It's weird, and probably just my imagination, but my PBS station has been airing the Rick Steves doc on "The Rise of Fascism" --Mussolini, Hitler, etc--often, as well as docs about the Holocaust and the camps, etc... Usually, they air these shows in the spring---April, May--the months when WWII came to an end and the camps were liberated in 1945.
I wonder if PBS set these shows to air with the thought that DT might win the election, as information and admonitions concerning authoritarianism. I don't know when they set their schedules but every time one of these shows comes on I think that. (And now, of course, with Biden's win the threat's been muted--for now, anyway...)

The video below was pretty awful to see......really had an SS nighttime "surprise" raid feel to it..

If aliens come to abduct me, they'll undoubtedly have to turn around and head back out into space....
"We can't lift her!" I can hear them mumble as they exit. "She's too heavy!"

My DH is spouting a new conspiracy theory that tRump deployed the military in a "sting operation" to catch voter fraud. The "evidence" will be presented in time to change the trajectory of electoral college votes for Biden. Seriously?
If, as tRump claimed, there was massive voter fraud in 2016, why hasn't he done anything about it in four years? (Because this time he lost.)
Why is there only fraud in the states he lost? (Because he can't stand the thought of being a LOSER so is on De-Nial River in La-La Land.)
And, in WI, why is he only challenging the ballots cast in the Dem strongholds of Dane and Milwaukee Counties? (See above. Rinse & Repeat.)
If anyone is curious, the Congressional Research Service wrote a report in 2016 on the Legal Processes for Contesting the Results of a Presidential Election.

I heard or read somewhere that DT can't stand the number 306--the same number he won by in 2016 and declared a "landslide"...... he wants to do ANYTHING he can to change that, if only to flip one state in his favor, to change that dreaded, taunting, teasing # 306 to something else--anything else!

The trite saying that honesty is the best policy has met with the just criticism that honesty is not policy. The real honest person is honest from conviction of what is right, not from policy. -Robert E. Lee

Not so surprising I guess that we still have 'idiots' around all of us. So true they should all be forced to be invasive with each other. I thnk it might ( just might though ) be posssible for a slight few to come to their senses, but not soon enough. That some still think it is a hoax -- almost 285,000 deceased people does not in my book qualify as a hoax. The hoax in this case is orange and struts around like he has a right too, while busy trying to steal a fair and democratic election. We will get through all this, but boy -- it is not going to be easy and Betrayal and others -- I am so sorry for the harm that is coming to all of ur loved ones, be it friends or family
I do think some of our sleasy politicians w/o the guts to stand up to the orange thing need to be in the midst of those 'camps' for the non-believers and the 'my' right to do as I wish people. How soon they seem to forget ( at this time especially ) how many people died for them to be able to exercise some of their rights. No one 'died' so you could ignore human decency and care though. I do think the stanglehold that Trump seems to still have on some will start to evaporate. I don't ( hope ) think Trump will have time to keep pulling his 'idiots' out of the woodwork when he is out of office. Hopefully he will be too busy fighting to stay out of jail and having to pay back loans. I think he will no longer have so much Russian coddling and help either. The useful idiot have failed Putin. That usually doesn't bode too well.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Happy Safe Harbor Day, America.
Other than Wisconsin, every state appears to have met a deadline in federal law that essentially means Congress has to accept the electoral votes that will be cast next week and sent to the Capitol for counting on Jan. 6. Those votes will elect Joe Biden as the country's next president.
It's called a safe harbor provision because it's a kind of insurance policy by which a state can lock in its electoral votes by finishing up certification of the results and any state court legal challenges by a congressionally imposed deadline, which this year is Tuesday.
The Electoral College is a creation of the Constitution, but Congress sets the date for federal elections and, in the case of the presidency, determines when presidential electors gather in state capitals to vote.
In 2020, that date is Dec. 14. But Congress also set another deadline, six days before electors meet, to insulate state results from being challenged in Congress.
By the end of the day, every state is expected to have made its election results official, awarding 306 electoral votes to Biden and 232 to President Donald Trump.
The attention paid to the normally obscure safe harbor provision is a function of Trump's unrelenting efforts to challenge the legitimacy of the election. He has refused to concede, made unsupported claims of fraud and called on Republican lawmakers in key states to appoint electors who would vote for him even after those states have certified a Biden win.
But Trump's arguments have gone nowhere in court in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Most of his campaign's lawsuits in state courts challenging those Biden victories have been dismissed, with the exception of Wisconsin, where a hearing is scheduled for later this week.
Like the others, the lawsuit does not appear to have much chance of succeeding, but because it was filed in accordance with state law procedures for challenging election results, "it's looking to me like Wisconsin is going to miss the safe harbor deadline because of that," said Edward Foley, a professor of election law at Ohio State University's Moritz School of Law.
Missing the deadline won't deprive Wisconsin of its 10 electoral votes. Biden electors still will meet in Madison on Monday to cast their votes and there's no reason to expect that Congress won't accept them. In any case, Biden would still have more than the 270 votes he needs even without Wisconsin's.
But lawmakers in Washington could theoretically second-guess the slate of electors from any state that misses the Dec. 8 deadline, Foley said.
Already one member of the House of Representatives, Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala., has said he will challenge electoral votes for Biden on Jan. 6. Brooks would need to object in writing and be joined by at least one senator. If that were to happen, both chambers would debate the objections and vote on whether to sustain them.
But unless both houses agreed to the objections, they would fail.
The unwillingness of Trump and his supporters to concede is "dangerous because in an electoral competition, one side wins, one side loses and it's essential that the losing side accepts the winner's victory. What is really being challenged right now is our capacity to play by those rules," Foley said.

