    A Semantic Proposal:

Instead of chanting, "Defund the police!"; let's say, "Let cops be cops!" "Defund" is too easy to take out of context and warp into an ab absurdo argument. "Let cops be cops" recognizes that a functional and fair police force is necessary, but they've been burdened with a million other duties that they neither signed up for nor have the specialized training for.

    So let cops be cops.
Let mental health specialists be mental health specialists.
Let drug and alcohol counselors be drug and alcohol counselors.
Let domestic support agents be domestic support agents.
Let child welfare officers be child welfare officers.
Let homeless aid advocates be homeless aid advocates.

It's not a matter of, "I'm not paid enough to deal with this problem;" it's a matter of, "I'm not trained enough to deal with this problem." But rather than throwing more money into police departments to try to train police in yet another skill set that they may not (and very likely don't) care about, it's more effective to bring in people who are already trained and who have a passion for their specific field. That's what "defund the police" really means, so let's phrase it that way.

    Let cops be cops.

I hate that Harris is supporting this asinine thing.....I've always disliked Harris (well--he's a GOP'er in a very Democratic state!) but can't believe he's going along with this....I mean, what is WITH these people??? And how many times in the past 4+ years have I--we--been asking this?

I still am savoring the fact that Trump lost to Biden (whom we know he sees as far beneath him) by over 7,000,000 votes--and turned those states blue......what an achievement! I still can't believe the Dems--we--did it......

I’d say Melania’s heart was never in to being First Lady, except she has no heart. She had to do so much work she didn’t give a **** about in her 1st Lady role, and she was always surprised when her efforts were criticized. Name one first lady who hasn’t been criticized. Mel didn’t seem to comprehend that there would be enormous scrutiny in being a president’s wife. Her smoke and mirrors routine was seen for what it is—a big fake.. She does not appear to have much presence or strong personality of her own, the way others like Jackie Kennedy and Barbara Bush had, or Nancy Reagan and Hillary.

So this case or whatever its called that Texas and other states are suing the swing states that won the election for Biden...how long before a ruling? How long before we can know this Hail Mary attempt has failed?

I can't even think of one actual thing that Melania has done that will make any sort of lasting impact on the world. Sad (but not surprising) that when you have that big of a platform to do good in the world and you do nothing.

I am so completely appalled by how many people who should know better are throwing all integrity aside to back someone who is the opposite of what supposedly the United States stands for. Unbeliveable and very disheartening.

    From the Huffington Post:

Conservative attorney George Conway torched President Donald Trump's "last-ditch effort to steal the election" and those in the legal profession who are going along with it.

In a Washington Post op-ed published Thursday, Conway took particular aim at a legally dubious case brought to the Supreme Court this week by the state of Texas, which Trump is supporting. Conway noted that so far, the president and his allies have lost just about every lawsuit ― more than four dozen ― that they've brought to try to keep him in office.

"They've already lost a case in the U.S. Supreme Court — and are about to lose there again, very, very soon," wrote Conway, who is married to Trump's former White House counselor Kellyanne Conway.

"It's hard to imagine that any alliance of litigants and lawyers has ever lost more cases for more reasons — and in less time — than this sorry bunch has," he added. "Their problem is they have nothing to sue about, and never did."

On Monday, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a Republican, filed the long-shot lawsuit to the Supreme Court seeking to invalidate the 62 Electoral College votes from Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin ― all states that Trump lost. The case has already been dismissed by legal experts and criticized by officials in all four states.

In a tweet Wednesday, Trump declared "we will be INTERVENING" in the Texas case, calling it the "big one."

"It's the big one, all right, the biggest farce of all," Conway wrote. He deemed the case "legally preposterous."

"No constitutional provision, no statute and no principle of law gives one state the standing to challenge another state's handling of an election," he explained. "In our system, Texas isn't the boss of Pennsylvania."

Beyond that, Conway added, there is no reason to believe the Supreme Court would take this case, given its history of handling state-versus-state disputes.

He took aim at Paxton and other Republican officials for their efforts to disenfranchise voters, which he labeled an "affront to the rule of law, an insult to an independent judiciary and a contempt of democracy."

"That any member of any bar, let alone a member of the Supreme Court bar, could file such flimsy tripe in any court, let alone the Supreme Court, is an embarrassment to the legal profession," Conway wrote.

Melania will forever be remembered for this one sentence: "I really don't care, do you?" You know, the saying emblazoned on her jacket when she visited the poor kids her husband kidnapped from their parents. Devil

As anti-maskers disrupt a meeting looking at measures to curb the virus, probably were the ones who vandalized and stole items from a local small business requiring masks, protested several other small businesses I keep waiting for them to offer solutions. I went into one of these small local businesses and apologized for the hostile actions of those protesters. The workers were all women who looked under 25 years old, and probably did not earn much more than minimum wage. "Not liking to be told what to do" defies any rationality. They forget that we are a society and agree to many norms and rules. Hospitals are very near capacity here and seriously discussing which patients will be admitted, and which won't. Elective procedures are already cancelled. The Governor has taken very little action and backed off of actions he had taken, saying that it won't do any good. That we as individuals need to take action. He's probably right. The legislature is not in session until January and probably will not take up any action either. Last session all they "accomplished" was legislation on genitals.

You could be in Texas Blue Girl. Again today I'm bemoaning the fact that Govt Abbott has no balls. Again today I'm still wondering how Texas Atty General Paxton can continue making laws for our state when he's been under criminal indictment for more than five years. (he keeps suing for change of venue). And now he's leading the idiots to the supreme court - along with Cruz. OMG

Melania -- about the most I can say right now is that while I haven't heard all that much, the little I did seem to indicate that she is packing up to leave and designating where things are to go ( Mar-a-Lago or New York etc. ) come Jan. 20th. Then again -- the old man is the biggest grifter so she never really had to do anything much but be arm candy. She did that well enough I presume, but not much good for training to be FLOTUS.

I think the Trump's trouble ( Melania, the kids etc ) all along was they put themselves above others and thought they had a right to. Real society never accepted them and they are no better off for having lived in the WH for four yrs. In fact, they have DISGRACED the WH and themselves ROYALLY. They were bottom of the barrel before but are real dregs now. Their station in life has been and remains tawdry because you can't buy what other people possess for free. The Trump's have no conscience, no character, no prestige, no standing. They have gone far in life but received nothing because they gave nothing. They are genuine TAKERS. They don't appreciate so they are not humble. They are indeed ( for anything they may seem to have ) some of the biggest losers on the face of this Earth.

Nunes -- you asked for it -- you got it. I hope you keep it to yourself fool.

I do think the lawsuit and all others idiocies will come to a head on the 20th. if not before. I just wonder if some of these people will look back and miss having a viable Reps. party. Somehow ( though I said it long before ) I think this has rather ruined the party badly. WE will know more when the GA election is over. I just hope we can identify all the crazies and get them back into their dark pits for a really, really long time. Forever. That is not asking so much.

Who I wonder isw Trump going to blame that he didn't get the Time cover this year for his ahem' 'vaccine'. Must be hard for him to have to make way for Biden on that too. What a bummer -- first the '20 election and then the TIME cover. Some kind of fraud and weird voting going on, huh !!!
