Hahaha, and on that note I will quit procrastinating and head downstairs to my treadmill!  This thread gives me a much needed push today.

Rode 10 miles (inside) then braved a snowstorm and crazy shoppers to get groceries. I had to park WAY out from the store. After shopping I pushed my full cart through 2 inches of snow and slush ALL the way back. GREAT workout! Lol.

Came home, unpacked the car, then had to go help dig DH out because HE got stuck in the driveway. WHO'S THE WOMAN????!!!!!  Winking

Also totaled up my January miles. I rode 200 miles in January. Not a bad start!

Thank you all so much for the laughs, cheers, advice....and especially for being The Voices!!

Hehe - the hard part is "not rewarding" myself out a workout.  I really wanted a grilled Chic-Fil-A sandwich last night after finishing the work out at 9:30 PM ... but on Fooducate the sandwich is rated very bad - mostly due to the chemicals in the bun ... so I refrained and when I got home made my kale/blueberry smoothie and had 2 slices of Ezekel sprouted cinnamon bread instead.  Ezekel = low fat, low sugar.

Have a great Saturday everyone - reminder to get outside and get a little Vitamin D today - even if you have to do it in a big fluffy robe!

I love, love, love Ezekiel bread.

Can you get vitamin D from snow???? Cuz we're getting more right now!

I'm trying out a new app today called Argus.  It makes your phone into a pedometer or tracks your walk or run through gps.  So far I love it!. So today I walked 28 minutes and 23 seconds and shoveled and sculpted 24 minutes and 36 seconds.  Hell no I'm not leaving those seconds off!  The only problem is they did not have shovel and sculpt in the exercise list, nor do they have my other favorite summertime activity of gardening.  I think this app must be for young people who don't own homes because they don't have those and have things like surfing, paddleboarding, skiing and inline skating!

My head is still stuffed up.  I feel like someone blew up my head with a basketball pump.  At least I feel good enough to get around.

Two rounds of Shovel & Sculpt this morning, once before and once after the snowplow came through.

Going for a nap then will do a.m. yoga dvd to stretch out shoulders & arms sore from all the S&S.  ♥

22k bike ride, but that was after hitting the outlet mall, so I bet I chalked up some "foot" distance too! Nerdy

Dulci - good job on your month!  Two - sounds like an interesting app.  Nihahi - Shop N Sculpt definitely counts!  Badger - you're also right up there in the running for Shovel N Sculpt Queen!

Temps hit 50 yesterday.  Took advantage of it and did a 4.5 mile run in the park - I thought that most of the snow would have been melted off the trail, but I miscalculated a bit and at some points was slogging through 3-4 inches of snow.  No matter - it was a beautiful day and it felt wonderful to get out.  More snow/ice coming overnight tonight.  Bawling

Instead of doing my 8 kilometers in 25 minutes on my stationary bike I did 9 km in 28 minutes.

I think I need to aim for 9km in 30 minutes as I don't feel so good now!

Exercise is tough. I will be tougher.

I love the idea of logging exercise.

I've logged my weekly exercise for years in a notebook; doing so & checking in here are what has forced me to be consistent.

I am still pretty sniffy & sneezy, so did a light 30 minute 'Trim Walk' with Denise Austin & 15 minutes of light toning.

I will log in later today to tell you about my fun exercise plans for next week!

bounce..... I LOVE that mindset...."exercise is tough....I will be tougher"!!!

It's been cooler here than we expected, but compared to the reality of winter, it's been great. We still have a couple more days here, before returning to the "dreadmill" option. Have a great day ladies!

I got out and ended up doing 15 and not the 25 miles I had planned.  It was raw and about 40 degrees.  All was fine until it started to rain, and I was underdressed, so turned around.  It is glorious out today so will get in about 15 miles prior to Hawks madness setting in.

Then, I went to the wine bar to plan my birthday launch party for next Thursday evening.  A tradition.  But did this by way of Nordstrom Rack as needed some warm hose, and then hit the "getting rid of excess veggies" sale at one of the fruit stalls.  I intended to get just a few things including garlic and mushrooms.  But I got seven large tomatoes for a dollar, and six tangelos for two.  He GAVE me half a large box of blueberries.  I got to lug all this stuff the mile home for extra exercise points.  I am making an elk ragu bolognese for the birthday party so will use the tomatoes in that.

I kicked off February with two glasses of champagne.  I think a milestone month as goes:

    • Pre birthday on the 6th
    • Actual birthday dinner on the 9th with friends
    • Valentine's and Burlesque at the wine bar on the 14th
    • Good-bye party at the Church on the 15th for my Rector
    • Move on the 22nd and 23rd
    • Trip to Vancouver BC to see my Rector consecrated as Bishop of New Westminster on March 1

Did I mention a lot of work in the midst of all this???   Plus, of course exercise.  I think I may have that one covered the weekend of my move.

