WHACK!!!!
Well, talked to MO's nurse and told her that my SEs were better for the most part, but far from gone. She said to stay off the T for another couple of weeks and come see her next month instead of waiting until August. Ummmm......
Of course, the night after I told her my leg and feet cramps had gone away, I wake up with a horrible cramp in my calf!
I wonder what I should do? I want to be able to say that I did everything I could to not have to deal with another cancer down the road, but, my QOL is very important as well. But, on the other hand, if I am going to have most of the same symptoms from just going through menopause, then maybe I should tough it out to get whatever benefit I can from the Tamox. BUT, BUT, BUT!!! Geez, my brain is fried trying to figure out what is best. Why can't it just be easy once in a while??? WHACK!!!

Openheart I feel like you and so tired of the but but but.....what to do, how to do it and should we do it? Don't we wish life could be easy and we don't have to think about what we should do and how it will affect us life long......I am with ya and hoe it gets easier for you.

June - Okay girlfriend!! I know I was out of the picture for a while when it came to whacking. I think I owe you one or two - LOL! WHACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!
Openheart - I am with you and June - tired of the but, but, but....... If it weren't for the T I wouldn't have to take about half the supplements I on now. Case in point, I am afraid to stop taking Biotin - if I do, is my hair going to start falling out and my nails get brittle again????? What is a girl to do? So many questions and no good answers.

Hi my Sista's! 1oh the very same things happen when I go to the MO. I say I'm getting better then wham something has to rear its ugly head. Why does that happen that way. I am at the point of wondering if this is really worth it. I mean I had a BMX and chemo. I just feel sometimes that am I really doing any good or not? I can talk a good game at times, but know I'm really starting to wonder. Is this really gonna make a huge difference in the grand picture. I then tell myself to stop whining and do the right thing.
For you gals that have had major issues with this I'm sure that your QOL means a whole different story. I hope that you all can find what you need to find out about this dang stuff so years from know when someone new comes to this thread and reads what is going on that it can help them.
My Onc told me a yearly eye exam is in order while on the Tammo. Same thing the eye doc told me last year during my exam. I used to go every 2 years, but not now. I'm glad that if I don't have a change that is one less expense that I have to have.
Well Jo I know that there is alot to catch up on so here goes, WWWWWWWWWWWWhack!!!!!

Oh Paula - You just had to do that didn't you. Don't look now - WHACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!! LOL!

Thanks, girls. It is nice to know that I am not alone in feeling so conflicted about this stuff!
Jo...the Biotin is working for my nails and my hair is growing like crazy! I have short hair and I am needing to get it cut nearly twice a month!!
My MO and my eye doc have not said anything about having my eyes checked more often. I already have cateracts from taking steroids for years to treat my asthma. In fact my eye doc said that tamoxefin does not increase the incidence of cateracts. That is not what I have read on the web. I think he was just referring to what he has seen in his own patients.
WHACK WHACK WHACK......

openheart.... i so get what your saying too. I actually didnt take that little white devil today. I know one days doesnt mean anything, I just think it is my own little way of feeling like I have some sort of control over what is happening, it all feels so out of control sometimes. I cant think, sleep, be truly happy, always teary, and i just am not ready to add another med to the mix to counteract this one, that scares me even more... so what to do what to do!!!! the millioon dolla questin for sure

So glad to see I came back from my long weekend in time..............
WHACK WHACK WHACK
Sympathize with everyone suffering from SE's... I initially had a bunch but they seem to have leveled off some. Now my worst is the hot flashes and minor joint aches. Oh and hair & nails.!!! I too take the Biotin and can't imagine stopping it since my nails are so weak. As a matter of fact, I was at a waterpark over the weekend with my sister and my niece when half my great toenail just flipped right over with the gentle movement of the pool water. Currently have it bandaged to try to keep the nail from completely coming off.. Question for you ladies, should I continue exercising/jogging like I normally do? Does tend to throb slightly after activity but settles down quick after. Really bummed as it brought better than halfway down so it will likely take most of the summer to grow out.

Thanks Tink...it does sometimes feel like we are spinning down some rabbit hole. How is your daughter doing?
Odie....ouch!!!! I'm not sure what to suggest you do about your toe. I bet that hurts like the devil. I hope you had a great time at the water park though. I love water parks!

That is the weird thing... It doesn't hurt much as long as it is wrapped. Even continued going down the water slides with my niece once I bandaged it up...
Wishing everyone sweet dreams and a happy Thursday!!!!

