This one is from my favorites page although I don't know if I found Middle Age Riot in the Blue Book.

Have you seen videos by Republicans Voters Against Trump?

Well, hubby just became a statistic, despite wearing a mask. I just got swabbed this morning. We know masks aren't foolproof, but they certainly help improve your chances. And that statistical buffer zone is well worth it.

Serenity, that's a very powerful video, well spoken and thought through. The one thing I noticed, though, is the man speaking, Shawn Lamond, doesn't say he is "voting for Biden". He asks others to join him and other Republicans in "opposing Trump". It may be splitting hairs, but imo, it could be most effective is he mentioned his vote is going to Joe. Or maybe they've done research and found by not mentioning the Democratic nominee, more Republicans listen. Still, Lamond points out so many things that perhaps those on the fence and those not drinking the koolaid will listen.

Divine - It may take baby steps for some Republicans to even consider voting for a Democrat. They have other videos that clearly states the Republican is voting for Biden. I also like this one:

Miriandra - I hope your husband makes a full recovery and that you test negative. My daughter has a co-worker who tested positive last week. He and his wife have had symptoms. Yet he hasn't updated his FB post on being a lockdown skeptic.

From "skeptic" to "septic". xD
So far, it's like a bad cold for both of us. Nothing too awful, thankfully. If I test positive and recover ok, I might be able to donate convalescent plasma - our University hospital is doing a study, and they need donors. And since I'm AB+, that makes me a universal donor for plasma.

Yikes Miriandra, hope it stays as a mild case!!

"Septic" is right! He overly shared his symptoms.
I have read that a mask could reduce the severity of the disease if caught (by reducing the viral load). Hope you both recover quickly.

Miriandra, I hope your husband has one of the milder cases, and you, too, if you have it. Thinking of you.

Serenity, thanks for the 2nd video, I will watch it when I get a few minutes. You're right, there are many who take their politics extremely seriously, so baby steps may be what it takes to get some Republicans to come on over to the left, to the left.....

I'm so sorry Miranda! We always wear masks.... in every store. We shop early, and are really careful... We know that we could catch the virus any number of ways... and yes, I am always afraid! Makes staying home, fooling around in my gardens worth all the work and time I spend out there...
You guys take care... hopefully you and your husband will be having a mild case.... and not many symptoms.... Thinking of you! xoxo

Miriandra, I hope hubby recovers well. I just got this Medscape article in my email, so let me put it here. (Cetirizine = Zyrtec, famotidine = Pepcid)
Antihistamines May Help Calm COVID-19 Cytokine Storm
By David Douglas
September 11, 2020
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Dual histamine-receptor blockade with cetirizine and famotidine appears to reduce pulmonary symptoms and may have other benefits in patients with COVID-19, according to a new study.
"We are excited about the global potential application of this unique approach to the cytokine storm which drives morbidity and mortality in this pandemic," Dr. Reed B. Hogan II of GI Associates, in Flowood, Mississippi, told Reuters Health by email.
In a paper in Pulmonary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Dr. Hogan, and colleagues note that antihistamines are safe and effective treatments for reducing inflammation and cytokine release. They might thus be of help in reducing the respiratory distress associated with COVID-19.
Histamine-1 (H1)-receptor antagonists such as cetirizine are administered for allergies, and histamine-2 (H2)-receptor antagonists such as famotidine are used to control stomach acid and heartburn. Urticaria has been successfully treated with dual histamine-receptor blockade since the 1970s.
Both classes of agents are safe and available both by prescription and over the counter worldwide. To investigate the potential utility of this approach, the researchers studied 110 COVID-19-positive patients with severe and critical pulmonary symptoms. Eleven of the patients had "do not resuscitate" (DNR) directives.
Their median age was 63.7 years, and among the most common comorbidities were hypertension (78%), obesity and morbid obesity (58%) and diabetes (43%).
As well as standard-of-care treatment, they were also given cetirizine 10 mg and famotidine 20 mg twice daily for at least 48 hours. This resulted in the rate of intubation falling from an initial 16.4% to 7.3%.
The inpatient mortality rate was 15.5% overall and 8.2% after exclusion of the DNR patients. The average number of days to discharge was 11.0.
In another group of 12 patients at the same hospital who did not receive cetirizine and famotidine the intubation rate was 41.7%, there were five deaths (41.7%) and the average hospital stay was 19.0 days. The researchers observe that these and other numbers "were not deemed sufficient for comparative statistical analysis," but "are consistent with high symptom severity and high rate of inpatient fatality in the overall admitted patient population."
Studies in the U.S., the U.K. and China have shown inpatient fatality rates ranging from 21% to 28%. Thus, say the researchers, "In essence, we observed an approximately one third reduction in inpatient deaths in the cetirizine - famotidine cohort relative to well documented clinical studies."
They are now treating most of their COVID-19 patients with the cetirizine and famotidine combination.
"The science is solid," said Dr. Hogan, "and combined with these early results is suggestive of significant potential benefit in the early disease states to blunt the inflammatory cascade and avoid hospitalization and deterioration. We are seeing many using this approach prophylactically, especially among some healthcare providers."
Dr. Hogan has applied for a US patent on dual histamine-receptor blockade in the treatment of COVID-19. He has patents on dual histamine-receptor blockade in the treatment of diarrhea and owns a related biomedical business.

So true, so true. I like memes and I'm sure some of the ones I use got truly stretched, but there are a number of them I do pass up because I actually think they go too far --- just like the one you put in Ruth. Some are just not right period. I say this despite the fact that in my view the way the Reps. often act -- if anyone actually deserves the totally negative memes it is them. Still, I often will just pass them up -- too raunchy, way too off subject, or some other odd thing. I will continue to use them and I'm sure I'll continue to choose to leave some that are not fit for anyone much.

Glennie -- some hope and we could sure use some. Since it is going to be yet some time for a vaccine ( and the resultant issues depending on partisan side it will come from ) having something that may offer some relief as your body tries to fight thru the disease process is wonderful. I read something ( maybe it was here ) that wearing masks -- if someone around you is a carrier will keep some of the invading germs from attaining a full blown assault on you which is another darn good reason to wear a mask.
Still shaking my head at the people in Nevada. Do they have a death wish?? Do they play Russian Roulette ?? Some will be lucky this time and that is all the more likely to encourage a next time for these bravely stupid characters. I think we have all said at one time or other that they deserve what they get, but you can't help feeling for those who will unwittingly have it passed to them from these fools. Do what you like to yourself, but when you involve others who don't wish the same fate you are a truly bad being.
