    And moving quite quickly:

Trump Wants to Try Election-Interference Case ‘In the Media,’ Not the Courtroom, Jack Smith Says

    Story by Adam Klasfeld •7m

The special counsel's response is the latest salvo in an increasingly tense legal war between the ex-president and prosecutors

Hours after Donald Trump's legal team sought to loosen a proposed protective order, Special Counsel Jack Smith told a federal judge that the former president wants to litigate his election-interference case in the media rather than the courtroom.

"The defendant's proposed order would lead to the public dissemination of discovery material," Smith's assistant Thomas Windom wrote in an eight-page legal brief. "Indeed, that is the defendant's stated goal; the defendant seeks to use the discovery material to litigate this case in the media."

Fully written and entered into the court's record some two and a half hours after Trump's defense filing, the prosecution prepared its rejoinder in breakneck speed. The special counsel's speed and scathing language emphasizes that they want to remove any perceived stumbling block for a speedy trial — and shows how closely they have been monitoring the public statements of Trump and his lawyers.

The special counsel's legal brief extensively recounts the media tour of Trump's attorney John Lauro, who did the rounds over the weekend on CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox.

Prosecutors extensively quote his remarks for roughly a page and a half.

In a footnote, the special counsel noted that Trump's been talkative too, on his website Truth Social.

“WOW, it’s finally happened! Liddle’ Mike Pence, a man who was about to be ousted as Governor Indiana until I came along and made him V.P., has gone to the Dark Side," Trump wrote, in a post flagged by prosecutors. "I never told a newly emboldened (not based on his 2% poll numbers!) Pence to put me above the Constitution, or that Mike was ‘too honest.’ He’s delusional, and now he wants to show he’s a tough guy. I once read a major magazine article on Mike. It said he was not a very good person. I was surprised, but the article was right. Sad!”

Over the weekend, prosecutors quoted another of Trump's social media posts to warn that he could attack witnesses if he had unfettered access to the government's evidence — without restrictions. The government proposed a protective order that they said would allow Trump to receive evidence, while also protecting witnesses.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

    I had no idea:

Then again, isn't almost anyone in better shape the te Loon — just like getting away with all his cons, he seems to as well get away with caring for himself in very poor fashion because like everything else — he does what he wants, when he wants and doesn't concern himself with the negative aspects of this care. They don't exist for him. That is a good way to get hit and hit hard all at once.

We can do anything for one day. So, just for today, let us be unafraid of life, unafraid of death which is the shadow of life; unafraid to be happy, to enjoy the beautiful, to believe the best. . . . Just for today, let us be agreeable, responsive, cheerful, charitable; be our best , dress our best, walk softly, praise people for what they do, not criticize them for what they cannot do. And if we find fault, let us forgive and forget it. -Joseph Fort Newton

It is a pleasure to know that at least 51 or 52% of Reps. would not vote for the Loon if convicted of something. Not sure the Loon has seen or digested that yet, but it is good news.

Loved the meme about an old hot dog skin. It made me laugh and so many of the others prove the deficiencies of the GOP and him. He is a putz and to even feel that his statement bears being aired showed what a narcissist he is. Not anything we have not heard or seen from him before. Hateful man.

Yes, so glad Ohio’s Issue 1 failed!

To explain: an August special election was held yesterday in Ohio on a Republican-led issue to make it harder to amend Ohio’s constitution. Instead of a simple majority, they wanted passage of amendments to require 60% of votes. Republicans wanted Issue 1 to pass because in November, Ohio voters will vote on whether to codify abortion rights. Yesterday’s Issue 1 would have made it increasingly difficult for the November issue to pass. Making it harder to amend Ohio’s Constitution is “100%” about blocking an abortion rights question on the November ballot, Secretary of State Frank LaRose said.

Republicans tried to change something that’s worked for 111 years.

Altho Ohio ruled last year not to hold August elections due to costs (millions of taxpayer dollars ) and increased workload, they then turned around and had one anyway! It was bankrolled by an Illinois billionaire. “Monied interests see Ohio as an easy mark.” said one Democrat politician.

It is appalling to say the least how intense an effort is made to control women.

Four former Ohio Senators from both parties spoke against Issue 1. Voter turnout was massive. The issue failed by a 57% to 43% vote. I was not sure how it would go, since Ohio has turned red the past several election cycles.

I wore navy blue shorts and a light blue and white top to the polls. Maybe some in line to vote in my Trump leaning community noticed my subtle nod to true democracy.

Can the BIG LIE ever totally die. Some of the Loon's looniest people are likely so far gone they can never get back, but yes —- lots of people DO know better and out of hope for their own desires keep looking the other way as long as they can pretend the Loon has any viability at all. I hope that is coming to an end soon, but it is still going to take a lot of time. There is a huge need to revise a lot of laws as well. Some way we have to make it so the total cons and misfits can no longer find their way to high government positions — from Pres. on down.
