Keeping in mind that some judges as of late are big problems.

Not so sure about CNN lately, and I don't like everything about Rep. Kinzinger, but I do think we still need voices from the other side to continue calling out what is wrong, in-decent and immoral about the right side.

Stopped in for my daily chuckles at all these great memes. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.-attributed to Einstein who McCarthy is not but he is exhibiting insane behaviors and wishful thinking. I do believe their are probably some mental health diagnoses associated with what he is exhibiting.

Biden to mark Jan. 6 anniversary with presidential medals for election officials and police

Among those set to be honored are former Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers, Georgia elections worker Ruby Freeman and former D.C. Metropolitan Police Officer Michael Fanone.

    Jan. 5, 2023

President Joe Biden on Friday will mark the second anniversary of the attack on the Capitol by awarding the Presidential Citizens Medal to a dozen election workers, officials and law-enforcement officers for "contributions to our democracy" before and during the riot, a White House official said.

"These 12 heroes demonstrated courage and selflessness during a moment of peril for our nation," the official said.

Among those set to receive the medal — the country's second highest civilian honor — are former Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers, a Republican who resisted pressure from then-President Donald Trump and his lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, to organize a legislative hearing on voter fraud allegations and have the state Legislature appoint an alternative slate of electors.

Other elected officials receiving the medal are Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and Al Schmidt, the former vice chair of Philadelphia's Board of Elections.

Biden is also awarding medals to Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, the mother and daughter Georgia election workers who were targeted with racist death threats after Giuliani and Trump amplified debunked conspiracy theories accusing them of manipulating votes in the weeks after the 2020 election.

Trump has continued pressing the false claims against the pair, including in posts on his social media site earlier this week.

Also receiving the award are several Capitol Police officers who defended the Capitol, including Eugene Goodman, the Capitol Police officer who drew rioters away from the floor of the Senate while members were still evacuating, Caroline Edwards, who is thought to be the first officer injured in the attack, Harry Dunn, who was slammed with racial slurs as he defended the building, and Aquilino Gonell, who resigned last month citing the trauma he suffered in the attack.

Former D.C. Metropolitan Police officer Michael Fanone, who suffered a heart attack and traumatic brain injury from the attack, is also set to receive the medal, which is awarded to individuals who have "performed exemplary deeds of service for their country or their fellow citizens."

Metropolitan Police officer Daniel Hodges, who was "crushed" by protestors in a tunnel leading to the Capitol, will be awarded the medal as well, the official said.

Biden is also posthumously awarding the medal to Brian Sicknick, the Capitol Police officer who died the day after the riot after suffering two strokes

Our problem is that we make the mistake of comparing ourselves with other people. You are not inferior or superior to any human being… You do not determine your success by comparing yourself to others, rather you determine your success by comparing your accomplishments to your capabilities. You are "number one" when you do the best you can with what you have, every day. -Zig Ziglar

I think he is trying since he moved his things into the Speaker's Office already. Confident stupidity.

Hmmm, the mess just seems to go on. Now we all have to wait till 10 p.m. tonight to get to vote #14. I'm beginning myself to wonder if McCarthy will yet find a way to pull it off. Either way the whole thing is a total disgrace. I can't see how this is really going to work other than making as much trouble as possible. Sounds to me like a continuation of what paraded the Loon right out of his job and what may parade a huge amt. of Reps. out of theirs as soon as feasible. I also think it will give the Democrats the surest route to re-taking the House in two years.

and then I went and found this meme.

which goes along with the above post.

So this was something I cp'ed from CADOF

    Robert Mozejewski

I believe at some point the vote for Speaker of the House was intended to stretch into today, January 6th, to take the news cycle away from discussion of the Insurrection two years ago. A violent insurrection in which handfuls of these very same Republicans participated. It would be a great day for the Department of Justice to announce indictments for those, from the top down, who planned and orchestrated the attempted coup.

I put it here because I found it interesting and because it did seem to have a strong merit. possibility to it. The bottom line is that a majority of those folks don't care - and even those who steadfastly voted for McCarthy each time don't care. If they did, while not easy, I think they would work harder to see that so many misfits didn't find their way into the Republican party. They all KNOW how and why 1/6 happened and they (those voting for McCarthy from the get-go) have just decided not to bother with the whole thing. I think they might work to tame the extremists in their ranks, but they just let them go their merry way.

May be an image of 1 person and text that says 'YS @ReallyActivist The Republicans finally found an election they can re-do over and over and yet they still can't win.'

But at some point, they will, and all those rule changes are for the most part going to be hard on democracy.
