how about drinking?

Beans......have a lolly pop with a bug in it if you would like to share a lick???? Present from AZ. Goldie could probably supply us with fresh ones.
0 -
Claire - that lolly pop sound yummmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! that reminds me of tequila with the worm in it...umeeee-yummmy! Bugs, worms, grubs, lotta protein there, and you can pick em up cheeep! August temps would be wunnerful as I'm really ready for some summer heat! Let's see, who do you think has the most edible bugs? Kymn in Canada? Wahine in AL, her parents in HI? Goldie in AZ, Stanzie? Dotty? Chrissy in OZ? or us in WesternWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!?!?
0 -
BTW - the bugs in N.C. WA right now are not too interesting, mostly ticks, not recommended.

huggsss, beanie! So sowwy youse doin' blues, too!! Plenty of dog beers to go around!!! We don't have the cicada infestation yet, but our local paper has warned that they are coming! During their last cycle, we lived in Kansas City, and I remember how LOUD they were; hurt your ears to be outside for very long! Never thought about cooking them--bet they'd taste good fried and dipped in chocolate!!!! (what wouldn't???) hmmmmmm, they might make some dang good horse de'ovaries!!!
Wahine--now that Tunica is under water, I have an unbearable itch to go!! Can't wait for them to reopen and I'm gonna bygod manage to make a trip there!!!! Think it's gonna be awhile, though.
Sounds like the HTL needs a chuckle, so am gonna tattle on my own self. It's been a long time since I've had my hair cut. And, I just really can't muster up the energy to visit DH's barber (he's cut my hair for last few years and does a better job than any salon I've been in) and can't figure out how to do it even with my portable oxygen.......so, the other night, after I'd been in the HTL a wee bit too long, I took care of my straggly hair. Hey, on TV, people cut their own hair all the time and they always look GREAT! Some lessons learned:
TV/Movies and real life really are NOT the same!
There was a good reason I didn't become a hair stylist!
I can be dangerous--I know not to run with scissors, but apparently, I can't use them sitting down!!!
I thought I did a rather decent job although somehow, I managed to cut quite an awful chunk from the middle of my bangs, which I've worn for years to hide the scars on my forehead from basel cell carcinoma surgery years ago. Oooopppppssssss! I waited two days for DH to comment and ask when and how did I get out to get my hair cut........what he did say to me when he finally commented was.........
"I'm locking up ALL the scissors in this house"! And then, we both laughed our butts off! SIGH--I may be close to shaving my head again and digging out my chemo wigs!!!
...back out to my hammock with more dog beers!!!!!

Oooops sorry again, it is not tequila that has a worm, but some meZcal...still yummy!

CHEERS!

JUNIE IS IN THE HOUSE!!! YAY!!!! (Sawwy I bumped into you, though)
And I love your hair story...believe me it sounds very nice...for years I've had my DH cut my hair - straight across the back and then I do the front. I bet yours looks way better than mine!!! I really botched it this last time, don't know what I was doing, anyway most of it still grows, so time will mend it! At least your DH noticed you did something differnt! Last time I had a paid haircut the gal was so rough with the hairbrush I thought I would have no scalp left at the end. Anyway, loved your story!!!

