    HI To everyone as well.

    I am also at 4 1/2 years now and just went through a recent scare but all turned out to be NORMAL once again. It sure is good to be amongst good company with all of these HER2 survivors.

    Count me in! 10 years this month.  I don't hang around the board often, but drop by once in a while to post.   A lot has happened in 10 years, aside from the life we all know.  My sister had babies (twins) born, a baby die, and then a fourth child (healthy), my Father was diagnosed with prostate cancer (now 4 years NED), lost my Mother, watched my children move from elementary school, to middle school, high school and now college.  My daughter was in kindergarten when I was diagnosed.  She's now in the 10th grade.  My son was a third grader and now is a freshman (Knob) at The Citadel. 

    Time marches on....I'm still marching to the beat.  Keep marching girls!!!!!

    Hi Ladies.. just finished chemo 6 x TCH, now onto continued Herceptin for 1 year in a few weeks.

    Were you able to work during HER2 infusions (every 3 weeks). Im hoping the side effects are not as severe as the TCH.

    Hi dventi. I have been on just herceptin for a couple months now. SE's are pretty minimal. I have been working fulltime through this so far.

    dventi 2 year survivor here. Finished Herceptin Sept 2011. Minor stiffness but that's it… some of that stiffness was from anastrozole because I still have it. You should have no problems getting back to your normal routine once your chemo SE fade away.

    I'm not finished the 3 weekly Herceptin until next March and have been working full-time. The infusion does seem to tire me so I always schedule it for after work on a Friday and I'm pretty much straight into bed when I get home. Then I'm fine the next day.



    The noticeable SEs for me: runny nose, it aggravates my mild peripheral neuropathy in my fingers for a couple of days and my eyes get a bit itchy.

    lago - 2 year out! great news.... so happy to hear..Question is anastrozole endrocrine therapy? Im scheduled for Femara in about 2 weeks --How long do you have to take anastrozole?

    Hello Sistahs!! I am coming up on my 4 year anniversary. It is hard to believe so much time has gone by.. My breast is still sore. HA

    I guess it will be forever and thats ok as long as forever is a long time. I think I will breath even easier after the five year mark. Life is good!!

    Yes, please come back often. Many HER2-Pos women don't post past treatment, and I suspect it's because they're out there, living their lives.

    Thank you, Aussie-Sharon and September Song.  I'm keeping this thread in the back of my mind - especially going into surgery tomorrow.  Best wishes to you both and all the great people at this site who have made this very tense past week so much easier to endure!

    Two years and one month out from diagnosis, and feeling better every day. Body aches have diminshed, skin looks good, hair is coming back thick and strong (albeit gray....). Major side effect is gynae. I'm assuming that that's caused by the tamoxifen. On the tamox, my onc told me the other day "just try to stay on it for another year".... so I think that oncs recognise the high drop out rate among hormonal users and are trying to use another tact - a more pragmatic one.

    Hi. I don't post here often, but stop in every now and again to offer hope.



    I was 45 when diagnosed in 2008, HER2+++ 2 positive nodes. Small skin recurrence after two years. Back into treatment in 2010, but doing just fine now. I am still on Herceptin and I probably always will be on Herceptin. Doesn't bother me other than having to go every three weeks and sit for an hour or so while they infuse. I developed lymphedema in my arm and thought it was the end of the world...not so. I have the help of a great therapist who taught me how to massage and wear compression sleeves.



    My oldest was 12 when I was diagnosed. He just turned 17 and we are getting ready for him to go away to college. My youngest was 6 and he is turning 11 next month and getting ready for middle school. My faith is stronger than ever. Friends have come into my life, and others have left. My marriage is stronger than ever and I am happy....truly happy.



    Hang in there ladies.....this too shall pass. I am certain that there must be many more Her2+ survivors out there, but they are busy living their lives.....you will be too!!!

    You are welcome Lee A. My diagnosis is almost the same as yours. With the recurrence, I became ER+ AND HER2+++. I was also a grade 3 and staged at 2B. I take daily aromasin. Not a big deal at all. This combined with the herceptin are good follow-up treatments.



    Keep a happy thought. I got a bit nervous and scared in those first months, but I can honestly say that there are more days that I don't even think about cancer at all.....and very few where I worry.
