Hello. I had a lumpectomy to remove a very small hormone positive and HER2 negative DCIS in 2023, but I am 9 years out from the HER2 positive and hormone negative breast cancer that was treated in 2016. I still think of all the women dealing with BC (which is why I I am back here today) and always fear recurrence but I take better care of myself and in some ways, feel healthier than ever.

Thank u for giving us hope! 9 years is amazing! What treatment did you have?

I'm 2 years out. Very small tumor with large area of high grade DCIS

@pipandor As a 23 year survivor of MBC, I was always so afraid of a recurrence. I originally had liver mets at dx. 12 years ago I had a recurrence in 2 chest nodes. They are now gone and I have been NED for 9 years so far.

Snm, it seems that you had a similar diagnosis to mine. I haven't been on this forum for ages and our diagnosis used to be posted automatically. Not sure why that changed. Here is what I copied from my profile :

01/2016 Invasive or Infiltrating Ductal Carcinoma (IDC) Left, 1cm, Stage IA, Grade 3, 3 clear nodes, ER-, PR-, HER2+

I had a lumpectomy, three months of weekly taxol and trastuzumab, radiation and a year of trastuzumab every three weeks.

    02/2023 Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS)Left, Stage 0, Grade 3, ER+, PR+

Another lumpectomy in the same breast but no more radiation in that breast. My onco didn't think tamoxifen was necessary but a yearly mammo and ultrasound.

Denny123, it sure is good to hear from women like you! I wish you many more years. You certainly seem to know how to make the best of them 🙂

@chandkousar75 It looks as though k4katz hasn't been active in our community since 2011. Do you have a specific question we can help you with?