Claire...the learning program has no vested interest in housing...they offer the dorm as a favor...otherwise, you're on your own to find housing....the "Really" about the dorm was you can't be serious...I talked to a good friend of mine and she said that she didn't think I would like it....very small, and more roommates than just one other woman....critters too!!! and its not air conditioned.....It is just a small dorm room with shared bathroom....4 walls.....So I'm looking at vacation rentals....studio and one bedroom apt....I've found one for $900 for the 27 days....really a reasonable price.....I'll be gone all day, but need a decent place at night that is comfy to sleep and on Friday and Shabbat.....I've put some feelers out to people I know in Israel, but I'm not sure I want to stay with anyone for a month....But when I'm there a couple of my east coast friends will be in Israel...one if my "4th kid" so I'll get to see him and his wife as I'll miss them when they are in Denver.....I'm really excited.....Trying to book my flights, but no free miles on leg home...looking at extending the trip be a week or more...so thought is to use miles going and pay coming home, but only one airline has a decent one way fare...LOT (polish) airlines....all the others are almost as much as roundtrip...just don't know anyone who has flown LOT.
DD and SIL called today to say they are moving into a bigger apt.....I offered to come help them move and my dear SIL said, he was thinking that and glad I offered...so I am going to Toronto over Memorial Day week-end.....crazy travel schedule as flights are outrageous and to use miles...hubby is having a colonoscopy that thursday and he said to go and he would get DS to take him...and the only flight home on memorial day is like 7am...I need to ask my Tuesday principal what is happening day after memorial day as that is our last day (why did the school district do something so stupid as to make teachers have to come back one day after memorial day!!)....if I have to be back for it, I'll only be there Th, F, S and Sun leaving early Monday am.....we can do some moving on TH and F, then relax on Shabbat and they will have help to move furniture on sunday....they are staying in the same bldg....going from 1BR with 1 bath to 2BR with 2 bathrooms...they are really excited....housing is so expensive in Toronto, it will be some time before they can think of buying a house....
Did some retail therapy this afternoon.....at my favorite store...Goodwill.....for me, got 3 skirts and a cute sweater and DD got 4 tops and we got an Eddie Bauer carry on with room for computer all for $29....Monday is 25% off for seniors....and yup...now I officially get it....pretty funny though that when I say I get the discount, they don't ask to see my ID....When DD and I were looking at the piece of luggage, this older woman (at least 70's) was talking about it being discount day to me like isn't it great to be able to get it. i have way too much clothes....time to go through my closet and get rid of skirts I don't wear anymore..
Beans.....hope your feeling better....my anxiety tends to be at night.....and I hear you about being tired of doctors.....I have skipped last year and this year with BS, this year with PS and still haven't scheduled my gyn appt...the only doc I make my appt for is onc and just now moved on to 6 month visits....I figure it I ignore the docs, everything must be okay!!!!!
Kymn...my Dh was up in your neck of the woods last week...he said the weather was warmer by you than we had in Denver.
Beans...how are the new tires...I had to get new ones last year...and for SUV's they are pricey....
Goldie....love the hat in your avatar....
Gail.....is it your alarm that was going off....maybe its a good thing that the police checked with you about your ex....some people might not want an ex near them.....
Hi Dorothy....Wahine, Claire, Junie, Husker, Mrs. Nice...oh gosh, I know I am leaving some out, but too lazy to scroll back up for the nth time!!! Sweet dreams to all...Hugs, karen
0 -
LMAO Junie!!! Can just picture you with that pair of shears bigger than you are....and happily snipping away. Such a cute comment from DH! I always love your stories as you tell them so well, and to tell the truth.....you also get in some funny predicaments!!!
Beans,we are almost there...."The wheels on the bus go round and round, while we all drink the likker we found......"
Karen, Good thing you found out about the "dorm", so can look at other options! And so nice of you to fly over to help DD and SIL move. They would be flabbergasted at our low rents here, one thing I like about this area is the low cost of living, but with such a high-tech area, all the amenities I like. Sounds like you will be racking up a bunch of miles, girl. Never heard of LOT airlines. Maybe you could google reviews on it and see if they have a good track record.
Oh junie, I can feel your $$$ pain, having to replace the hot water heater! We had to replace two recently...the townhouse and the condo, and our plumber charges LOTS. But like Claire said, at least you replaced it BEFORE having damage!!! A handyman I met at our yardsale (of course he was cute!), told us we should drain our hot water heater at least 2x year. That prevents all that sediment and crap that makes it rust out sooner. We have never done that but may try. And junie, if you do try it, make sure to turn the breaker off on the heater and let it cool, so it won't burn your landscaping. On the other hand, I shouldn't even tell you that, cause I can envision another great junie story taking place! J/K. So nice to be dwinking with you again!!!
Beans, I just don't know if I will trust you bringing pupus anymore.....bugs, yucko!!! You might just sneak them in, like someone (NM? Junie?) said, anything is good covered in chocolate! Ok, we are really getting closer now....running out of all the beer songs we have been singing. I think we are up to 10,099 bottles of beer on the wall. And there goes junie trying to get that beer off the wall....sheesh!!!! Oops, Lori is right behind her getting the beer that junie has missed. LOL.
Nighty night girlz! Its morning already though, so time for melatonin, then dream land.....zzzzzzzz

