BREAKING: Members of the January 6th committee hit back hard after Donald Trump threatens to illegally revoke the pardons that President Biden granted them: "Do it. Or shut up."
This is how you show no fear in the face of fascism...
"Despite their threats to Congresswoman Cheney and the chairman of our committee, Bennie Thompson, no one has committed any kind of infraction in the conduct of the Jan. 6 proceedings, nor in the preparation of our report, and no one has laid a glove on a single factual statement in our report," Congressman Jamie Raskin, who was on the committee, told The Hill.
"We are proud of our work documenting the insurrectionary violence and they haven’t contradicted any of our findings," he added.
"The January 6 Committee did its job," former Congressman Adam Kinzinger wrote on Substack. "It stood up for democracy while Trump and his sycophants tried to burn it down."
"The people who cooperated did so in the name of truth, accountability, and the preservation of our republic," he added. "They were almost ALL REPUBLICANS, And now, because he can’t handle reality, Trump wants to puff out his chest and threaten the committee?"
"Fine. Do it. Or shut up," wrote Kinzinger.
"The members of the Jan 6 Committee are all proud of our work," Congressman Adam Schiff, another member of the committee, wrote on X. "Your threats will not intimidate us. Or silence us."
Trump floated the deeply unconstitutional idea of voiding Joe Biden's pardons of the January 6th committee — issued by the former president in anticipation of Trump's vindictive revenge tour — on Truth Social last night.
"The 'Pardons' that Sleepy Joe Biden gave to the Unselect Committee of Political Thugs, and many others, are hereby declared VOID, VACANT, AND OF NO FURTHER FORCE OR EFFECT, because of the fact that they were done by Autopen," he wrote.
"In other words, Joe Biden did not sign them but, more importantly, he did not know anything about them! The necessary Pardoning Documents were not explained to, or approved by, Biden," he continued.
"He knew nothing about them, and the people that did may have committed a crime," he went on. "Therefore, those on the Unselect Committee, who destroyed and deleted ALL evidence obtained during their two year Witch Hunt of me, and many other innocent people, should fully understand that they are subject to investigation at the highest level."
"The fact is, they were probably responsible for the Documents that were signed on their behalf without the knowledge or consent of the Worst President in the History of our Country, Crooked Joe Biden!" Trump wrote.
Outlandish and unfounded allegations aside, Trump simply does not have the power to void a former president's pardons. That would defeat the entire purpose of pardons in the first place.
This is a soulless, evil deranged entity and in my view whatever he says about YOU has always fit him far better right down to the last dotted i. and t. What a total waste of the last 10 weeks. Chaos, destruction, fear, upset, and much more on the way — especially when you ignore courts and forget due process and go in total abnormal fashion.
