Almost painfully true. Whether him or those he incites to do his dirty work -- he just will not back off much. Has to be someone mentally disturbed. Anyone else would have not even thought of continuing such a demeaning spectacle. But onward the orange one goes, trying to crash through every barrier. I forget though that he convinces himself of his rightness which makes anyone disagreeing automatically wrong and not only wrong but out to get him. Ick -- I cannot wait till he is gone and I so hope and pray that SDNY and or anyone who can bring the law GREATLY to bear on Trump as soon as they possibly can. He should get NO rest from his con-man and dirty deed activities. None at all.

My BIL in NoVA is a maskhole covidiot extraordinaire. His BFF out in the far western suburbs had what he believed was COVID a week ago--but being an obedient right-wing cult follower refused to get tested. He felt better today, so he & my BIL went to a gun shop in Springfield, VA with a sign on the door: "No mask, no service...just kidding." AFAIK, neither of them wear masks (except when my BIL is in his swim shop--turns out that in Arlington & Fairfax counties, competitive swim meets are still going strong). And VA doesn't have a mask mandate, even though its Dem. gov. did have COVID. My BIL thinks it's a "hoax," despite everyone who's died of it and CA being essentially a petri dish (with the new strain disproportionately affecting those 30 or younger). My sister keeps her sanity by watching network news. She asked him where he's getting his news from, and he replied "I don't read or watch news except when you have it on." So he's one of those morons who scour the internet till they find a platform that assures them it's okay for them to do whatever they want with whatever they have, regardless of the consequences to others. He quarantined in the basement after coming home from a FL fishing trip, and my sister says she'll make him do it again if he gets symptoms or even visits another hot-spot. (She & my niece could go to an extended-stay hotel, but only if they lie about whether they've had possible exposure). Bob says that by now, my BIL's friend is almost certainly no longer contagious but that if my BIL is around him he should still wear a mask and keep washing his hands--and immediately start mitigations regardless. Yeah, right.

Sandy, I believe Virginia’s governor issued a mask mandate per an Executive Order that went into effect in mid-December. Here in NOVA (isn’t your sister in Arlington?) it’s unusual to see anyone indoors without a mask (unless they are eating or drinking). Please keep me posted on your BIL’s whereabouts so I can avoid him! Maybe he’d be interested in a trip to Texas? My daughter’s Texas in-laws are all crazy (Rand Paul-level) Libertarians who think masks are a government plot to deprive us of our liberties.

So are the repubtards who are going to make a scene when pence counts the electorals just to create chaos or is there a tiny chance rump could actually win?

I don't think there is a chance that Trump could win. Most of those people are either afraid of being primaried or serious about running in 2024 and so need the Trump voters. Not sure what will happen there, but all of their antics will be on tape and I think the look will be bad from here on out. While not all will, I think a lot of the Trump voters will fade out just like Trump will -- so I don't know that worrying about their votes in the long haul is something I would count on. In the meantime Mitch McConnell does not want this happening either.

It is just my own opinion but I do think the four yrs. of chaos ( I will admit Trump did a dandy job of that ) has gone to some of the Reps. heads. They dislike Trump as much as we do most of the time, and I think they understand only a mad man could have been so brazen. I also think a lot of them have been able to let a whole lot more of their TRUE selves rise to the surface. That is the part that bothers me. They were never so great and haven't been for some time, but they did adhere to a slight amount of decorum for a long time that seems to have 'gone with the wind' and be no more. I'd like to think they might learn at some point in the near future that decency and calm go much farther most of the time and cause less distress for them too. May be too late for them though.

    Good one, Jackie!

My sis lives in Rock Spring, on the Arlington side of the Fairfax (McLean) county line. She'd have had vaccine priority (she's 67), except when the pandemic hit she decided to retire from her early-childhood substitute-teaching job to concentrate on being her semi-pro choir's soloist & social director (online).

Executive-order mask mandates are never enforced (though indoor dining/gathering-size limits occasionally are). It would take an act of a state's legislature to make it a law--and I know of no state, not even those with Dem. majorities, without an obstreporous GOP minority to procedurally block it. Remember, even the "blue" states are bright-to-deep-"red" outside the cities and college towns.

