Oh, your memes are hitting it out of the ballpark this morning, Jackie. The married white guy in the tricked-out truck using a paid day off to incite insurrection. Puts me in the mind of some of the guys dh use to work with who are still complaining about gasoline price increases since the election, blaming Biden. One of men makes close to a six figure salary and his wife is a pharmacist. They can't pay for gas? Another one has a nice house, big truck, motorcycle...and a small plane! But I've seen the entitlement of these men for years as they held down some of the best paying jobs in the county yet always found the teeniest, tiniest infractions to raise hell about. They were sittin' so pretty and still could not be content; always wanted more.

Supreme Courtyard Marriott, haha! I always love a play on words. Last night I saw a commercial with two guys dramatically fighting along a darkened street, punching and kicking each other; the tagline at the end said "Kick pain in the Aspercreme". For some reason, the whole thing struck me as so funny I could not stop laughing.

Let us learn to accept ourselves--accept the truth that we are capable in some directions and limited in others, that genius is rare, that mediocrity is a portion of almost all of us, but that we can contribute from the storehouse of our skills to the enrichment of our common life. -Joshua Liebman

I put this here ( a lot of people are not thrilled at all with this site ) because I always agonize a bit over just these things. It takes some time for me to sort them out and figure out why they show up and who is supposed to be full of total fear over them. While I do reach the point of feeling they WON'T happen, a little bit ( sort of like erased internet entries ) sometimes stays imbedded and when the next one shows up I start all over again having to look all over to assure myself as much as possible that we are all-right.
I think this best describes how hard the waiting for the RESULTS most Democrats want and how we get there is defined.

I like bill Palmer think he is usually right with what he posts. He calls it like he sees it

If you would like some insight into the insanity within the Trump White House read "Fear" by Bob Woodard. As much as I dislike Trump, I felt the need to learn more about how dysfunctional he and his minions really were. It reads like the lunatics were running the asylum and I am not disparaging those with mental health issues, but this mix was and is frightening. The Democrats need to focus on 2022 and 2024 to prevent his return.

I did read that book Betrayal and it is and was as you say. In fact, it was hard to read because every page seemed to portray things totally out of control as I recall. There is still way too much that is totally out of control. I have felt that Trump stated out with the idea ( who on his inside then was pumping that idea up ) of running for the magnificent amt. of brand exposure. He was slipping too far out of the public eye. Worked pretty good -- he got far more exposure than anyone ought too and we all know how that went.
Just to say I really don't think he or in fact a whole lot of people thought he had a chance of becoming president ( not that HE truly ever was ) and to this day I wonder who pumped him up to actually ACCEPT the office. JMO but I figured someone promised him the world -- knowing mainly how easy to use a mentally un-sound somewhat deranged narcissistic character as he to get THEIR ends met better. Had that gone well we Democrats wouldn't be where we are today, but too much is happening anyhow. The greedy power hungry Reps and white supremacists as well as God fearing evangelicals had something in their grasp as long as usable Trump was at the helm and now that he isn't they are going to do everything in their power to get themselves back in charge.
Worry sits inside of me and as mentioned before I truly hope there is a lot more going on than I can see right now because while I think for the most part there are more of us than them, nothing is certain and it is going to take a whole lot of hard work and a lot of smart people to keep ourselves in the democracy we have fought and died for.
ETA: Spookiesmom -- I keep up with the site daily and find Palmer pretty spot on. I do think some people don't like the snarkiness of how things are written up and even I sometimes think some of it not necessary, but if in the end you are getting the low-down it is fine with me. Others likely don't like Politicus USA for some of the same reasons although they aren't as snarky -- but I wouldn't miss them either.

Happen to think this is so true, but the Reps. are so overboard with what they are doing that they are oblivious to the optics they are presenting to most of the world.

Jack looks so young in that post. Unfortunately, Trump isn't the only person who thinks he is or should be president. Hopefully we can turn the tide on the dilusion. Will probably vote republican in the next primary for State/local. The seats will be filled by a republican, and some of the candidates are extreme. So may as vote for someone conservative, but not extreme. At one point the legislature tried to make non-partisan positions (like city council) , partisan, fortunately that failed.

Republicans are aiding Trump in inciting the MAGA cult to further violence according to Justice Department officials and no small number of Federal Judges.

How do you "dismantle" an entity that is basically an arbitrary construct with no defined membership, leadership nor hierarchy? It has no structure nor assets, just thousands (maybe millions) of resentful & gullible followers who believe that being a rugged individualist and "thinking for themselves" means they are entitled to their own alternate reality and so-called "facts." Yes, per the HBO documentary "Into the Storm" it was started online by a perverted malcontent polymath (or so he claims to be a polymath) out of boredom and delusions of grandeur, and it appealed to those soiling themselves over the prospect of no longer being at the top of the socio-ethno-cultural heap. But the evil genie (or its avatar) is out of the bottle: it can't be "dismantled," not even if you take everyone in gov't & the media who supports it, lock them up and throw away the key (good luck finding legal grounds for being able to fulfill our pipe dream). We really are screwed.

