I think my hope is an eternal thing even though I won't say anything about new yr. and better. I guess I'll just say I hope we don't have any appliances bite the dust. We are Samsung tv lovers here but like everything -- it seems manufacturers wax and wane so can't rely on consistency. I have felt ( not lately ) much disappointment that most appliances seem to be designed to only have a certain amt. of shelf life now which is far from generous.
I also hope that Pres. Biden will be able to get things in order as quick as possible even knowing that Trump will road-block as much as he can. While there isn't much of anything as an upside -- there is the fact that the Reps. are pretty much in disarray and shenanigans like Hawley is planning will not help at all. Short term is all that will be, and then in 2022 it will tend to haunt quite a lot. Just the reason even McConnell tried to interfere. Apparently, all thought there would be enough cheating and suppression not to have to consider long term mistakes. Sailing on seem to be the future. No contingency plans apparently so they can just wallow in their dis-array now.

And people who called Covid a hoax, mocked mask wearing, crammed together at rallies etc. but now have decided they want a vaccine, need to go to the very back of the line.

Wax strips, PingPong! (Nonetheless, I tweeze every time I see an unwanted hair).
This a.m., when the light was better, I found a tiny hidden "input" button on the side of the TV--so now we have a satellite picture (ugly but watchable), and a DTV remote for changing channels.
Amazingly, Pence just filed an amicus brief opposing Gohmert's lawsuit, asking it be dismissed. 140 GOP House members (still, thankfully, a minority) plan to object to counting each state; since each objection requires first a 2-hr recess and then a debate, it could take all week to count the votes--and meanwhile, the Trumpist goons will be gathering (likely armed) outside the Capitol. Sen. Sasse (R-NE) says that off-the-record, his GOP colleagues think that there was no election fraud and wish they could say so, but they're afraid of pissing off the Trump supporters who make up their own voter base and can "primary" them out of their jobs next year.

Trump's sycophants in congress need to find new jobs. I know they're supposed to represent their constituents, but there's also the rest of the country to think about. I don't know how they live with themselves. They're so afraid of being "primaried" that they'll roll over for Trump and his loyal followers and fall right in line. If they don't want to serve the country, then they should go back to private life and get a real job.

The Senate just overwhelmingly (by a 4/5, not just 2/3 vote) overrode Trump's veto of the defense-funding/military-base-renaming bill. First override of his entire term. Boo-yah.

With you Sandy. Something else for Trump to chew on now. I read a couple of pieces about the 'power' slipping away and this is a good indication of it. Trump already has a list going on those who are now not a**-kissing and kowtowing enough already -- so it just got way longer.
Ruth, you are so right about those who should go to the back of the line for the vaccines.

Sandy: I am so sorry to learn of your ocular melanoma diagnosis! Best wishes for smooth and successful treatment going forward!
PingPong: Not sure if I should be sorry or not to learn of this magical hair removal device! My eyelashes are still not fully grown back but it didn't take a minute for the chin hairs to come in strong on the AI! Not to mention the lip hair. Sigh. May have to try this device.

YeslamaDragon,
My sister bought the first one for me right after I started the AI's. I have really sensitive skin, and the "beard" is pretty thick, way too much to pluck! I don't know if my skin would hold up to very much depilatory or waxing, so this razor is a great solution. It shaves close enough that you can't see the hair, although if you run your fingers over your skin you'll feel a bit of stubble. Still, no one else will know it's there. I'm exactly like you, I've been off chemo for 3 years and I still don't have eyebrows (except for that one little hair that always sticks out.)

When Trump first signed onto the global initiave I didn't totally understand it . As it is explained here is it a lot clearer.
Opinion: Trump Reveals Strong Connection Between Authoritarianism and Anti-Abortion Politics
Over the past four years, Americans have gotten a potent dose of autocracy, witnessing Trump's repeated violations of basic democratic norms, climaxing in his still ongoing plot to overturn last November's presidential election. And we need to stress that the autocratic urge in U.S. society is not a solo endeavor on Trump's part. The assault …

I didn't truly understand the implications of this global declaration that Trump signed, but this has made it a lot clearer to me.

The roots of love sink down and deep and strike out far, and they are arteries that feed our lives, so we must see that they get the water and sun they need so they can nourish us. And when you put something good into the world, something good comes back to you.

At least it feels like we turned the corner now that it’s a new year and the count down to Biden’s inauguration is simplified. Two subtracted from 20 means 18 more days of Trump’s shit.
Tho some thought Trump would head to Maralago at Christmas and never return to the White House, it doesn’t surprised me in the least that he jetted back to DC, actually cutting his vacation short to return to ruining our country as much as he can before leaving office.
Most frustrating to me is all the friggin’ energy he puts into election fraud, and yet the covid vaccine roll-out languishes way behind what it was supposed to be. All this precious time wasted by the worst Potus in history. I want to believe that as soon as Biden is officially president, vaccine distribution kicks into high, warp speed gear.0 -
I did not fact check this, but it seems about right.

Anyone left in the Reps. party with some ethics and integrity. Not sure why but I was surprised to see that James Langsford ( sp ) had signed on to the states audit that Ted Cruz said he wanted before he would confirm the EC ( which everyone else has confirmed ) for Biden. Langsford is a Reps. and therefore suspicious right there, but he seemed to be a cut above a lot of his fellow Reps. I think I'm changing my mind about him.
He is getting in the same boat with Ted Cruz, Ron Johnson, John Kennedy and Marsha Blackburn -- the far-outers. Just amazing to me.
