it has gotten better today my neulasta goes off at 7:15 tonight so I've taken one Claritin this morning will take my Advil or Tylenol whichever right before the neulasta goes off otherwise fatigue wise I don't feel too bad the headaches got me a little down and all the meds. Hoping those of you who have had your first treatment or doing okay and I'm learning from reading all your adventures on this road hoping for the rest of you about to start treatments that you do well too and please check in here I have learned so much from all these women.

    Whew-what a week.

So I thought I was ok on day 3. I was not. The shaking got worse and I had somewhat of a meltdown. I became extremely confused and agitated, apparently I was talking crazy and crying - I was convinced I had permanent brain damage. Eventually I calmed down but everyone decided I shouldn't be driving for a bit so I'm being escorted around town for now. I barely remember anything that happened from Wednesday morning until Thursday night.

I'm not sure what caused it. Chemo or one of the support drugs. Who knows. I think going from not taking anything to taking all this crap probably overloaded my system. At any rate, I feel fine now except for being tired. I never had any bone pain.

Now that I know what to expect I'm sure I'll be able to deal with everything better during subsequent rounds.

Who else feels like you want to unsubscribe from all this? I don't remember signing up! sheesh

Hi Ladies! My 1st round of chemo went good on Wednesday. The one thing kicking my butt is how tired I am..I seriously feel like I'm in my 1st trimester of pregnancy lol. I have a little bit of queeziness in the mornings, but that is it. So far so Good! Also, the headaches like Deb have caught me off guard..didn' expect them..but again, all of my SE are in the morning, and I feel fine by 11/12pm. I went back to work yesterday..and i have to say, i am SO glad i did! Keeps my body moving and my mind other places!

Good Luck to everyone who started chemo this month. I had BC in 2009, 4 rounds of A/C and then 12 weeks of Taxol followed by 6 weeks of daily radiation. I had the A/C every other Monday and by Thursday I was sick. Constipation played a big part in that I think, I should have walked more. One thing that helped was my dr. gave me Ativan for anxiety. I lost my hair the second week, which was what I was scared most about, but then the time came I was so hyped and was all about getting it cut! I had the best girl who made it so much fun. It kind of felt freeing and made me feel in control of my cancer and it wasn't controlling me!! I didn't wear a wig either, too itchy so I wore hats.

Hope everyone is feeling ok this evening! My first AC was yesterday. Felt totally fine until about 7pm, started getting nauseous and waited too long to take meds. Don’t wait! I was chasing the nausea for several hours before I got it back under control.

I feel more on top of it today and have just been sleepy mostly. Took meds the second I felt a bit yucky. I’m usually a very low-med taking person so taking alllll this crap is a big adjustment for me.

Currently receiving my neulasta dose as I lie here on the couch. Praying those SE’s aren’t too bad. I swear tho I can take anything but nausea!

Thinking and praying for each of you ladies. <3