Mysterious Tower Of Missing Trump Votes Appears In Utah Desert
December 1st, 2020
UTAH DESERT—Scientists and conspiracy theorists are baffled after a strange monolith-shaped stack of missing Trump votes was discovered without explanation in the middle of the Utah desert.
"RIGGED ELECTION!" tweeted Donald Trump after seeing the news on his Twitter feed. "They found my missing votes! There must be 10 million in that stack alone!"
Scientists insist Trump's allegations are "baseless" and that the strange stack of mail-in votes for Trump is more likely the result of an artist's work or perhaps an alien visitor.
Rudy Giuliani was last seen rappelling down the side of a nearby cliff face to examine the stack of ballots with a flashlight and a magnifying glass. He has announced to the press that by the time he's done examining all the ballots by himself, Trump will be revealed to be the clear winner in all 50 states.

Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton volunteered to take the coronavirus vaccine, once it's available, on camera to assuage concerns about the shot.
Who better to promote a product than a former president? How about three?
Former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton are willing to lend their star power for a good cause, saying this week that they would publicly take a coronavirus vaccine, once it's available in the U.S., to encourage skeptical Americans to do the same.

addicted to that result.

Ha! Thank goodness one can have conservative judicial views and still want to uphold the Constitution of the United States which, as a judge, you have sworn to defend from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

One great comment I read about today’s Supreme Court decision “No surprise. As John Adams had once said is true today: we are still a nation of laws, not men.”

Thinking of those thousands of folks who've perished or are ill and alone in the hospital I came across this....
Susanna
by Anne Porter
Nobody in the hospital
Could tell the age
Of the old woman who
Was called Susanna
I knew she spoke some English
And that she was an immigrant
Out of a little country
Trampled by armies
Because she had no visitors
I would stop by to see her
But she was always sleeping
All I could do
Was to get out her comb
And carefully untangle
The tangles in her hair
One day I was beside her
When she woke up
Opening small dark eyes
Of a surprising clearness
She looked at me and said
You want to know the truth?
I answered Yes
She said it's something that
My mother told me
There's not a single inch
Of our whole body
That the Lord does not love
She then went back to sleep.
