Great pictures, Claire and Inspired!
I have been busy today packing as tomorrow DH & I take off for our annual week of fun in the warm Arizona sun.......I plan to do lots of outdoor activities, but probably won't report in much......have a great week all!

Well it was two pages back, but Heidihill, I love the hot kettlebells concept :-)
Went to a flow jam today -- hoopers, jugglers, and related arts. It was fun to hoop outdoors with the youngsters (and a sound system), but next time I need more sunscreen. My ears feel burned.
Opted out of the superbowl. Even the commercials left me cold this year. Meh!

Love reading how everyone is doing! Also, thoroughly enjoy the pictures.
I've been under the weather this week so no activity to report, except going to the doctor twice. Feeling much better now and hope to get at it next week.
Ruth: Have a GREAT trip!

Claire and Inspired - beautiful pictures! Inspired - we do a lot hiking at our cabin, and I usually end the hike in the hot tub with a cold beer!
Hiking is definitely great exercise - it's strenuous, it's like intervals because you climb and descend, and it's a great balance exercise as well. I bet your felt a bit sore this morning - that proves it's a good workout. If you're going to do more of it, do invest in good hiking boots. They make a world of difference. Also, I tend to be a bit klutzy, so I have hiking poles as well. They're also really good to help keep my LE under control when hiking. Ruth - have a wonderful time in the warm sun! Ann - sounds like a fun day yesterday! Annie - I'm curious - was the gym more or less crowded than normal during the Super Bowl? (Or the Superb Owl, as Stephen Colbert would say).Hooray, the Super Bowl is over - that means that the football season is finally over and we can start concentrating on baseball. Pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training in 10 days!!!

Pilates DVD this morning. Pouring rain that's supposed to switch over to snow around noon. Yuk.

So hard to get back in the swing of exercising again. Still have not been to the new gym. Did manage to walk at lunch 4 days last week, but the weekend comes and I am just a slug. Did some classical stretch this morning. No walk today as it is snowing again. And still no gym this evening because of a desperately needed hair appointment. If I do one thing tonight it should be to put my gym bag in the car!

Treadmill done.

Beautiful pictures! I'm always amazed at the incredible variety of activies represented here. Inspired - I bought some Merrell (sp?) hiking boots 10 y ears ago for a Machu Picchu trek in Peru and they're still my go-to for tough terrain. I actually wore them to work all last week with jeans (special dress code exception all week because of the frigid, snowy weather). One nice side effect I noticed was that with the firm support I didn't have any achy feet problems while I was wearing them.
I got in my 6am group class which was tough, as usual. That'll probably be it for today except for perhaps 5 minutes or so after work on my zero-gravity thingy that I got for Christmas.

10 miles inside biking.
Pet peeve: phone ringing while I'm exercising. Twice. I did not stop to answer, but then I stressed and rode faster. Boooo!!! Lol. Why? So I could hurry up and get there????

Stopping by one last time before I take off. Because I know I will get lots of walking, but little toning, in this week (and because I am obsessive), I did an hour of Spot Toning with Denise Austin & 45 minutes of pilates this morning. I have the suitcase packed & will NOT dig through it again, but am still trying to figure what sort of jacket to bring.....decisions, decisions!
Have a great week, love to you all!0 -
Ruth - hope you are feeling well and have a wonderful trip.
I walked to work this morning instead of taking the bus. 35 minutes and about 3 kilometers.

Probably too late but Ruth I wish you the bestest of trips. Enjoy girl - we'll miss you!
Good job Bounce! Way to go!
Dulci - Isn't it weird how we can't seem to just let the phone ring without experiencing some level of anxiety? However did we manage without caller ID and call waiting and voice mail and oh my goodness having just one phone in the house that was pretty much stuck to the wall in an inconvenient, uncomfortable spot?!!

ann, how about hot hooping? Have fun Ruth!
Hiked 16k with SIL.

Fortunately, I devised my new boring exercise routine of running up and down the stairs for an hour just in time for yet another snow storm.

I walked a mile with the walk at home video tonight...doesn't seem like much compared to most of you gals but its all I can do right now...and I am glad I was able to do it. I need so much motivation.. I think I am so lazy..