Oh Junie - so sorry about the water heater but whew glad it didn't bust that would have really been dreadful!
Goldie - love the nanner nanner boo boo! Made me laugh out loud - hadn't heard that expression in years!
NM - Love the food retention as well! Great comic. Sorry for the tummy troubles that is one thing, knock on wood, I have never had. NM. I'd highly recommend the HD simulcast operas the Met is putting on. First they have subtitles so you actually know what is going on, second they film up close so you can see the expressions and the costumes and sets and everything - much more interesting and finally I'd recommed seeing a comedy first. They are doing Don Pasquale on June 22nd so if you are interested you can look up the Met Web site to see where they might have a theatre in your area. We went to one of those fork and spoon theatres so we could eat and drink during the show. Anyway, that one should be really fun and one my elderly music friends highly recommend.
I'm curious about the Anna Bolena they will do next year - always have loved that story.
Kathy- when is the cruise? You certainly need some relaxation time away from home stuff for a while. Where do you cruise this time?
Beanie - ((HUGS)) for you!!!! All Week Long!!! Sorry about the 3:00am - Can't imagine - can you even sleep the night before?
Kymn - whoops! and Oh that makes sense.... sign not the most sports orientated or can you tell?
0 -
Gosh, guess I had a few too many.....sorry for bumping into you NM and certainly did not mean to knock you into the pool.........tee hee hee ( I really did do it on purpose).
Hey Beans, we could try and guess the name of your car? And you can have my share of the cicadas. You, just like any one else here can rant as effin much and as effin often as you want. We are all hear for one another. Take care of yourself, we love you. Love your idea of going with Karen to Israel, we all get small to go to appointments and surgeries, why not vacations? Karen, you wouldn't mind would you?
Kathy, no we have not had a big hatch, not that I am aware of.......not yet anyways.
Junie, I think there is ALWAYS something going on at your house! Sure glad you got it fixed before the big explosion. Hey, did you see the bucket of Dog Beers in the Powder Room? LMAO at the horse de'ovaries! Oh Junie, you remind me of the story every mom has to tell when their little girl gets a hold of scissors to cut their hair! I thought you were going to say you got hurt some how, glad that wasn't the case. But I will be calling DH and tell him to hid the razors too!
We do have suckers with bugs in them. I think scorpions.
YEP, SCORPIONSKaren, you sure have a lot going on! I think I ignore doctors too....but do make sure I get to my onc. And thanks for the cookies!

Kathy, how funny of you to tell Junie to drain her hot water tank and the renigging! For us, being totally off the grid, we use one of those on demand hot water heaters. So no worries for us. After we are done being with Beans, I am going mini, and joining you on your cruise!
DILLIGAF.........Happy Tuesday!

EECCCCKKKKK.... Lori, not scorpions!!! Oh, those scare me lots....one time one of them came in my kitchen when we lived in the woods (in a house of course!).....and that really freaked me out. OF course DH was at work so I had to get it. Do they come in your house??? Hope you don't get the big infestation of cicadas...was so loud for a wk or two that it was hard to be outside. Really high pitched whirring type of sound, to me anyway. Yes, come and join us! The more the merrier!!!
Sidenote on ex-tenant....I had taken a pic of the mud covering the bamboo area rug in the screened in back room, and the box from her big tv was there. So finally looked...it was a 65" 3-D ready HDTV....now how could she buy that new thing when she owed us, and everyone else it seems????? Sorry...it still baffles me. Just think of how many parties we could have with that money!!!
Gawgeous day here, and cool, so I am in my element! Handyman meeting us at condo to look at inside work from roof leaks....at least that will be pd by assn, so not repairs I have to do! Back to the bondo, caulk, patching, painting, cleaning....maybe will ask Pants for a LONG private massage when I am done. So nice the TT's can do ANYTHING we ask!!! No DOTD yet, so will have to think of something to get meself moving into work mode. BEANS, hoping your tests are going well, and you got there safely!!!
Bugs, Slugs, and Chug-A-Lugs....