The idiocy continues. I will be so glad ( and I'm sure it is why the orange idiot fights on ) when we are through this period and the last few days of Trump because we are all so tired of his daily reality show from long ago. Still hoping bigly that the press will let it go as well and help ALL of us focus a lot more on Biden and getting real democracy back into our government and back into our daily lives. The orange thing will have trouble going back to some anonymity and will try to come up with all sorts of things to stay front and center. That is sad, and have to hope lawsuits and other things will cause him enough grief that he won't have time to continue interference.

This is just breaking. I do not know if the tape has been verified (I’m sure some will shout fake) but if true, it is another example of the loathsome creature trump is.

Looks like the Senate will be successfully blackmailed into setting up an "election fraud commission" with a 10-day investigation period. That gives exactly 4 days for Biden to get transition information before noon on Jan. 20. (Assuming the commission doesn't make up evidence of fraud, or if it finds no evidence, the GOP doesn't further try to block inauguration...or Trump doesn't deliberately incite violence to give him an excuse to declare martial law.

Saw something chilling in the news this morning: 39% of voters polled believe that there is a Deep State dedicated to undermining Trump; 17% believe and 37% "don't know whether" there is a leftist pedophile ring controlling government and American society in general. (In other words, the QAnon platform). That 17% of the delusional plus 37% of the under-and-ill-informed make up a majority of those polled. Trumpism will remain after Trump is gone. I wish Canada would let us in.

Just released: audio of a 1+-hr phone call Trump made to GA Sec'y of State Raffensperger (R) demanding the latter find 11,780 votes ("one more than" Biden's margin) in his favor. He was begging "we won, I won, don't let it be taken away." Mark Meadows & other unnamed WH officials were listening in. This is definitely a Federal offense, because it is illegal for a Federal official to interfere in a state's election process. Probably sedition as well, since it's an attempt to overturn gov't. Too late to reinitiate impeachment proceedings but it could criminally bar him from running for office in 2024.

Exbrnxgrl, I'm so glad you put in that link. I had my tv news off wanting to enjoy a program that had nothing to do with news. I'm so ready for not hearing Trump, Trump, Trump 24 hrs. a day. Just when I think nothing is going on -- something seems to break. These Reps. on Wednesday are pulling a stunt. I'm not sure if this 'phone call' may change things a bit. Just wondering out loud if they will want to continue their stunt when there seems to be clear evidence of Trump once again committing a very impeachable offense. It is too late to impeach him -- but at the same time do these Senators who wanted to sign up for this 'delay' and audit feel comfortable with such in your face transparent actions from Trump. Is Trump picking on GA because he sees it as the easiest state because it was the one with the closest vote --as in finding 11, 780 votes.

I'm beyond disgusted with Trump and very much with those Reps. ( many on this phone call ) who just seemed so casual about laws and norms being trampled to the nth. degree. We cannot be rid of Trump soon enough and I do hope someone takes it in hand to do whatever they can to jail, fine or otherwise heavily censure as many people as can be that have been heavy-handed this past our yrs. While no one can do as much as ought to be done I would like the worst to be dealt with as an example while hopefully some laws can be strengthened.

I just emailed and thanked my Representative who, along with some other Republican House members, have put out a statement pledging to count the electoral votes as submitted by the states. I will quote just a small portion of the statement, "Though doing so may frustrate our immediate political objectives, we have sworn an oath to promote the Constitution above our policy goals." I'm glad there are still a few Repubs who still have some integrity.

A Facebook post of a friend:

From the time I understood the significance of Constitution of the United States I believed it's people would always want to honor and protect it. It appears I was wrong.Quoting former Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan: "Efforts to reject the votes of the Electoral College and sow doubt about Joe Biden's victory strike at the foundation of our republic," Ryan said in a statement. "It is difficult to conceive of a more anti-democratic and anti-conservative act than a federal intervention to overturn the results of state-certified elections and disenfranchise millions of Americans. The fact that this effort will fail does not mean it will not do significant damage to American democracy."