Just got in from a run which felt more like a ski with bright sunshine and a brisk NW wind. Feel just fab. Think I will go out to do some errands while the sun is still bright. - Claire

Have a great trip Ruth. Every mile is a victory IamNancy .
Went to the gym after work for 30 minutes on the Elliptical plus some toning and weights.

Nancy you got to start somewhere. It took me quite a while to work up to semi regular exercise and still not where I should be throughout the week.
I noticed today that it was light out when I arrived at work at 6:50. That's a first! Woohoo darkness abating.
I walked 29 minutes outside and I did 6 flights up and down 3 times.

45km bike ride this morning, round of golf this afternoon.
Ruth, I sure hope you packed a pair of long pants and a warm top!!! Everyone was golfing in long pants and jackets this afternoon, in the heat of the day in Scottsdale. Tonight it is supposed to go down to 5C. Of course, Wednesday, after we leave, it is supposed to start warming up again

Nancy - I agree with TwoHobbies...ya gotta start somewhere and guess what? You got started! It's not a race, so you just do what you can and be proud of yourself for getting off the couch, girlfriend! There are tons of people out there who wouldn't be able to walk a mile (including several of my in-laws), but you can.....YAY!!

Walked the dogs and did several sets of stairs, but I walk them. If I ran like WW, I'd be sure to trip and come tumbling down.

Nancy - a mile is fabulous! When I started my exercise program after active treatment was done, managing 10 minutes was a victory for me. Keep checking this thread and you'll soon hear our Voices encouraging you to get going on those blah days.
Had my annual dermatologist exam this morning - just one little thing he had to burn off my face, and the rest of my skin is all clear. My dad had a spot of melanoma on his leg when he was about 60 - he's fortunate in that it was caught early and surgery provided a cure - he lived another 25 years and died of something else. But with a family history like that, doctors get a little twitchy about me, so I have my annual head-to-toe inspection. Next up - I'm due for a colonoscopy this year!
(My dad had a bout with colon cancer too - again, surgery provided a cure and he died years later of something else - but doctors are twitchy about me on that one too.) Guess I need to make that appointment now. Ugh. 30 minute yoga DVD this morning. I hadn't done it in a few weeks, and it felt wonderful stretching everything out.

My dog and I just got back from a glorious walk on the snowmobile trail. It was well groomed today and easy going. It almost feels like spring is just around the corner despite all those stupid groundhogs.

Yearly mammo this afternoon and all clear and well with normie righty.
Body balance this morning.

Good news LilacBlue!
I did 4.25 miles walk/run intervals on the treadmill followed by lower back, abs and stretching. I sound like a broken record on my treadmill days!

Due to yesterdays snowstorm they let us out of work early, so I had to reschedule hair appt. for today after work. So no gym again... but I really need this hair appointment as I'm rocking a stripe! Did some shovel and sculpt last night, and just came back from a brisk walk around campus - a lot of slushy puddles to avoid (and the cars that aim for them), but just gorgeous out, with all the snow in the trees. Preparing for storm two tomorrow, I bet work will be cancelled, if not I'm going to work from home, it took me forever to get home in the storm yesterday. And another storm is predicted for Sunday/Monday - yikes! Glad a warm weather vacation is coming up, going to Dominican Republic in 8 days!

S&S Thanks and consistency is key so keep at it. Pat, lucky puppy YOU in 8 days.

IamNancy - Lets keep each other company.
I never considered myself built for exercise but Ruth has persuaded me to start gently and build up. And logging exercise is very satisfying - even if its small amounts - it adds up to a lot more than nothing.
So far I am mainly walking outside or cycling on an exercise bike.
I think I am scared of using my arm much so haven't gotten into anything else.
I walked to work again this morning - its fun.
This afternoon I noticed some twinges in my legs - like shin splints but not very sore. I really am a weakling - but working on it.TwoHobbies - If I tried 6 flights of stairs I would need medical attention!

Bounce, like you I'm afraid of overusing my arm (already have LE) so I just concentrate on lower body, stamina and my ever faithful treadmill..