Good morning LadieZ.....
Just catching up now. Awoke to the most glorious sunny day, the kind that makes me want to be outside, even if really cool right now. So a bicycle ride as opposed to a walk later. Nothing like wanting to get out there. Learned that last weekend was record rainfall for May, so no wonder I was hesitant to get out there on Sunday.
Junie.....everyone is telling me how much younger I look with short, but the real answer is more likely that I now pay someone who knows what they are doing to do it. When I had uber long, I cut it myself. Those days are thankfully over.
Karen.....sounds like a great deal. I am not sure I would want a roommate either. I can't believe the school district would haul you back for one day either, but think the regulation is something like number of hours to meet state requirements.
My own opinion with water heaters is that they have a natural life span, and that draining them is likely to be more bother than it is worth. I think you will be repaid in reduced energy costs as new everything is more efficient.
Beans...............bet you feel tons better with the sunshine as opposed to being socked in with rain/fog. Get out there and enjoy it. And make sure you walk around Seattle to see the fun stuff and oddities this city has. Plus scenery and mountains. The "scenery" is particularly good at Utilikilt where the male staff do wear them. If you are overcome from the view, you can repair across the street for a pint of Kilt Lifter.
You might even talk your husband into "freedom".
I need to get Rexxie in for his oil change this morning. I will go to Second Ascent to look for cycling shoes as haven't found anything on eBay yet. I can try on different brands so broaden my search at the very least. Fresh oil and a spa visit w/i one week.....not sure he can stand all the love.
See all of you ladieZ, later. Anyone who has sunshine.....get out there and enjoy it!!! - Claire

Karen - I musta passed out before you got here last night. Very exciting about your upcoming trip, I think $900 for a month sounds pretty good and will give you a nice crash pad. Hope you DH does well thru the colonoscopy and that it's all clear. Also hope you have a good Memorial Day wkend with your DD & SIL in Toronto. Sounds like you have a lot going on. That is so neat if you have a good thrift shop in your area, glad you found some nice deals. BTW the new tires and brakes feel terrific, I had to shop around for the best price & quality, was still expensive but worth it, also the folks at the shop were super nice, I had to wait there for about 3 and a half hours. But it was a good time to read about what bugs to eat.
Wahine - LOL at your description of Junie's scissors being bigger than she is! So cute! Your offer to get that bus over here has been a life saver, I'm feeling so much better and with your help and all the likker on board I will get thru this - YAY!!! Good idea to keep up the 12,099 bottles of beer on the wall, singing helps so much too. Now I can see why you wouldn't trust my cooking, but you really need to watch out for Lori's - did you see those cookies this morning she's trying to make us eat? They are full of bugs! Looks like there are chocolate chips too, but no attempt to cover those bugs in chocolate, they are right out in the open! - ha ha ha ha...
Stanzie - I musta missed the nanner nanner boo boo, will have to find that again, so funny. Thanks for the hugs! BTW - did you figure out why the alarm went off?
Goldie - ROFLMAO at your hilarious post this am! As for guessing my car's name, do you want a vowel or a consonant? Okay, here's a vowel..."J" oh, no that's not a vowel...okay...here's one, "A" and a hint, those are the first and last letters. Now about those bugs...the scorpion suckers and buggy cookies really look delectable, yummie, can I order some for all the Loungettes to enjoy? So funny!!! When I lived in the mountains south of Yosemite we had tarantulas. I guess they are really huge in some parts of the world and are eaten much like crab...should I gather some of them up too to share at the lounge? I mean which would you rather have? Fresh crab at $9.00/lb or fresh tarantulas for free??? Thanks for letting me rant and whine so much, I really appreciate all the support and that you're all getting small and going with me on the bus! It's much more fun that way. Thanks for the love and the bugs!!
Claire - It is looking nice out today so I will def enjoy, I won't be in Seattle till about 6 am tomorrow. The Utilitkilt sounds like a cool place for sure! Hope Rexxie (that is a great name!) likes his oil change & spa, and that you find some good deals on cycling shoes!

Now here's a buggy drink, the TARANTULA COCKTAIL! (AKA The Arachnaphobe's Nightmare)
Ingredients:
1 Shot glass
1 Part Rice Wine
1 Part Jack Fruit
1 Tarantula
Directions: Mix rice wine, jack fruit and tarantula in shot glass. Sip and enjoy!

Okay, as an alternative here is another TARANTULA COCKTAIL for the real arachnophobes:
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 ounces Scotch
- 1/2 ounce sweet vermouth
- 1/2 ounce Bénédictine
- Twist of lemon peel
Directions:
Shake the Scotch, vermouth, and Bénédictine with ice; then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with lemon peel.

