Upper body workout in the weight room followed by spin class this morning, now house cleaning - in case anyone is wondering, the dust bunny convention is in my living room

Heidi have a wonderful vacation. Ruth you should stay in AZ as the warm up is coming. Annie it's gorgeous here too.

Yesterday - a few trips down the bunny hill to remember how to ski and one trip down a longer, fairly easy hill and I was ready for the afternoon buffet (company event). Very cold, very windy, snow blowing everywhere and icy slopes meant I was not a confident skier.
Today, no exercise. Just car shopping (remember the dumb ass that turned left, crossing traffic in front of me last week?). We're making progress on finding a new car but are not rushing into anything. It's gotta be something I like that's within our no loan budget. Fish fry tonight (I hate fish) but I'm bringing my signature taco salad and could survive on just that if I have to

TwoHobbies, that app looks cool but I have a dumb phone that only calls & texts.

I sure do get my five dollars worth from those big box store pedometers. I know it's better to spend a little more for quality but I'm so hard on my gear that replacement price is a consideration. Anyone mind sharing the approx cost of a Fit Bit or Fuel Band?
HeidiHill, have a great time on ski vacation!
Ruth, thanks for checking in, safe travels!
Did errands this morning, then a round of Shovel & Sculpt. Just had lunch and now getting sleepy. I think a nap is in order, then Rodney Yee's AM yoga DVD for a post-snooze stretch. ♥ to all

Joy: So glad to see you. I think about you often.
Cheryl: Your bunnies multiplied, hopped to the East Coast, and landed in my house. Do you want them back?
SandS: Have fun car shopping.
After 2 antibiotics, a steroid pack, and eye drops for pink eye, I'm finally better. Bob Costas has pink eye - that's why he's wearing glasses during his coverage of the Olympics. My doctor told me pink eye was going around. Never dreamed it would make it to Sochi!
Speaking of the Olympics, my cousin's daughter is on the Biathlon Team! Needless to say, we are very proud of her. Olympics is in her blood: both my cousin and his wife were on Olympic Rowing Teams. Her name is Hannah Dreissigacker. Go Hannah! Here's her blog: http://hannahsartventure.blogspot.com/
Fast walked at the park this afternoon in 55 degrees. Decided only to walk and not start back to jogging yet.

((Wonderland)) I thought of you today as I bought my first GS Cookies of the year. There's a new kind - cranberry citrus crisps. They sound good, have you tried them?
0 -
Badger I have the cranberry citrus crisps, they are nice 'dunking' cookies so yes I recommend them. I paid $100 for my Fitbit but I've seen them on sale at Target for $80, I really love mine but I don't do the sleep or food, my friend gave one to her BF for Christmas and he's obsessed with it, doing the sleep, the food and the exercise.

I got to go skiing today! Wonderful snow, and I did about 8 miles.
I also got to look at the view from near my new place. Breathtaking when the mountains are out. Will post pix later.
Came back to birthday flowers from my long term client. Beyond touched.
Making a pre birthday meal of venison plus wine I got from the nonprofit. Amazing combination. Roasting the potatoes, and I have asparagus and the carrots I roasted two days ago. Venison is a present from last year, but is just fine after marination.
I feel beyond blessed as I close out this year of my life. More to come starting tomorrow! And it's snowing here in Seattle. Just magical. - Claire

Happy Birthday, Claire. It snowed here too. Oh I forgot that's not news in Chicago. So I did go for a 37 minute walk yesterday and then did my laundry hauling again. Yesterday we had this snow that was so light and fluffy and had sparkles in it. It was beautiful but it looked like the fake snow they use on stage. It was beautiful to walk in though.
Dulci we have a Lindt store near us and I have to tell you there are so many flavors you don't get in a regular store. OMG its like crack. But three only have 15 carbs so I try to stick to 3 or 4 a few times a week and then it keeps me from eating other sweets with more carbs.
Badger I was looking at the fitbits at Christmas. I believe the Flex is more expensive and it was out of stock everywhere. Then I heard the bands are bothering some people's wrists. Some designer is going to be making bands for them in the spring. Maybe they will be prettier and not bother the skin. So anyway, that's why I started using the Argus as I was waiting to get a Flex later but now I may just continue with this.
Wonderland how exciting to know someone in the Olympics. I want to take a look at her blog. I am never that interested in the summer olympics but I adore the winter. Because I love the skiing and snowboarding I think.
So I'm off to look at Hannah's blog and Wunda chair?