Well eye exam was ok no cataracts. Eye Dr recommends yearly exam while on Tamox but since MO says every 6 months he is going along with that. He said it is like having mammo's if we end up with cataracts because of tamox they can catch it early if we are being checked. The funny thing is the tech came in to do the first part of the exam and I told her I was doing fine, dry eyes are the same not worse and I had not noticed any change in my vision. I have my glasses on and she gives me this plastic thing to cover my right eye to see how my vision is with my glasses on and I can not read the letter's. She has to change them a couple of times before I could read. I said well I guess my eyes have changed and she just laughed at me. My right eye has not changed and is compensating for my left which is not a big change so Dr did not recommend me getting new glasses unless I wanted to. I told him I would keep what I have as they cost about $600. Then my girlfriend and I went shopping. She needed a bathing suit and I needed a bra since I now have boobs. I also found a really sexy black dress not too expensive so I bought it and my girlfriend and I decided our DH's are going to take us out to a nice restaurant when they get back from vacation.
odie--ouch on the nail, sounds painful. Don't runners tend to loose their nails. I have a good friend who is a runner and when she is training she looses them. She says they feel better when she goes to the doctor and has him remove them for her.
Going for a massage today. Since my BMX I started back at yoga about a month ago, taking it easy with my stretching but I noticed under my left breast along my ribs that it was very sore. Well day before last I was changing clothes and I noticed I have cording under my breast. So Dr Google here I come and I have what I think is Mondor Cording which on 1-2% of all breast surgerys get this. It is an inflamation of the blood vessels. Called the nurse and she said yes it could be that or it could be scar tissue. If is the cording it will eventually resolve itself and if is scar tissue the PS will fix it at exchange but she said either way massage would be good

Sherry...I had Mondor's cording as well. It did not happen after my UMX, but after the pocket revision on the UMX and the lift on the natural breast. Both breast had incisisions under the breast near the chest wall and that is where the cording started. Then it worked its way around my rib cage to the side body. For me, it took about 5 mos for it to resolve itself. It hurt like the devil too. My surgeon suggested that I take a baby aspirin daily to help with the clotting and that is when mine finally started to get better. I started noticing some rib tenderness again earlier this week and then I realized that I had not put the aspirin into my little weekly pill container so I had not been taking it. So, I started again a couple days ago and the discomfort is getting better. He also suggested hot compresses and light massage. I hope it gets better sooner for you than it did me.

openheart thanks for the info I already take a baby asprin. I am allergic to ibuprofen so I took some celebrex that I had and it seems to take care of the discomfort. I actually have three cords right together. I read it can take a 2wks to 2 months to resolve so I hope it resolves sooner than later.

Sherry, I think my Retnial Dr thinks that Tamox isn't that bad either, but every six months too. I will contribute my eye changes to hormones though, I can't see much right in front of w/o glasses and that happened rather quickly
As for cording......My underarms are a BUNCH of cords. If I touch some of my nerves, you can feel the shock to my fingers and the scar tissue, it's wierd how it can be in one place and pull from somewhere that I would think TOTALLY not associated. My PS did nothing too help it when I had my exchange even though I asked him to release some of it. I guess I will keep tugging & pulling until somethings goes POP!!!

momx3 if you have cording in your arm that is different and can be treated by a LE therapist that does massage. From what I hear that is the best way to deal with it. The cording in your arm has to do with the lymph nodes being removed.

What in Mondor cording???
0 -
I had cording in the arms and Sherry is right a LE specialists can help. One of the biggest things she had me do was stretching and massaging! good luck!

Oh don't worry!!! I've been doing PTO since Jan (Nov before my exchange), just a few weeks break because ins change. Back at it in the morning...JUNE 1st

Sherry I had cording after 1 year and I had no nodes removed but I did have 2 surgeries and they told me that is probably what did it for me. I saw lymph-edema specialist and stretching and massaging were key. It took a total of 5-6 weeks with seeing her 2x a week before I felt back to normal.

Mondor cording is under the breast and cords down towards the abdomen. It is an inflamation of the blood vessels. Any breast surgery can get it, MX, reconstruction, lumpectomy, breast augmentaion, breast lift, etc. You can google it. Nothing serious but just takes time to resolve, is very sore and looks freaky. I found some good pictures on Dr. Google. I really feel that mine is Mondor Cording and not scar tissue but hey any excuse for a massage.

TAMOX DOSE?
Hi all
What is the usual dosage ?
THX
0 -
purple 20 mg is the standard dosage. some take it all at once and some break it up 10mg in the am and 10mg in the pm
0 -
I take 20 mg. as well, but I don't split my dose. Maybe I should?
0 -
Hi purple. I take 20mg once daily as well. When I first started taking the Tammo I split it in half. After a few weeks that got to be a hassle so I started taking it as is.
Well I'm so happy and proud of myself. I am learning how to work in Excel. I have been learning it all on my own and it was a slow start, but once I dove into it I started to take off, go me. I have never had anything to do with it until I moved up in my career. I went from a welding gun to a mouse in a matter of 6 weeks. I was getting abit discourged at a few things because its getting harder to learn things. Plus that fact I'm hard headed and want to do things myself, that kinda doesn't help me either. But the program that I'm responsible for is starting to really take shape. Go me!!!!
Ok I have been having some strang stuff come about the last few days. Has anyone have this going on or heard someone else talk about it. I have the stragest felling on both sides of my neck. Its like someone has their hands around it. Its not causing any breathing issues. It starts on each side of my wind pipe and goes around to the back. Any insight would be helpful.
Well all, I have to go fix supper, (ugh) just eat chips I say. Check back later tater!

20 mg. Split at first to see if it would help nausea. But after first 2 months you reach a steady blood level so it doesn't really matter when you take it. Also why they say if you miss a day or something it isn't the end of the world.

OK, Many Thx for the replies.
Paula
Have you had your thyroid tested for a possible goiter ? Any trouble whatsoever swallowing?
0 -
Purple - I take 20 mg in the morning with breakfast. I had nausea issues in the beginning and figured out if I took it with a glass of milk I was okay, Now after 1 1/2 years, it doesn't matter when I take it or with food or not.
