We all know that the GOP are horrendous and will see this as a green flag to continue their looting of our country and the exploitation of the 99.9%
But I hope the Dems are taking a good hard look at themselves as well. They relied too heavily on the Not-Trump line. They aggressively courted borderline Reps, but took Progressives for granted. They correctly leveraged women's healthcare and reproductive freedom, but openly mocked those concerned about Netanyahu. They highlighted the stock market as an indication of a booming economy, but pointedly ignored sharp increases in credit card debt and predatory interest rates. They did a lot of good for a lot of people, but they refused to go after the rot in the center that voters were focused on: grotesque tax breaks, privatized profits with subsidized losses, the suppressed minimum wage, health care and insurance costs, food prices, and housing inaccessibility. All of these have corporate greed and market manipulation at their core.
Biden accomplished great things for America, and deserves full credit for his hard work. But he wasn't perfect. And that's ok. Harris missed the opportunity to be distinct from Biden when she said she wouldn't have done anything differently. That deeply hurt her chances, because voters were signaling very strongly that they wanted something different, not more of the same with a younger face. And they wanted different so badly, that they were willing to let a proven disaster have a second chance.
Personally, I think the Dems squandered their chances when they snubbed Warren and Sanders in 2016. They didn't even try to hide the fact that they were stacking the deck for Hillary's nomination. I think Hillary would have made a fantastic president - but by denying her the chance to square up on her own against a worthy challenger, by not letting her policies face a fair comparison with Bernie's, they completely undermined her credibility and disillusioned progressives. They're paying the price now with a fractured party that acts like it's more beholden to their high-end donors (same as Reps) than the people it claims to represent.

What worries me most - Trump is a puppet. Those pulling the strings and controlling him (or trying to) are the ones who worry me.

Peace of mind just can't be bought. Trust me: Even if your conscience doesn't stop you from playing dirt to get what you want, once you get it, it will keep you from enjoying it. As my mother used to say, "A good conscience is God's eye." Which is why I always prefer a loss to an underhanded gain; the one brings pain at the moment, the other for all time.

Minus two. Excellent point. Trump was NEVER an actual president and there is less of him now for sure. He is so open to flattery and monetary rewards, and he doesn't care a wit about who they come from or how he gets them.

Not much changed today. No real point to that shame, blame, and regret for us. I'm going to leave that for those on the other side and I do believe it will come soon enough for them. I don't think it was things we on our side necessarily did wrong — although there are always 'things'. This is a huge place with so many so always someone not happy. You can't be all things to everyone.
People didn't like Israel, the economy and immigration. Needed someone to blame and obviously we got to be it - despite the fact, even though many refused to see it, that Pres. Biden was giving us and the U.S. the best economy it had seen in such a long time. The media — well, they helped nothing at all. The clever parsing drove Pres. Biden to withdraw giving Harris/Walz such a short time to make their case. That said, I'm not sure it wouldn't have ended this way anyway —but there are things to consider, and the media coverages certainly is a standout. Their behavior was despicable.
Pres. Biden had some issues, but dementia wasn't one of them. He did often seem to struggle, but he KNEW what he was doing, and he was doing it just fine till the cherry pickers chose to change our entire life for their almighty ratings and the dollars behind them. In my mind, VP Haris stepped up and worked her heart out trying to overcome great time obstacles. Who else could have done such a good job in so short a time.
So onward we go. Let them have the shame, blame and regret. Were I the FG I'd be a little worried. Two assassination attempts already and a lot of Reps. disagreements with him. Well, perhaps another Cheeseburger will be the thing — but one way or the other, I'm not so sure just how long he will be around. I am pretty sure he will soon find many of his ideas almost improbable if not impossible to make happen.
You know, had we done what needed to have been done, swiftly, which is hold FG accountable for all he did to us the first time around — we would not be here now. He would have been long ago in the prison where he belonged, but we let it go — thanks Merrick Garland. Yes, we all still believe in the rule of law — but it needs to be meted out right after the fact. Who can say who we might have elected this time out, but had we taken care of our criminals when they SHOULD be taken care of it sure as heck wouldn't have been FG. I do believe that there are false accusations and reasons to give people time to present evidence to the contrary, but there are those times like 1/6 and documents stored in a bathroom that belong to the government and grifting and all the rest that are CLEARLY in evidence. And four yrs. later because we didn't do what needed to have been done upon immediately having the evidence of crime, and clearly showing we would not tolerate such blatant behaviors, we now have the most felonious individual ever back in a WH we had to fumigate after he left.
I still say there will be plenty of time for regret from those who saw a convict as the right choice for us. I also think we Democrats are going to have to learn how to be tough and get tough. We have been known for trying hard to be fair, and we have bent way too far over and gotten kicked for it again. Time to learn how to be hard as nails and fair at the same time.

So classy… and America screwed this one big time. When their Social Security is cut, they can’t get health coverage, we have sold all the national parks, and the constitution has been dismantled… they’ll lie, and blame the Dems instead of taking accountability…
Said about Harris' acceptance speech. I hope we can avoid some of these things, but we will have to learn once again, the hard way. Yes, indeed, we Democrats have to start getting tough as nails and not continue to acquiesce so easily to the whims and devices of the Reps. party.

Malice toward all and charity for none.
Unfortunately for now, but we are strong and can put asunder things that don't belong.

If your sane right now you should be embarrassed and full of rage for what has just happened.

We were un-doing so much. I hope we can do most of the repairs that will be needed

Considering most of what is sold on Amazon originates in China, wait until the tariffs kick in. Bezos wants to out earn the Muskrat so you will pay through the nose.

Realities of Nov 6th. I hope these voters learn the lesson now since they got so little from their preview.

It is going to be so difficult to say good-bye to Pres. Biden. How do you say good-bye to normalcy.

There is a fair amt. of truth to this, but I think it will be far worse now if no taxes and only tariffs etc. A bit harder to smile about YOU getting yours if they too are getting the same thing with no help in sight.
