Sen. Reed was one of the few who got to see the full FBI report on Hegseth. Trump kept it from all the other Democratic senators. This is something that should not be. But then Trump is the one who destroys norms, and rules of law.

Absolutely and being tortured the whole time. Seems like the orange one never has to pay. Hope great changes are coming — even if the majority of them have to wait for 4 yrs. Let the Reps. and the orange fool fall flat on their ugly faces.

Our moral compasses have gone way off kilter. I hope we can figure out how to get them back.

And this is who we get foisted off on us as leaders — idiot Reps. that make fools of themselves, but none of them care.

He won not by more people voting for him, but by the amt. of people who didn't vote at all. All the chaos and confusion he got into the mix creating so much turmoil a lot of people just stayed home.

Reps. a-hole at work. Wonder how many will mourn him when he goes.

Stupidity is so damn tiresome and that's about all you get from the Reps.

Another one doing a Ted Nugent. And sadly I really liked C. Underwood, but not so much now.

I've so enjoyed giving up news. I do watch local, but even then let most of the political slide pass easily. I'm in it for local weather and local stories. I see some on the Internet (highly selected for real accuracy) but I'm not contributing to keeping any of the former channels alive with my viewership.

Well, the losers can't say they weren't warned. How much louder would we have needed to be?

Hmmm, the one who should have gone four yrs. ago, but who gets the punch for it — a Democrat who as an ordinary citizen has no obligation to show up — even as a norm which is why the orange one needed to show up four yrs. ago — but that's Republicanism for you.

Nor do they report on her reason for not attending. He painted targets oh her and her family and that is unforgiveable as well as unforgettable. Pence's suck up made his wife cringe as well.

Another photo of Jimmy Carter's coffin being brought into the church shows all President's, their wives and others with their hands over their hearts including Melania. Nope for Trump on processional and recessional of the coffin. He must have said something to Melania because she didn't place her hand over her heart on the recessional. I'd like to live long enough to go piss on his grave.

I’m sitting here watching President Biden’s farewell address, wishing that I had the grace and optimism that he continues to express. I am happy that he is warning about the dangers of the high concentration of wealth, but this will fall upon deaf ears.

Thinking about the upcoming change of administration makes we so anxious, depressed, angry, tired, etc. When 45 was in office the first time, I spent 4 years waking up and immediately thinking about him and what horrible and ridiculous things he would be doing and saying that day. I don’t know that I have the strength to go through that for another 4 years, and to deal with the damage that will last well beyond that time.

I'm concerned about California, and about those idiots who feel that there should be strings attached to any emergency aid being given. I’m fortunate that for now, I have only been affected by falling ash and air filled with smoke, but a friend lost her home, and her son lost his business. Sadly she passed away today, having had a heart attack.

The next 4 years are likely going to be a real shit show. I hope we can continue to support each other and continue to fight for decency, civility and our democracy.

I'm just hating the next four years. I'm not sure how long Demented Don can be in the White House, but no one on the left would be in any way adequate. I agree with everything you said mom to bill. It is going to be difficult, and I am really afraid that like all things that make you sad, unhappy, horribly upset — I fear time will sometimes feel like slow motion.

At my age slowing the years down would be a welcome item, but not 4 yrs. of Reps. and FG. It won't be easy but I'm going to hang on for my family and friends. I may not be able to do much, but I'm going to try hard to support the people I care so much about and hope we all come out mainly in one piece.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend and for her son's loss of her and his business as well.

I think we, and half the country, all feel the same way. As I watched President Biden, who has devoted his entire life to the country, I thought of how heartbroken he must be to realize that half of the citizenry has literally no regard for the Constitution or even simple decency.

So sorry about your friend and her son, mom2bill. What a tragedy for so many.

The greatest force in the human body is the natural drive of the body to heal itself--but that force is not independent of the belief system.  Everything begins with belief.  What we believe is the most powerful option of all.

Ruth, love the meme. Guess we all thought the worst was behind us. What a terrific shock was really in store. Like you, I listened to Pres. Biden's final address and thought how fortunate we were that he was our Pres. but the horror he must feel at having to basically give all his life's work over to someone like Donald Trump. I think of just giving up something (time limits) you know you do very well with as quite difficult, but to give it up to a person of Donald Trump's lack of total stature in any way, shape, or form and know with certainty the destruction that will occur goes beyond my imagination.

I am pleased that he did spell out some of the harshest possible dangers. Many who should GET and HEED those warnings won't, but some may see it and hopefully if not enough, more will get it along the way. I'm so thrilled we had him to get us turned around. No matter what — he will be a shining example of what should be — despite the fact that so many chose to hold against him not giving those who never bothered to educate themselves into how recovery works and that is usually rather slowly, their confidence and votes and or later, Harris either.

Someone asked if he was now just going to get quiet and fade away. His answer was no. He still has the fighting for honesty, integrity. decency and democracy in him and I'm so glad. He will stand strong. What more could one ask.

I’ve always wondered how Germany could let Hitler take over and now I feel like I’m living that exact same scenario. I feel helpless
