Liver Nodules

Hello :)

I was diagnosed on 4/10 and had a double mastectomy on 5/18. I have a DIEP reconstruction scheduled for 9/2. I had to have a CT Abdomen to map out my veins and make sure everything looked fine for surgical planning. They found a 4 mm liver nodule. I have been taking Tamoxifen and over the last 6 weeks have lost about 8 pounds and had appetite loss. They did bloodwork today and my WBC are low, outside of the normal range, but most of my numbers are trending down even if still within normal range. I am waiting for a CT on my abdomen with liver protocol at MD Anderson.

Has anyone had anything similar? I know that liver nodules can be benign but with the other things going on I have a feeling there is something happening. Tamoxifen usually causes weight gain from what I understand. I know doctors can minimize and want to hear from y'all if you had small nodules on your liver that ended up being cancer.

    Hi @heatherhogan13!

We’re sorry you’re dealing with this extra stress while preparing for your DIEP surgery, and we completely understand why the weight loss, appetite changes, and bloodwork are making you anxious, but it’s reassuring that your team has already arranged a liver protocol to get a much clearer look. Waiting for answers is often the hardest part.

Hopefully other members who’ve had similar incidental liver findings will chime in. Please keep us posted when you get your CT results. We’re thinking of you and crossing fingers for benign results.

Hi @heatherhogan13, we wanted to check back in and see how things are going. We know the waiting between scans and results can feel endless. Have you heard anything more from MD Anderson about the liver-protocol CT or the bloodwork? Hoping you’re getting some clearer answers and that things are feeling a little less overwhelming.

We’re thinking of you and sending lots of good wishes.
