Ashla they know what I do. They also know what I have done for the organization. Everyone I met with was between the ages of 31 and 24 including the hiring manager… and I have worked with the hiring manager and one of the team members. I'm sure the person they hired was in that age bracket. I kinda knew I didn't have a chance when I saw 2 team members I didn't know and noticed their age. At the end of the day I'm sure all 3 candidates (includes me) were qualified. They could go with diversity or sorority. They picked the later. Granted I don't know for sure but I also noticed in the restructuring, the young landed the jobs. Seriously what would people in their 40's and 50's know about health issues. Having an 100% young team makes more sense.0 -
chickad - keeping you and DH in my thoughts, hope all goes smoothly for both of you.
lago - sorry on the job, the ACS is missing out on an opportunity to have a dedicated person on their staff.

chickd. Sorry to hear about your husband. Hope all is ok. Big hugs.0 -
Thanks Miss Shasha and everyone else for your continued prayers...looking for a miracle!

Lago- sorry about the job. It is hard to understand how a qualified mature dedicated person can be passed up for a younger person. It is their loss.
Dana, Hope all goes well for John tomorrow. Looks like the snow is going to be heavy in your area. Be safe drive careful. Hugs0 -
lago sorry about the job front. Hopefully you'll find find something better.0 -
Lago sorry they didn't realize what an asset you would've been to ACS
ChickD , still praying for you and DH0 -
sorry you didn't get the job, lago. Age discrimination is alive and well.0 -
I don't think they even know they are discriminating. They just hire people like themselves. Too young to understand that having a diverse team with varied skills is an asset (not a threat).0 -
Ok so I got pet scan results! Everything came back good lungs, liver ,brain, femur except got something on adrenal gland that need a MRI sat now uggh! Now Should I ask for another bone scan? I had one in May? I feel like I need one b/c I got aches&pains in upper back!! So tomorrow is my surgeon appt...we are sceduling surgery!! omg This is too much crap

Sorry lago I look at it this way it's there loss you are a very informative person and would have been a great asset..0 -
ChickaD hang in there. Got my fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Lago i am so sorry. You are not alone. Wonder why no one points out that a lot of those who have been laid off are older? The corporations hide it by "restructuring". Sigh. I will wish you luck in finding something better. Any chance you could look at corporations who helped finance things for ACS? You must have worked with them as well?0 -
Lago
It all makes me think less of theACS. I volunteered locally here .... In what appears to me to be an under served area.. And I never heard a word from them.
Perhaps a smaller , more personalized program @ a hospital or treatment center?0 -
Chicka D...
Safe journey and lots of love!0 -
Lago that doesn't even make sense anymore to me age should never be a factor, but it gets in there all the time.
Chickie I know this is a lot for u, I'm so sorry for u and DH =, what a mess I hope there's some good news tomorrow for u 2.

Their loss Lago!!0 -
Iago, so sorry about the job. It's definitely their loss
ChickaD, I'm praying for you and your dh.
Goutlaw, congrats on good results! I don't think you need another bone scan; pet scans are particularly good at picking up any bone activity. If there was anything there, it would have been seen.
Nicky0 -
wow Goutlaw! Sounds like you've got THE PLAN! Covering all your bases... You go girl!0 -
kayb I am not just looking at cancer orgs. There are many causes I would fight for. I don't want to go into a smaller organization. They tend not to be stable and I can't afford to be losing job after job.0 -
HI Lago...thanks for being so honest with all of us about your job searches. Many kudos to you for your continued perseverence. Just knowing you through your posts on this board, you seem to be a very iintelligent, well spoken, dedicated, and courageous person. ANY company would be lucky to have an employee like you. Good luck in your continued search and Gods blessings

Can someone Tell me chances of breastcancer spreading to adrenal glands? Pet scan showed tumor there? same side as breast cancer? but everything else clear dont make sense please help?

Their loss Lago. So many small to medium non-profits-but they have to work so hard to stay open.
Dana-best luck with the doc appointments and drive and more eye drops. Maybe if you take your antinausea meds...
Had a PET yesterday. Have announced-not in a rude manner- needs to be the end of the scans. If clean and going to skip along taking what ever oral I can tolerate and not keep looking for the black spots. Anyone else feel that way?
Have a medium pumpkin roasting in the oven to make pumpkin soup for my vegan daughter with stuffing in acorn squash. She is veering from vegan to vegeterian for Grandmas fruit salad (the old mandrian oranges, pineapple, coconut, sour cream mixture), and pie. With rolls of some sort from my way way way old sour cream starter.
A happy day of thanks-as is every day to each.0 -
goutlaw it can happen but I don't know what the chances are. Also, until they biopsy it they can't tell if it's cancer. I do believe even if it's cancer, if this is the only place they will surgically remove it. Keep us posted. I know lots of folks that had scars like this and ended up not having mets.
SusanHG123 my onc doesn't do scans regularly even for stage III unless there is a symptom. From what I have read an what my onc has told me that mets tend to occur more often in the first 2 years. Seems like you are getting close to that 2 year mark. Maybe they will cut you lose then. I know my liver was scanned for 2 years. I was real happen when my onc said "Yeah they're cysts. No more scans."0 -
my mo /so don't order scans or do blood markers either. They both said we wouldn't worry about it unless my body gave us some reason to worry. Guess we get an excuse to be hypochondriacs.
