I love the quote/poster, Ruth!
Hooped for 30 minutes. Even managed some liquid awesome! ;-)

Walked 38 minutes and 1 hr 25 minutes of yoga. Followed by 2 aspirin and I think I need a hot bath!
Ruth your pants on inside out reminded me of a day I went to work with two different shoes on. Yep that's me.

5 miles on the treadmill this morning, ran 3.5 of them. Then some vacuuming and running errands.

Love the quote Ruth, you know there are days when you go 'oh what the heck am I doing" and then you exercise and you end up smiling.
This morning did Bootcamp followed by Spin but I'm only taking credit for half the Bootcamp as I was 10 minutes late (gabbing on the phone) and then stopped to visit with one of the gym babies, nothing like getting lovely smiles and giggles from a 3 month old.
Badger I won a Nike backpack in Spin today and it's got your name on it......

Beautiful day today. Walked in park 12047 steps. Supposed to be chilly tomorrow so plan on gym for weights after church.

hey ladies! Got to K-Mart Thurs night and bought a couple sets of sheets for mom's new bed. Washed one set and put them on Fri when it was delivered. Also laid in a few critical supplies like TP. Realized I'd forgotten a mattress pad so back to K-Mart last night to get the white sale price. Need to put it on the bed so it's not taking up room in the trunk of my car.
Tues I leave for a conference then Fri fly down to FL. We head north on Sat. Should take maybe three days but I took off the whole week to get her settled in. Still need to buy a recliner for the living room. Thought we could wait and buy it once she got here but right now the only place to sit down is the bed and that won't do. Worth a trip to Madison tomorrow?? It can probably wait until Mon but I get so busy it's hard to break away. If I do it tomorrow, I could also get to the apt and re-make the bed properly.
Washed my car today and didn't recognize it when I came out of the grocery store LOL. Thanks Cheryl for backpack, it'll come in handy in a few months! Walked a lot yesterday and today, logged 20 miles since last post. ♥

Here's what I've been up to......combined 30km of shoeing and skiing in sticky spring snow....but it was a great 3 days!

Nihahi.....is that Lake Louise? I got to ski on it once, one of the amazing experiences of my life. I have to go skiing at least one more time this season. At least I got out cycling yesterday. Just pouring today, so a trudge around my new 'hood in my duck hunting shoes.
I learned something wonderful yesterday. There is a flower and vegetable farm at the foot of the hill, so access to veggies and flowers all summer. I got this ginormous bouquet of daffodils yesterday for $10, so have them everywhere.
This is the first weekend in a month that I have had any real free time. I have work, but not my primary focus. I am still figuring out my new place. I am so glad I have modestly-proportioned furniture. I just saw my neighbors' place. Mine looks vast and airy and theirs looks cramped. Same layout, but they have oversized pieces.
4 months to the Seattle-to-Portland so time to ramp up the training. I was fine yesterday, but think today will be a trudge. Need to check out when the Tulip Pedal is as coming right up. So time to think about all these things. That way, I will be SURE to get in enough exercise. - Claire

Hi Claire.....Louise is still BURIED in snow...in fact they have had several fatal avalanches right around the lake in the past few days, and got another dump of snow last night. I might get up in that area later this week though, if so, I'll post some photos just for you!
The photo is Kananaskis Lake.....an area just east and south of the Banff/Louise parks. It's in a provincial park with some incredible hiking/skiing/camping setups. Come on up someday....I'll show you around!
My sister lives in Seattle....I so enjoy hearing of your adventures....makes her feel a bit closer.

Yucky, gray, windy and cold here. Did some toning & now either have to drink some coffee or take a nap!

Nihahi....avalanches have been a problem here in WA state, but now just raining and super nasty out. So why a walk. I want to find the connection between the boring suburban road and the road with horse farms. Think a good project for today.
Just checked....Tulip Pedal is in 5 weeks. I know I am fit enough to do the 40 mile course, but should probably aim for the 60 mile one.
Just learned they are about to pave the gravel path along Lake Sammamish. I cycled along the parkway yesterday, but the path by the lake is infinitely prettier. The best was the complete part near Issaquah where the cherry trees were in bloom. These are real cherry trees, not the hybrids, so the scent was heavenly. - Claire

Beautiful pictures Nihahi. Ruth after my class this morning I was talking about you girls, I was wishing that this was the weekend you were all here as it is so glorious (today it will 88/90) and then when you guys are coming tits usually May grey and June gloom

Did Body Step today without the step, after all the physical therapy sessions I've just had my sciatic nerve is feeling good so I don't want to jinx it as I always 'feel' it after step. Then I came home to an absolute disaster, I'm minding the crazy golden retriever after her Dad's car accident, well she emptied both kitchen trash cans all over the place she 'd bitten through a couple of cat food cans, there were used tea bags and torn up paper towels, now I have to re wash the kitchen floor, needless to say I'm not happy with that naughty girl but she had a real good time, next time trash cans go up

So funny, that visual image Cheryl. LOL Cute doggie! Finished the week on Saturday with 7 hours and 50 miles. Will have to hit my 8 hour and 60 mile goal for sure this week. Hiked the mountain yesterday, it was hot and windy - about 85 degrees at time of hike.
Love the photos Nihahi - seems so enjoyable!

Love it, Ruth, lot of truth in that.
Drove to Madison today and got a nice rocker recliner for mom. Will be delivered Tues. Also brought a lamp so she'll have something other than overhead lighting until the moving van arrives. So many little things on the list to bring or replace, items like the dish drainer and the bathroom trash can. Why bring a half-bottle of Tide 1,500 miles when they sell that here.
Did a.m. yoga early this morning. Signed up for a Bunny Hop 5K in April. ♥

Badger, wishing you the best with the move for your mom. Lots of work but worth every minute.