I am just so excited.  A new chapter in my life (calling it Encore Career), and one where I harness my cancer experience to make a difference in the lives of others.  Plus, continue with my other work.  Since this is the exercise thread, I need to mention that I can't pull this off without a lot of exercise.  I need it for energy, sleep, focus, and brain power.  Not to mention looking a lot more professional if I don't turn into a blob.  (Those new eBay Prada slacks look amazing on me.)

I am thinking oatmeal (steel cut) with some of those fresh blueberries for breakfast.  Yum! - Claire

oh, yum!!! Claire...blueberries!!! I can almost see Pike's Place produce.....and the flowers....Nerdy You are living in a blessed place! Sounds like a busy, happy February.

30 minutes shovel/sculpt...with the additional moves needed to climb down into a ditch and dig out what's left of my mailbox after somebody plowed the road this morning. Shocked

Then 18 miles on the bike since we could not get out to church.

More snow on the way Tuesday night....it had better not keep me from nipples on Wednesday!!!

I got out with my dog for about 30 minutes on the snowmobile trail.  Lots of new snow and the groomer hadn't been by yet so although the machines had broken trail the going was still a bit of a workout.  Lovely day here.  Just near freezing.

Nothing for me today - needed a rest day!  To catch up from Friday......I already posted my early a.m. group class, then after work I spent 70 minutes on shovel, scrape, chop, hack, scoop, toss and throw sculpt!  Holee sh*t, was I whipped.  I used my ice chopper to hack and chop my way through a 4' high bank of mostly frozen yuck at the end of the driveway that was gradually narrowing our access each time the plow went through.  Then to get the chopped up stuff out of the drive I got in a lot of squats with the snow shovel to scoop it up and throw it as far as I could over the existing snow banks.  I was pretty darn proud of myself after that!

Yesterday I walked half a mile to the gym (remember, my SUV suffered death by collision on Wednesday) on unplowed sidewalks and did 4 miles walk/run intervals on the treadmill. Finished with lower back, abs and stretching.  Tried to do some more shoveling when I got home (hitched a ride with a friend) but only managed about 30 minutes before giving in to exhaustion.  Slept the entire afternoon away yesterday and am not pushing myself today.

Claire, sounds like an exciting month ahead of you. I wish I were moving, too, which would force me to get rid of all my clutter.

Got to the gym and realized I had forgotten my sneakers. So got back on my bike, went home and did a hot kettlebells routine.

Dulci - that is a crazy amount of snow!!  Plan B:  UV lamp for home.  :)  Then do have one on the market for those who suffer from season depression due to lack of sunshine.

    Finished the Week with:  Sun: 0    Mon:  70 / 10.15 miles  Tues:  35 / 6.00 miles  Wed:  90 / 11.00 miles  Thurs: 0 (my bad)  Fri:  120  / 14.5 miles    Sat:  92 / 10 miles

Today, I'm going to go hiking.  I don't know what is involved, I don't think I have the right shoes, but I printed the map for the trail and will report back!  I don't want to do the gym today and hopefully this will be considered moderate enough exercise.  The trail said moderate - moderate high.  I'm shaving my legs before going .. if something happens to me and they have to pluck me off the mountain in a helicopter I want to make sure the caption doesn't read "Prickly Leg Rescue from Top of Desert Mountain".  :)

Inspired that's so funny and be careful out there.  Years ago, a lady I worked with actually did get plucked out of the Grand Canyon by helicopter.  She had sprained her ankle, so that's a fabulous idea to shave your legs and ankles.

I walked in the snowy but sunshiny cold for 32 minutes. and went to the grocery store this afternoon.   Trying to get my steps up to 10K for the day but I'm at 7K right now and just want to sit so I'm not sure I'll make it.

Claire it sounds like a busy and exciting month for you.  I think its good to get a whole new fresh start.  I feel that itch a little too, but then my energy will tank and I think maybe in a few more months!

From my ride today.  Just magical.  Yes, I am excited about the move.  What I do know is that several things have to come together for it all to work.  It would not have been the same outcome a year ago.  This is not a question of energy, but more one of where my life has taken me recently.  The move is following the action. - Claire

Hi everyone, I finished my hike without incidence.  I did twist ankle a bit in shoes, so might needs ones with better ankle support.  Do you guys know if after you hike, does the tiredness catches up with you later?  What I mean is, when I do my workout, I'm hot and sweaty, and I know right then it is vigorous.  I didn't feel that level of intensity while hiking, but later at home I sure felt worn out.  LOL  I hope that means it was effective.  I did the 3 1/2 mile trail.  It was so much fun! On the trail, I also ran into a lady that I talk to sometimes at the gym.  Here is a photo I took.

    Two words Dolce.....hiking boots!

Another of life's lessons I learned the hard way.  I have Asolos and they work great in the dead of winter too.  I bought my first pair in Calgary after doing some hiking there and realizing that I deserved better.

Hikes etc work better if you follow them with some serious tub time. - Claire

Walked the dogs a mile before the Super Bowl, which I don't care much about, then went to the gym and ran one mile on the dreadmill and did upper and lower body weights during the first half. Got home in time to join DH & DS for halftime snacks.