I'll take the second. Not just because of the spider but somehow the "mixers" sound tastier.
I stole Rexxie's name from the Aussies. Thought it fit. Really need to give him a bit of love sometimes. He keeps me warm in the winter and I don't have to join the poor suckers in the "chain up" lanes. That is worth a lot.
Plus, he will take me over the mountains on Friday. Being a stick shift, he is a blast to drive. - Claire

Oh Beanie, I did not make those cookies.....Karen is the baker, I was just thanking her for them! We have those taranchulas here too, I see about 1 or 2 a year (maybe) I used to kill them, now I just watch them. I also have a bullhead snake that has been coming into town (my yard) he is at least 6' long and DH hates snakes, so I am able to get him to just try and chase him away, instead of killing him. I told him he will eat the mice and rats that so love my garden, and his reply was "well he isn't doing a very good job"
Kathy, I think we have only ever seen 1 scorpion, and it was really really tiny. DH said those are the most poisonus! I think they are more down in Phx area as opposed to up here in the mountains.
Karen, I think it was you that recently commented on my hat, and I don't think I thanked you. How rude! My appologies..............THANK YOU! It really isn't mine, I just photo shopped it on of my old photos of me!
Ok, back to Beans and her car. First and last letter, J and A. Is J the first letter and A the last? (I think only one question should be allowed at a time)
Ima likin bugs, slugs and chug a lugs!

Hi girls, had blood test today, its getting harder to find a good vein. Get results tomorrow then in the chair on thursday. Lots of crap not related to BC happening in my life too gosh when does it end. anyhow looking forward to seeing you all on thursday, have a good trip up
0 -
Claire - I think I chased everyone away with the tarantula drink, don't think they realized there was a non-spider version. I do think that Rexxie is a great name for a car, I didn't know it was Aussie. I just love my 4 runner, she is going on 260K miles on the original engine. I have bragged about her before. Your car sounds very nice and fun!!
Goldbug - Oh, so I have Karen to thank for the lovely buggy cookies...I will do that, I really enjoyed them they had an unusual CRUNCH that was beyond wild! One day a tarantula was in our house, we figured he musta backpacked in on sumpthin, so we sent him back out. I guess they are big and scary looking but not too dangerous. Except I think that drink musta scared Wahine off, haven't seen her all day, or it's her hot room. Is that bullhead snake a rattler? If so please be careful cuz those guys can do some damage! We had a lot of rattlers were we lived too, but now mostly ticks in spring that are awful, but not too dangerous. Okay, the car starts with J and ends with A...it is a short version of her longer name that starts with a G and ends with an E...You only hafta guess her short name...wanna hint or did you guess already?
Kymn - I read your post that you got your blood test today, but won't have results till tomorrow, I know the waiting can be hard, so I hope you are doing okay. And the vein thing can be awful. I had 12 IV chemos and they could only use my non-dominant arm due to - you know - surgery, so it was a struggle to find veins every time. But eventually it all was over and you are sure on your way to being done. Hang in there, gorgeous and it will be in the past so soon you will be wondering how the time went so fast. I also hear you got other sh*t and cr*p going on so I'm sure hoping that is going to get better. That's why we're here to help each other get thru all this cr*p and sh*t to a more comfortable place. We are loading the bus up with so many bottles of rye and all kina likker to be with you Thursday. Take care and we will see you soon!!! Big hugs to you!!!
Wahine - happy Pau Hana and where's the pupus?
AStorm - hope you are studying hard, but having some fun too!
Kinda quiet here tonight...I will be turning in early but first hafta finish these 15,099 bottles of beer on the wall. Hope everyone is doing okay! Love & hugs, ~ BeanZ
0 -
Beans, sounds like you are feeling better, yay! Your post above cracked me up. If you don't finish those 15,099 bottles of beer on the wall, there is help, right Junie? Have yourself a good sleep and sweet dreams.
Oh Junie, what a story, your DH sounds so funny! I can picture this, I actually snipped my bangs a bit on Sunday night while under the influence. Hey, hair does grow back unlike my childhood barbie dolls which I gave hair makeovers. Gosh, I was always in trouble for scissors as a kid, I once cut up curtains and sheets for fun. I was in HUGE trouble for that. I carry scissors in my handbag, perhaps if you hide a pair there, DH will never know hehehe!! I love your stories. I hope you are feeling well and enjoying life.
Lori. what is this I am readying about letters? I have the answer, it is Jetta. Since I have not ready all the way back yet, I am not quite sure how this came about. I thought the name game is still going on with Stanzie's name. So I have googled Gone with the Wind characters am am still at a loss. I belive I have two e's and and I. Let me think....,may I spin for a letter Pat? All your talk about critters n things makes me itch and the only cure is alcohol. I will see you on the bus for Kymn.
Kymn, hang in there darling. I am sorry you are going through so much aside from the fn disease, I hope things get better for you. Feel free to vent, someone else said it too but know we are here for you. I try to skim through the posts but also get behind but know that you are having turmoil and I do feel for you. Try to take it one day at a time, drink lots of rye. I will see you on Thursday and hope to cheer you up some ♥
Stanzie, what's your name? I will give you my free spin if you tell me! I tried to bribe Vanna but she was tight lipped.
Kathy, I miss our happy hours, I have been stuck at work until near 7pm today and yesterday but think of you and picture you at the bar having your segrams. I am sorry, I do miss our sisterhood. I hope things are going well - know I always pray for you and all my girls here. I am sad that I can't get here like I used to. I am at the computer all day at work and just don't have it in me to spend as much time here. I told then tenders to send you a few for pau hana tonight, I hope they came through.
NM, did you say you had those cicada's there in Maine? I have not yet heard them but those things skeeve me out. What do you suppose is the purpose of leaving their shell's on my trees, that is so gross. I miss you and seeing your posts, I am going to have to catch up here and will probably try on the weekend, gosh is it here yet?? I hope you are feeling well.
Gals, I have got to go. My DD has arrived and I need to visit with her before bed. To anyone I did not get to, I hope all is well for each of you and if I need to be on a bus other than to Kymn, please state so in BOLD italic print and i i will look for that. Cheers my lovies!!!