We might have Chip and Shovel....ice AND snow
.Best of luck with the move, badger. Safe travels!

Really beginning to like my new gym. Was there Thursday after work doing intervals and arms - trainer mike comes by to everyone asking them if they would like to join bootcamp at 6pm - I politely decline, thinking no way I am ready for boot camp - then while I'm doing arms, I realize that boot camp was happening all around me, and so many of the things looked doable and fun! In my head I was thinking it was like insanity or P90x, I get tired just watching those commercials. So boot camp had women of all ages and abilities - I think the next time I might give it a try. I have a training session with Mike after work, I'm going to mention that I'd like to give boot camp a try. Also went to the gym yesterday, to work off the cake and ice cream from a birthday party Saturday. Some classical stretch this morning, but cold an yucky out today, so probably will skip the walk at lunch. I'm wondering if spring will ever get here.

60 minute group fitness this morning - after nearly TWO WEEKS of nothing (battling a curious case of fatigue). I'm already pretty sore from it but it feels good.
Pat01 - one important thing to remember when trying out a new class that may seem much too physically daunting for a beginner..... 'age appropriate' and/or 'fitness level appropriate' modifications. There are some things I just can't do any longer, mostly due to arthritis in my hands and bursitis in one shoulder. So, when we're supposed to something like triceps dips in class, I grab a weight and do skull crushers instead. Neither my shoulder nor my hands can handle weight bearing work like dips where my shoulder is rotated behind me, but I can easily do triceps weight moves over my head while standing or on a bench. Go ahead and try the class - you'll most likely be surprised at what you ARE capable of

Did the treadmill and walked on the snowmobile trail today. It's a glorious day and even though chilly, there was little wind. The crust is supporting and you can pretty well walk anywhere in the fields today. I heard robins, poor things but spring is definitely in the air.

Did some stairs and a bit of hooping. I have a couple of bruises that I actually think came from the weighted hoop. Weird!!!
Also saw this quote and thought I'd share it here:
"You can have results or excuses, but not both."
Ouch.

This morning did some toning, tonight I'll do some Zumba. This afternoon I am getting my exercise alright: I discovered that the basement freezer died ('How did you discover that?" you might ask. "Because of the peculiar smell," I would answer). OMG!!! Think dead fish and meat swimming in a couple inches of water/blood. I hauled out two huge garbage bags of rotting food, dipped the 'juice' out with a measuring cup into an ice cream pail, which I repeated emptied into the street, scrubbed out the freezer in vinegar, and now have all the windows open and the freezer soaking in more vinegar. I DON'T WANT TO GO BACK DOWN THERE!!!!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone!!
Geez, I don't check in for a few days and have pages to catch up on. Battled a cold Thursday and Friday, then we finally were able to get to the cabin this weekend for the first time in 8 weeks! Ran my first 5K of the season Saturday - a St. Patrick's Day 5K in Hagerstown (near the cabin). Runners had all kinds of green costumes. I still wasn't feeling 100% so had to walk a bit after a particularly nasty hill, but it was great fun.
Dulci - I got my hoop from a hooping instructor. She makes them, and I tried several in her class until I found a size and weight for me. Mine is on the large size and is weighted - she said those are easier for beginners to manage, and as I got better I might well want to move to a smaller lighter hoop. But so far my big weighted one is all I can manage.
Ruth - I saw a similar sign when running my half last year - at about the 10 mile mark someone had a sign that said, "Someday you will not be able to do this. Today is not that day." It really gave me a boost - having been through chemo when I got so weak I could barely walk from living room to kitchen, I well understood what that meant and was appreciative of how far I've come. And YUK on the broken freezer! And I bet it's cold with those windows open, but you didn't have much of a choice!
Nihahi - once again you post the most breathtaking pictures. Thank you so much for sharing.
Claire - great news about the nearby fruit/veggie stand - can't wait to hear all about your new recipes this summer!
Cheryl - oh, I feel for you coming home to that mess. We had a trash hound once like that - he'd been a stray so I guess he got used to foraging in trash cans. It was a horrible feeling opening the front door after work only to see trash everywhere. We ended up having to put one of those baby-proof cupboard latches under the sink cupboard to keep him away from the trash.
Badger - sounds like you're doing everything you can to make things homey for your mom. I bet she'll be very grateful for your thoughtfulness. Have a safe trip!Did the 5K run on Saturday, then we got in the first hike of the season Sunday - a quick 3 mile hike at Catoctin Mountain Park. Mikey hasn't been hiking for a while - he was totally zonked the rest of the day!
Eight inches of new SNOW this morning - yes, SNOW on ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!! (Yes, I'm shouting.) An hour of Shovel N Sculpt this morning. ARRRGGGHHHHHHH!
I need a good stiff Irish coffee!!

Nihahi beautiful gorgeous pictures. Maybe if I was looking at that I'd still appreciate snow but I'm looking at some dead grass and some piles of dirty icy snow and I can't wait for it to be gone. I'm really hoping even though its still below freezing much of the time that we won't see any more. Every year I have to remind myself that March is still winter.
Yesterday the only exercise I got was trudging through Target. Today I did walk though. Sweet, I have been suffering from unexplained fatigue. I don't know if it was being half sick and daylight savings time or what but it has kicked my butt!