TwoHobbies, wasn't that a pretty snow? Here's a haiku I wrote very early this morning:
A billion stars and
moon shine on diamond dust snow.
The night world glitters.
0 -
Badger it was gorgeous and that haiku says it great. I actually have just been trying to get a picture of the sparkles with my iphone and out a window, but I don't think I'm very successful. When people say the Inuit had many words for snow, I can understand that.

Treadmill done! I went the same speed and incline but took way longer steps. It became a totally different workout as it took way more effort. Taking longer steps simply didn't occur to me before. It's all good.

Hi Everyone,
Well, I finished the week okay, but missed my goals. Here is what I have: 7.17 Hours and 44.5 Miles.
However, I finally added up January's month and I finished with: 30.45 Hours and 60.75 Miles.
Regarding chocolate post: WalMart is now carrying "Green and Blacks" Organic 85% Dark Chocolate Bars. For you aficionados out there, one serving is 12 squares so you can sprinkle lots of yumminess throughout your day and stay within 1 serving.
Funny about pink eye making it all the way to Sochi.
I love Tarja'.
Have a great weekend everyone - keep jammin'!

Wow - everyone's so busy - great to see!
Enjoying watching the Olympics - loved the stylized horse trioka in the early part of Opening Ceremonies, but thought things got grim after the Peter the Great section. That Sage dude who won the slopestyling - what a character! I enjoyed him thoroughly.
Biggest Loser fans - I pretty much figured that Rachel would win as she re-found her competitive spirit, but like others was surprised at unhealthy she looked. Hopefully it was for competition's sake, and now that she's won she'll feel comfortable putting 10 or 15 pounds. I loved how David turned out - he really seems to have found himself. It was a very nice group of contestants this time - not like that nasty group a few years ago.
5 mile run in the park yesterday - 30 degree temps - I'm beginning to really love these cold weather runs. Saw two beautiful Eastern Bluebirds - they both flew right in front of me as I ran. Later on, a Red Tailed Hawk flew low in front of me - magnificent. Heading out to run errands today.

We also loved Sage! We saw him last week on TV for the first time in the Extreme Games - can you believe the final stunt in the air was one he had never done before in competition or in practice?
I noticed one thing about these guys - they LOVE what they do. One is chewing gum during his run down the slope, the other is adjusting his jacket, they are just out there having a great time. I also admired how well they all got along together - didn't matter what country they were from. I supposed it is a small community but I felt they were all champions.

Jogged one mile and walked/jogged the dogs another. Beautiful weather here, but supposed to turn cold (by our standards) again tomorrow.
Cheryl, dust bunnies are for wimps. At my house we have pet hair jack rabbits!
I've been loving the snow pictures. Here we had something called graupel last week. Looks like snow from a distance and more like "Dippity Dots" ice cream or styrofoam pellets close up.
Claire, have a wonderful birthday. I love your positive can-do outlook on life!

Shovel and Sculpt 25 minutes and house cleaning. I don't know how long that was but it seemed like hours! I think I'm done exercising for the day because I want to curl up on the sofa.
Graupel, you say. Interesting. I think we just call that sleet here.
0 -
We had graupel earlier this year, too. I'd never heard of it before, but it IS different from sleet and hail. Learn something new every day!

Still not feeling great and am hoping it's not a sinus infection. Bleh.
Did some stairs and got my new hoop out to give it a try. I was home alone. Pretty impressed with myself until it jumped up WAY too close to my new right nipple!!!! Back in the closet for a bit. Lol.
Off to make my super green and healthy fav juice for dinner!

45 minutes of intervals on the elliptical, again, used the benefit of AZ time to up the resistance and speed.

