I agree with you, divine. A dick wearing a dick, I believe that is called poetic justice? I am sure the shadow is more well-endowed though……………….

    FROM CALL TO ACTIVISM:

Hey Ted Cruz,You are an embarrassing hypocrite and a liar. And the best part? We have receipts:You were caught red handed trying to take credit for securing funding for the expansion of Interstate 27, even though you voted against the Infrastructure bill that provided its funding. In a speech at Texas Tech on September 1, you said, "This is a fight that I was proud to lead in the United States Senate, working closely with leaders here on the ground in the community all the way from Laredo, all the way up to North Dakota, and we were finally able to get it passed as part of an appropriation."But here’s the problem, Ted:The bill that provided the funding for the I-27 expansion was the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2022, which passed the Senate by a vote of 68-31.Turns out you were one of the 31 senators who voted against the bill. You didn’t “lead” anything and you never have. We’re sick of you taking credit for things you didn't do.That’s why while you’re busy pretending to be a tough guy on Twitter, we’ll be broadcasting your lies to Texas voters. You're a liar and a hypocrite, Ted Cruz. Texas deserves better. That’s why, you’re going to lose.

I’ll have to go back and look at the new posts here today, but I wanted to mention visiting my mother in law today. She turned 95 so with cake and presents in hand, dh and I went to see her. She lives with her daughter, dh’s nut case sister. We’ve always had to watch what we say around his sister because she goes off the deep end at the drop of a hat about absolutely anything. We were there several hours, had the nicest time and then somehow towards the end she had to mention Trump. When I made an eye roll, she leaned forward and vehemently said, “I love Donald Trump!” I’m well versed on dealing with her by now and simply smiled and shook my head. No further comment. Skillfully changed the topic and was not even going to permit her to ruin an entirely nice afternoon with her GARBAGE MOUTH COMMENT. What a total nut case she is.

I just learned that Jehovah Witnesses remain politically neutral which was a huge revelation for me because I was sure my DB would be a Trumper. Glad that whole group is not voting nor do they contribute to PAC's.

Divine, I admire you for both the eye roll and for not buying into your SIL's insanity. It is so much easier in instances like this if you remind yourself that the nut case is sitting across from you and is not you.

Add in my congrats to your success in not being baited into a free-for-all with your SIL. I am glad you did the eye roll too. It lets it be known that nothing fat orange loon has done has changed your mind one iota. I would fear though for anyone saying they loved DT that I might accidentally puke on their shoes.

So many of the LOVE DT type have not had the benefit of honest truthful news like we have. I fell in love at a young age with mainly local news (all we could get generally for many, many yrs.) and well as some of the older shows like Meet The Press, Face The Nation, etc. It was indeed programing that not only was honest but made you think and consider. Fox to me was always, a cheap way to get out of thinking.

Glad you came home still feeling the joy of the day un-sullied no matter how your SIL felt to mess it up.

Lol, Jackie! “granddaughter pulls plug”. Damn straight!

Thanks, Jackie and betrayal, for the comments about my SIL. I was grateful to have this thread where I could vent about her. She’s always tried to create any kind of controversy. Lives for it and is entertained by it. She was trying hard to get into a big row with me about him and I shut her down. I’m tired of her type. No time for them. She also wanted to get into it about how horrible Harry and Meghan are and I told her I really didn’t care what they did, that we have no idea how the rich and famous live. SIL seemed surprised by my comments, she really wanted to have a big discussion about it. Btw, I only go visit my MIL on her birthday and at Christmas.

I didn’t know Jehovah Witness was neutral about politics. They don’t even vote? I had no idea.

Divine, I have a sister like that. She lives on the other side of the country so we only see each other once or twice a year. She is another one who likes to stir the pot. I do NOT engage because I want to keep the family relationship alive AND no amount of facts will sway her from what she 'knows'. The 'highlight' of my recent visit was when she was talking about the 40 year old daughter of one of her friends who recently died. I asked what had happened & she replied, "I don't care what anyone says, she died from the Covid vaccination"……which means my sister knows more than the doctors at Mayo where the young woman was doctoring….I changed the topic, because what can one even say?!

Ruth, it’s amazing how people literally insist on believing their own made-up version of events, refusing to acknowledge any facts! You’re right, choosing not to engage is the road to travel with these kinds of relatives in order to preserve family relationships, but geeze, they have no idea how often we bite our tongues in order to do so!

Lest you think only my dh’s side of the family has the nutcases, dh took my brother out fishing last week for the first time since long before the pandemic. They were out for 10 hours and dh said all my brother talked about was how great Trump was. Practically talked of nothing else! Dh just fished and didn’t say much. But I don’t think he’ll be taking “dear brother” fishing again any time soon!

There is no fix for stupid so it is really a shame that we have family members like that.

I haven't seen my brother (a JW) since my mother died (2019) and that is fine with me because he proselytizes whenever he has an opportunity. So I do not need to listen to his BS anymore. The cult is patriarchal and recent news of their abusing children is just the tip of the iceberg. When my niece was beaten by her BF, my brother listened to the elders who told him this was acceptable. If she had been my daughter, I would have had him arrested, not turned to the elders and given that message I would have left the religion. Meanwhile none of his 8 children stayed with the religion he still professes.

Wow, betrayal, how difficult for your niece to go through all that. It makes me cringe to think a father could stand by and accept violence against his own flesh and blood. These is so much misogyny around us, and too many men use religion to justify treating females with disrespect and hatred.

I have avoided Jehovah Witness people religiously and studiously. I had no idea they didn't vote either. My sister was a JW but I never questioned her because they sort of freaked me out coming around like they did. The only thing I ever found out (since my Mom actually lived next door to my sister) was that they didn't believe in doing Xmas and if for some reason a 'gift' was given it was not referred to as a gift — it was a love offering.

You all know that my BIL's are all Trumpers. They, like most, refuse to listen to anyone save for others just like them who live and breathe Fox News. It just amazes me that these very intelligent people just tune the rest of the world out. It is not just for the Loon though — it has been the same for any of the Reps. presidents. Guess I thought the Loon would finally get them to evaluate their choice of parties but oh no. They just dug in harder and deeper. So — no discussions about politics are allowed.

I love having two parties, but the Reps. over time have lost their minds and now elect every misfit and criminal that comes along it seems. I really think the party may be actually over this time, but we have to wait a while yet.

My sister Gail and her SIL (my BIL's brother's wife) were very close for over 30 years, then SIL became a Trumpie. Thanks to Covid, there weren't many family get-togethers, so Gail was able to avoid her SIL. Last month, my BIL turned 85 and there was a small party with the local relatives. Gail took her SIL aside and said, "We have to talk." Gail wanted to salvage their relationship. SIL then shared that she hated Trump. I don't know what happened to change her mind, except that she fell for the propaganda. This is not a stupid woman, plus she has a seriously disabled son, so her being a Trump fangirl always made Gail wonder how she could support him. In any event, now that SIL has seen the light, Gail is so thankful that she "came back." I guess there is hope!

Nice story pingpong and so glad your sister was able to regain her friendship with her SIL. Glad the party was able to give them the opportunity to reunite. Hope springs eternal.

As far as the loon, he is the poster child for Maya Angelou's saying "When people show you who they are, believe them the first time". He continues to show how despicable he is and yet, people don't believe him or make excuses for his deplorable behavior.
