I think we all want this horrid nightmare to be over. The other part of me though says that allowing one man to willfully take the life of what will be likely well over 200,000 people -- who knows because for one thing true counts have not been encouraged or allowed. Are we being SAVED from that as well so we don't panic ? I do know most of us here "panicked" long ago when Trump was elected ( however fake it was ) knowing we would have to sit still and take it no matter what nightmare showed up.

Nothing on this Earth can bring any of the people back who we have lost. The wounds and horror of not being able to hold your loved ones hands as they left this world for another can be assuaged. We can't give people jobs back as should happen -- we can't give back lost time. I do want the nightmare over and I do think retribution has many limits. It won't fix the damages that have been racked up here which are so pervasive.

I think more it will be a massive warning that democracy still can go on -- that people ( madmen ) cannot just come in and destroy us all. It will be a signpost for our beginning again that oaths mean something. We have to do better than this because we are better. We have to end this four yrs. in a way that leaves no doubt that we saw the harm, understood it, and will work as hard as possible not to let it happen again. We have to acknowledge ( going to take more than a slap on the wrist or going to Maralago and playing gold ) what happened and get tough about taking our country back - first from Trump and then from Russia. I don't know what will ultimately happen because my emotion as much as anything is speaking now -- but I just can't see us being complacent while Trump walks away. He is such a mental mess I'm not sure he will even get the whole picture, but it is something we need to do for ourselves. Making him pay won't heal us -- we have to do that ourselves, but it is a start which will allow ourselves and the world to know we mean business.

The problem is that this family has no shame, if not him, one of his kids will fill in the void for his disciples. They're not the type to just go away, they like money, fame and now power too much to want to give them all up. The whole family should be put in their place somewhere far from any influence, but until conservative media bosses see money-making potential in them, we're stuck with them even if he loses on Nov 3.

If we don't punish Trump and his Republican enablers, then it will happen again and again. Treason should never be allowed a pass because it's politically expedient.

What I've always hoped is that Trump has enough mentality left to feel the PAIN of negative events that could happen to him for the things he has done, the laws he has broken and obviously the number of deceased or suffering souls that have had to pay for his negligent handling of caring for the U.S. citizens. Such harm and all by one man and his ever ready enablers. May they all rot in hell -- and I say that knowing there is no real hell. It just feels good to say it. Maybe I should just say, may they rot from the inside and figure out they can't stop the bodily destruction.

Saw a good one-minute commercial for Biden today in which he makes really good points about Trump's divisive behavior. Biden tells how he'll run the country if elected making more good points. In closing, Biden says he’s guided by the words of Pope John Paul II taken from the Scriptures to “be not afraid."

I loved this because Biden can mention a pope and quote a Bible Scripture and it reflects on his authenticity as a practicing Catholic, a huge contrast to Trump's doing religion as. photo op.

Spot-on, whoever said that the "panic" Trump didn't want to "cause" was not among the people but among the investor class. By then, all he had left was "his" economy--and only the stock market at that.

Know what? Trump's base doesn't know any of Woodward's revelations because their bubble doesn't report them--or spins them so hard they're upside down like a basketball in a Harlem Globetrotter's hand. And if they do know? They don't care. Wanna know why?

Because, as the NYT's Tom Friedman nailed it, they don't so much support Trump as they detest those of us who hate him and therefore delight in sticking it to us--to them, turnabout is fair play. We are the "elites" and "libs" they are delighted to finally "own." We represent the teachers who warned them that "with those grades, you'll never get into college" (or worse, insulted them as "not college material"); the teachers' pets (and later, employers) who looked down on their lack of academic prowess & credentials; the environmentalists and government officials who told them they couldn't do whatever they damned please with their property (land & possessions) and to hell with any consequences; the doctors & scientists who first nagged them about their dietary habits and now say they have to wear masks and social distance instead of getting drunk in crowded bars & beaches; the bankers who denied their loan and re-fi applications. (Their preferred national anthem would be They Might Be Giants' "You're Not the Boss of Me, Now," the theme song from Malcolm in the Middle).

The only authorities they trust? Clergy (their own clergy). Because Jesus is always there for them--even if only as a distraction--when life sucks. So that's why they value unborn lives over those of the already-born--especially lives of those with darker skin than their own. Besides religion, the one thing nobody can take away from them is their white skin--and they are terrified that a suitably diverse society would rob them of the advantage that comes along with whiteness. The only model they know is that not only does majority rule, it has the right to oppress; and they fear that loss of "white privilege" should they become the minority would be loss of everything they have. They believe it's a zero-sum game: equality for all means they will have less than people unlike them.

Yes, they're "deplorable," but we need to suppress our understandable urge to express that. And we have to figure out how to relate to them without insulting them to their faces or--as Hillary found out in 2016--being so tone-deaf as to blithely tell them we're going to destroy their longtime traditional employment and replace it with jobs they don't understand (and therefore, don't yet want). Biden is treading far more carefully in that regard, and not taking any states for granted.