Dorthy - YAYAYAYAYAY! Dorthy is here tonight to party with me! Just sluggin back a few more jugs and thot everyone went to bed already! So you have sweet dreams too and darn if you aren't so dang close on the letters...Jetta is verrrrry close, but not quite it, just don't tell Lori, okay??? You crack me up about Mitch too!!
Love you girlz and meZey too is off to beddy bye, cant quite finish this last jug, glug, glug, chug-a-bug...sweet dream all!

Ladies...Spiders and bugs and snakes, oh my!
Wahine, are cicadas the same as locusts? I grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska (capitol city) about 90 minutes from the very small town I live in now (2800 population!) We had locusts that made a buzzing sound in the summer and they shed their skin or exo-skeleton or whatever it was. We used to collect them and wear them on our clothes. But here in my little town I have seen very few locusts, although I hear them once in awhile. Brings back summer childhood memories!
Karen, when are you done with school? I am done with kids Tuesday. We have a music trip that I am chaperoning that leaves the next day for Seattle and Vancouver. We are taking a bus (omg) and will be driving all night and into the next day. I had signed up last fall (pre-BC) and was determined I was still going to go, although my son really doesn't care (I promised I wouldn't sit by him on the bus or talk to him much-we'll see how much he wants me along when he needs some money!). I finally got onc clearance last week as long as myh blood work stays good this week. I am delaying my last treatment (with med center permission) one week until I get back. So I told the music teacher that I would not be doing all the walking they will be doing, but I'll be on the bus, or wait in the lobby, or half-way wherever and hold the backpacks or whatever. but I'll be there! Now just figuring out how to go to the water park. Kids have only seen me in my wig, but I guess I will have to decide on a hat or scarf that matches my suit. Hmm...
Kymn, we are so close to done. We started the same day although mine has been every two weeks and yours every three. I know you feel crappy and there are other things conspiring to make you feel worse. But don't give up! I wish I could come see you when I am in Vancouver and we would go have a REAL drink and complain about everything and laugh too. I hate that the veins are a problem. I am so glad I got a port. I wish you could have had that too. I don't understand why any doctor wouldn't require that. But you will get through this. Wishing you good blood work. No point in delaying it; it just drags it out that much longer.
Hope you are all doing well. I'll hop on the bus early to go sit with Kymn and sing some songs along the way!

Husker...the kids are done the 27th....teachers have to go back after memorial day on the 31st. I only work 3 days/week, so I'm done the 25th and then have the 31st. I am taking an Autism class on the 2nd and 3rd through the school district and will get paid.
Drinking Merlot out of a teddy bear mug that my DH got me 26 or so years ago....boy will I ever cry if I should ever break it...no one is allowed to use it but me....its never had coffee in it!!! DH got if for me when we were first trying to have kids after a miscarriage (either my 1st or 2nd...dont' remember, so it was 1984... Also eating cripix mix that I tried to make in a skillet...not sure that this is the best way, but it was fast!!!
Been staying up too late the past couple nights....so going to try to get off the computer before midnight....makes it hard to fall asleep!! Sweet dreams and hugs to one and all.