So true, Ruth. I just got a new hair dryer, and read its slim little "owners' manual." 3/4 of it consists of safety warnings, mostly about GFCIs, using it only in North America, not using it around water and admonishing users to unplug it first--rather than reach into the water to fetch it--if it falls into the toilet. The rest was a diagram of it and its attachments, For advice how to actually use it, I had to go to the mfr's (Dyson) site and watch videos.
On the bright side, most of today's younger generation probably can't find their car's battery, much less figure out how to access its contents to drink.

When indeed shall we learn that we are all related one to the other, that we are all members of one body? Until the spirit of love for our fellow people, regardless of race, color, or creed, shall fill the world, making real in our lives and our deeds the actuality of human brother- and sisterhood, until the great mass of the people shall be filled with the sense of responsibility for each other's welfare, social justice can never be attained. -Helen Keller

I think there are a lot more than these two -- as I watch DeJoy testifying.

I find this un-believable and I hope whichever judge is presiding will have a long verbal no chance in hell reply.

Steve Jobs' Three Rules of Life ...
1. Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life.
2. Don't be trapped by dogma -
which is living with the results of other people's thinking.
Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice.
3. Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition -
they somehow already know what you truly want to become.

The Reps. asylum is still having its field day. Even Pence who finally at long last acknowledged 1/6 saying that he and the orange one will never agree on that day but then immediately switched into shame and blame of Democrats so he could keep the orange one and his voters from blowing. I have to say so many of these people are just amazing. Many seem to be as deluded at the Orange thing.
I also read where the Orange thing is very convinced of re-instatement. Well, many of his go-to friends and hangars-on are only to happy to soothe him by feeding and nurturing this major delusion. The Orange thing himself would rather think anything else then allow himself to actually face REALITY. Painful to contemplate that you have no way now to thwart the evilness of your ways and you are open to ALL sorts of prosecutions. Most if not all of this would not have happened but the orange one cannot be obscure. That in-ability which caused him to garner a run for president for the news exposures sure has him by the short hairs now. Much pleasanter to believe the idiots that tell you come August and poof you'll be back in the WH. Of all the pain a person could go through I'd so much rather face it all head-on then live in the delusion land that has always been the orange things due.

Do you think anything will come of the FBI investigation of postmaster DeJoy? I wonder how it was that he ended up being investigated by them.
And what’s taking so long on the Matt Gaetz case? For awhile there he was all in the news and now nothing.

I think it may be possible for DeJoy to get caught up in something. He had/has a lot of love for the orange thing and frankly, I think the whole bunch from run up to the 2016 election were pretty much nothing but a den of con man thieves. I don't think DeJoy is much different. After all his biggest claim to fame is having BOUGHT his Postmaster position from Trump. I guess a lot is dependent on what he may have been doing ( having his employees dole out campaign funds to Trump and then him paying them, -- the employees, back )
At the same time -- while sometimes it helps, I do think there are so many leaks going on and can it actually happen or are we being strung along. I'm never quite sure of some of the end games, but frankly -- they can't all be a sure thing.

I'm presuming the orange thing is partly happy. He is getting inserted a bit more into the news cycle lately. Partly due to his possible indictment and other legal troubles and partly because he is indeed suffering not being much at all in the lime-light where he feels he HAS always belonged no matter whether he is up to real estate, another marriage or getting rid of one, bankruptcy, and being the head honcho on Apprentice or horror of them all in the WH. It is all gone and he is nobody and without power and his only prestige seems to be holding court now and then for a wedding or what have you being held at his palatial gold and gaudy Mar-A-Lago home. No one even cares for his blog and the fact he couldn't brag of millions of followers to it helped him have enough of a petulant fit to give it the plated gold ax.
Also glad it is the week-end and a lot of the news will slow. In fact, I'm pretty tired ( one has to keep up though ) of the almost constant re-run of characters that I wouldn't give a second glace if they were on fire and screaming their lungs loose. Like Pence. What a complete jerk. I mean, I think of his family to an extent and he forces them ( no matter how they might actually feel ) to ride the same train he is willing to stay on. Then again, I have no lost love on any of those "butter wouldn't melt " as I pretend that I just cannot possibly comprehend the writing on the wall hypocrites. Miss Mother so prim and proper and so sure of her place. I would like to think she bites her nails over what the Good Lord may be feeling about her and if she doesn't she sure as hell should. She would like to be innocent as we all would but then their is that nasty default. Sometime you really do get what you pay for when you throw into things that sort of look like a sure thing. Well, Father, that guy your married to is quite the piece of work and all I can say is thank goodness the two of you are together. I'd hate to think two other human souls would be smeared by associating with you.