No exercise for me this weekend other than some walking while running errands yesterday as I have wrenched my upper shoulders/neck area.
Have been watching the Olympics and loved Sage. Truly a character; does he remind anyone else of the guy in Fast Times at Ridgemont High?? Really enjoying watching the Winter sports.

walked dogs = 1 mile

Yes - very much so now that you mention it Odie! (re: Sage)

Happy Birthday, Claire! Inspired, we are in Mesa, but head home and back to the cold tomorrow. Have been spending every second outside and will get another walk in before heading to the airport. Biggest Loser fans, my niece went to high school with Rachel and corresponded with her several times during the show. I think she will do alright. Talk to you once I am back in the Ice Bowl of North Dakota

Wonderland, that's really cool about your cousin's Olympic kid. Claire, Happy Birthday! May you have another terrific year. Dulcigirl, I used to hoop with a washcloth stuffed in my bra on the surgery/rads side, which probably wasn't all that smart.
Biggest Loser... I personally think she looks fine. Not that we should all strive to be that lean, but unless she's losing muscle, or losing her period, I don't see reason for alarm.
Weights and quite a bit of hooping today. Had a live online group lesson with a UK hooper. That was fun!

hi all and welcome Headeast. Exercise yesterday was AM yoga DVD, felt so good to stretch and relax. Spent most of the day doing bookwork but also got in some Scrub & Sculpt. Was lazy and ordered pizza for supper.
Woke up with a headache so took the day off work. Not prone to them so it's either stress or the wheat in the pizza crust.
Happy (early) Birthday, Claire!
((odie)) hope your neck & shoulders are OK.
Lisa, how's the car shopping going?
Cheryl, the cranberry citrus crisps ARE good.
Ruth, welcome home! ♥ to all

Sage Kotsenburg really is like Spicoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High, isn't he? The Post had a good article on him yesterday that made the comparison:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/olympics/mens...
From the article:
I could try to dissect what he did, but I would be faking it worse
than if I were trying to explain a quadruple toe loop. Better sometimes
to let the artist explain his work:“Yeah. So I, uh, dropped in,
and I did a cab 270 onto the first down rail, then followed up with a
half-cab on, back-five off, on the second feature, and then a half-cab
up, lay backside 180 off the cannon box, then a cab double cork 1260
Holy Crail from 10 off the toe with rocket air, then a back 1620 Japan.”Whoa.
“That
was the best run of my life, hands down,” Kotsenburg said. “I said to
my coach, ‘Hey, Bill, I might do a 1620 Japan. It’s never been done
before and I had never tried it before. He was like, ‘You’re in the
finals of the Olympics. You might as well go all out.’“And I
just threw it and it ended up coming around just like the 1260, but a
full 360 more,” he said. “I could not believe riding out of that that I
landed that in the first try.”Watched some curling this morning - on our trip we saw the island off Scotland where curling stones come from - who knew?
30 minute yoga DVD this morning - felt good stretching everything out.

60 minute early morning group class today. Not much this weekend except car shopping and cooking for a fish fry on Saturday and then yesterday I was on my feet all day baking. Boy oh boy did my feet hurt by the end of the day. Got five Valentine's Day boxes packed up with yummy goodies and ready for the post office today. Plus there's a bunch leftover for a bake sale fundraiser next week for a co-worker who's battling leukemia and has had some recent setbacks. Those are in the freezer.
Badger - car shopping is going ok, considering the lack of time I have to devote to it. DH has been a real peach doing a lot of online shopping for me. We'll be heading across the state this weekend to visit a BIL who is not doing well (fighting various cancers for 10 years, he's the reason I bought an AFLAC cancer policy in 2005!) and will tie in a visit to a car dealer in Royal Oak who has a few that we're interested in. Fortunately for me my DH works about 150 yards from the end of our driveway, so we've been doing OK with one vehicle for the time being.

Pretty sedentary weekend for me - some classical stretch this morning. Spent time packing for trip Wednesday. Apparently dinners are "smart casual", so capris and a t-shirt are not going to cut it. However, I have very little in the way of appropriate tropical dinner wear. So hubby got a fashion show as I desperately tried to find 6 outfits - I wound up with 4, so that will have to do, as it is not summer clothes shopping time in the northeast. Pretty excited to be going somewhere warm, that's for sure.

Feeling SO much better today!!
Several sets of stairs done and will do a few more before going to work. Yay!!

Hello Ladies
Hope everyone is feeling better.
I walked to work this morning 35 minutes and then ... I walked home too which doubles the amount of exercise I usually do in a day.
When I consider the only exercise I did before my diagnosis was opening the fridge door I am quite happy with myself today.