Been staying up too late the past couple nights....so going to try to get off the computer before midnight....makes it hard to fall asleep!! Sweet dreams and hugs to one and all.

Kristy, I looked it up, and no, locusts and cicadas are not the same. This is what I found:
Cicada - large insect making shrill sound: a large winged insect that lives in trees and tall grass, the male of which makes a shrill sound.
Family: Cicadidae
Locust - swarming grasshopper: a migratory grasshopper that often swarms and devours crops and vegetation. Native to: southern Europe, Asia, Africa, North America.
Family: AcrididaeAlso found out there are 13 yr and 17 yr cicadas. This is interesting:
There are six species of periodical cicadas, three with a 17-year cycle and three with a 13-year cycle. The three species in each life-cycle group are distinctive in size, color, and song. The 17-year cicadas are generally northern, and the 13-year cicadas southern with considerable overlap in their distribution. In fact, both life-cycle types may occur in the same forest.
Sawwry gals, dont mean to bore anyone, but since we had been discussing cicadas, thought this was interesting. Learned a lot about them, which I never knew before. NOW< you can keep all the snakes, spiders, tarantulas anywhere but near me!!! Oh I think I would faint if I saw a tarantula. The first snake I saw, a copperhead (when I moved to the mainland), had crossed the path right in front of me...I was so shocked I just jumped up and down, in place. Luckily he had made his home in a pile of tomato stakes right there, so he just slithered under them. I couldn't even scream, I was so scared! This was on a little farm my former DH and I had. Also remember once many yrs ago, I walked into the den and saw a huge rat...I screamed so loud it scared him and he died...just keeled over! Hmmmmmm......think maybe a tarantula would die if I screamed loud enuf? No? I didn't think so, just wishful thinking! Arrgggghhhhhhhh.....I totally hate spiders and such, and that drink sorta freaked me out, Beans! Thanks for the 2nd drink, I needed it after seeing all of that. LOL.
So, arriving at Beanie Baby's place, so we can all support her for her tests, and also to ride along (very teeny) and make sure she gets there safely!!! Then on Thursday we head to Canada and stay with Kymn. And I hope your other crapola will go away, Kymn.....you don't need all that other $hit going on right now. Sorry about the vein prob...ouch!
Karen, was hoping you could get off the puter b4 midnight, then just realized it is after that time here already. I find it hard to get to bed b4 12, sometimes up till 2 am.
Time to take the doggies to the vet tomorrow....always soooo much, plus Maverick is having a prob with his hip again, and I know it is hurting him. Even just with annual shots, and heartworm pills, etc, it has been up to $400 for both...yikes! But they are worth that, and much, much more. Remember my DD's dog that crawled home all broken up? Pins should come out soon...she had to stay in the house for the past 3 months, but is healing very well, thanks to expert vet surgeon!
Anyone hanging around for a nightcap? I know DorK should be in bed already, with all those long work hours. Hoping you are making the big bucks though, to take the sting off having to work so much! OK...how bout a kahlua and baileys?
Hoping not to have nightmares of spiders, snakes, and tarantulas!! Sweet dreams girlz........

I am here. Need to share a pic from my ride. So glad I did it as was a bit unsteady on new cycling shoes exiting the building. Promise not too many of those "beers on the wall".
Shoes are fab BTW. Needed to test drive prior to 50 miles on Saturday! Good luck in the AM Beans. - Claire

Good morning loungettes! Hope today will be a good one for everyone, esp Beans with her appts today. And of course those feeling under the weather...sending wellness vibes out to you.
DorK, thank you so much for wishing my dogs well.....(and sending a kiss...so sweet!)...you reminded me I should put Maverick back on my avatar, so I did. Someday I will put Molly there too....they are siblings, and same coloration and long hair, but diff fathers so diff size, etc. They are both beautiful and we always get compliments on them when we walk them (which is not often enough). But they do have a large yard to run in! We rescued them at around 2 yrs, so should be around 9 now....which saddens me to think of losing them one day. Hope you have a GREAT day at work, and make lots of dough....and if you made extra dough you can pass it on to Karen for her cookies!
Happy Humpin Wunnerful Wednesday to all,
Kathy