But the only way we can overcome them? OUTNUMBER them--at the ballot boxes (in-person, early, or mail-in). Turnout, turnout, turnout.

Rachel Maddow had a great show this evening. She interviewed Peter Strzok about his new book out today. " Compromised " Counterintelligence and the threat of Donald J. Trump. Rachel related the fact that she had ( usually doesn't do it all that much ) featured a lot of books lately and what they all had in common was the fact that in the main it was people who had been in some way terminated by Trump. It was really their side of the story.

All of them were fascinating and all had the same general theme -- that people could not or would not kowtow to Trump. They were all truth tellers so there is the clue. Anyway Rachel was the most interested in the Strzok book. I have to say it does sound very intriguing. He initiated the investigation into Trump and the Russian election interference. He feels Trump has been financially compromised all along. I've held off buying any of the recent books save for " Melania and Me " but the Strzok book could end up somewhere on a shelf here.

Forgot to mention I may go for Bob Woodward's book as well:

Image may contain: 2 people, text that says 'Rep. Jim Jordan @Jim_Jordan The President's right. They're coming after him because he's fighting for us. The Iron Snowflake Rep. Eric Swalwell @RepSwalwell It's so unfair that they keep coming after Trump, armed with *tape recorders* and then have the nerve to play back his own words for all of us to hear. That's messed up. Protect him, Jim!'

A surprising takeway from Strzok's book & interview? He also had his doubts about how Hillary would do as President. (Of course, Trump never published those texts).

    Yes, Sandy, outnumber them.

But I also agree that we must learn how to relate to Trump supporters without insulting them. That's one reason I have posted only a handful of political memes and stories on social media. Flooding FB last election with them didn't work. So I'm doing things differently this time.

A coal mine not far from here abruptly closed for good this week, 100 employees out of jobs. Trumpers on social media were saying Biden supporters were gleeful with the news since Trump had promised to take care of the coal miners. I wrote a reply saying tho I didn't and won't vote Trump, I take no joy from the closing. My family has experienced job loss from the demise of the steel mills, coal mines and coal fired power plants and I know how terrible it feels. I said, this is not about “ha ha my team won". I feel compassion for the lives and the communities affected by the closing. I closed by saying “don't bother to reply, I won't be coming back here to read them. Instead, why not step away from social media and go out into your own community and do acts of kindness for people you know rather than engage in yet another back and forth argument with someone you've never met.

I made the last comment because i believe in the power of giving people food for thought.

Trump said he didn't want to panic people.

He'd rather folks be dead than panicked.

    That's Trump in a nutshell......

Your so right Divine. Trump people are so mesmerized with Trump ( even though I've never seen him walk on water ) they just will not allow themselves to fact check anything fruitfully from anyone else and absolutely nothing from Trump at all. If he says it, it must be true. I still have some people ( not sure how much longer they will last ) who show up on my FB page. I did mention this afternoon ( not sure what the stupid meme was this time ) that I had no opinion until proof that the meme was factual. I said that many people end up getting hurt when false or conspiracy driven memes show up and I didn't wish to contribute to that possibility. I rather doubt I made a dent at all other than making the poster ( an otherwise reasonable and benevolent person ) incensed perhaps that she was challenged. Well, who knows. Maybe she will dump me.

I'm sorry the miners lost their jobs. There were a lot of people just past the mid-40's here who were killed in a big mine cave-in. Later my Uncle also died from a cave-in, in the mid-60's. I remember many of the miners coming home black all over from the cold dust, but for many people it was all they knew. Sadly Trump cares for no one and I'm sure a lot of those same miners have found that out.

Wonder how many of the dead (no disrespect intended) voted, who they voted for in 2016 and if the jerk realizes this may have cost him some important votes? Of the nearly 200,000 who have died, I am sure some of them voted for Trump. Yes, we do need to outnumber them, be a voice of reason for the trumpers by providing food for thought and encourage the Democrats, never trumpers and anyone who has decided that being a Repugnican at this point is not a good idea to turn out in droves on November 3rd to vote for Biden.

I do feel sorry for the miners especially since they believed that trump was going to save their industry. I hope that they have a viable pension plan. My Dad was a steel worker and lost his job when he was in his late-50's. Within one year of the steel mill closing he went to 30 funerals for former co-workers who had nary missed a day of work but died most likely because they were unemployable due to age and skill set. They were all depressed because the company declared bankruptcy and then told them their pension plans had been defunded (the company had raided the pension plan). So most of them were not yet eligible for SS, all had worked for decades to earn their pensions and were left with nothing. The final insult was their last paychecks bounced.

Lots of food for thought here so thank you for sharing your viewpoints.

As far as the blonde bimbo. How she can claim to be a Christian, falsely promise to never lie and wear that cross is an insult to its significance. She is so scripted but I really think she is vacuous and if she did not have her talking points book would ramble just like her lying boss.
