Breast skin and scar after surgery and reconstruction

Hi I had double mastectomy and immediate reconstruction with implants two months ago. I had nipple removed so my scars are across my breast. It’s been two months but my skins over that area are still super red and stiff/hard in texture. I don’t feel anything since I had no sensation over time area. I’m wondering if that is normal if the skins are red and stiff. I have been wearing the hospital surgical bra almost 24/7 for first two months until recently changed to a regular bra. I’m wondering if it’s the bra being too tight or if I have never been moisturized or message the breast since my doctor told me I could do it but I almost never did. Is this normal for skin like that? Can anyone recommend a scar removal product?

  • As long as your incisions are healed, start using this two times a day. This worked great for me after my mastectomy.

  • Bio-Oil is great. There are also silicone strips to help minimize scarring. And the self-massage your PS mentioned also helps - try and do those.

They will get better with time, and you can have laser therapy down the road if they are still bothering you - mine was covered by insurance.

I used silicone tape on my surgical scars and it was helpful but unfortunately I had to discontinue due to developing sensitivity to the adhesive