Beans, the snake is not a rattler, although we have those too. I had one sitting in front of our RV, in my little flower bed, wasn't very big, and wouldn't let anyone bother it. Then someone said it sort of looked like a rattler, nudged it with a stick......and low and behold there was the rattle on his tail! Unfortunately he was killed. You seem to be driving ok, with Stanzie and I holding your hands!
Oh my dear dear DorKy, you have an E and 2 A's, no I.
Kristy, I hope you can have a wonderful time on your trip with the kids, please remind us again when you are leaving when the time rolls around. How awesome would that be if you could meet up with Kymn?
Karen, what a sweet story about your mug. Have one of the Tenders put it in a safe place for you, when you are done.
LOL Kathy at the rat keeling over from your scream! Dang, you stay up, you party animal you! Hope Mav will be ok and your DD's pooch. That was such a sad story with a heart warming end.
DorK, how is your fur baby doing? I think it is Mocha? Beans had mentioned something about having a name for her ride, and I said we should try and guess that, like you are trying to guess Stanzie's name.
Beans, you say "she", so it must be a female name? Perhaps change out the T's for N's?
Kymn, my heart just goes out to you, I know you are just dreading what is to come. Are you getting a new cocktail this week, or has the new started already. Hoping it woundn't be as rough on you. For me, my first 4 rounds were tougher than the last 4. Was so glad those last 4 were a bit easier. My last 4 was Taxol. And what a bummer to have other issues going on. You certainly don't need that at a time like this.
NM, you must just be sooooo busy. Do I understand it right.....right now you are in training, then when done with that, you will only be working a few days a week, or weekends only?
This drink is for you K!
Rattlesnake
Ingredients: ...1 1/2 oz Wisque ... 1 Egg White ... 1/2 tsp Anis ... 1/2 tsp Superfine Sugar
Shake ingredients with ice cubes and strain into a cocktail glass. Make sure the Egg White is blended well with the other ingredients

LOL at the dwinkie, Lori! But OMG, you were unwittingly protecting a rattler....yikes! Glad someone noticed what it was. I really can't tolerate snakes of any kind.....even the so-called "garden snakes", which are not supposed to harm you. Well, exception made for your "rattlesnake" dwink! That I can handle.

Oh Beanie! Hope all is going well right now!!! Big hugs and thoughts to you this morning!
My good friend, who I had a big fight with the last time she was here - side note catch up- hadn't seen her in two years and was telling her about my last year with cancer and Liesl and the flood and she basically couldn't be bothered told me I was too negative of a person to be around. So anyway, I had told her before her daughter could stay with us for the summer as she is doing an internship here. So she will come on June 2ne or 3rd thru mid August. Talked to her on the phone last night. I don't know her well, but she sounds really sweet just hope it all works out alright.
Dorothy - check out again what Goldie wrote and then think think think,,,,,, why would they have come up with the name Mitch?? ( I know a big hint!)
So Beanie is it your car we are trying to guess - my thought was also Jetta but then I don't know a lot of car types.... actually when I first read it I was thinking Juaguar but then spelling hasn't ever been one of my strong points!
Oh Kymn and Husker !!! Hope you are both finished soon and feeling better and ready to Party!
Yikes to the rattlesnakes and spiders! Spider bites are terribly painful and don't want to find out about snake bites!
Kathy - hope your Dog will be alright! That is sweet they are both related - very beautiful dogs! know you will have a blast on your trip!
My BIL is finished chemo - he apparently did very well through the chemo and radiation - wore some kind of pouch that gave him the chemo doses and didn't have any side effects at all till the week after he was tired. So weird to me that attacking cancer the drugs can be so different. They won't know anything till the 13th! That will be the big day on whether they can do surgery or it didn't work! They apparently are handling everything very well, at least on the outside, I'm sure they are both terrified. Hate this horrible disease!
Well, we have now concluded the cat took the bow tie I had for my son to wear in the play! It has just totally disappeared. hmmm so frustrating.
I'm having a hard time as my daughter and her friends did NOT eat all the oreo truffles and cupcakes! So I'm brining them to the HTL or I will eat them all and then pop the inflatable pew when I sit down and that is just too embarrassing so help me out - please and save me from myself!
Still cold here!!!!
OK, off to do whatever...... Happy Wednesday
