Got my 10k steps in yesterday and a bit more.  I've given up trying to make up for lack of steps last week, just going to start anew.  Today may be challenging as no walk at lunch, and showers in the forecast.  Though it is positively beautiful out there right now.  Maybe I'll just bring an umbrella and walk around the block tonight after work!

Claire - loved your post.  Read it twice.  Beautiful

No exercise for me just yet.  These damn blisters on my toes are no joke.  Can't even wear shoes yet.  Good thing it's been mild in NY past couple of days.

Today I will do upper body weights and possibly go to a new class KOGA (kickbox and yoga). The lady said it would be okay if I work out barefoot or in socks... we'll see how I feel later.

Happy Hump Day my active and inspirational friends! :)

Busy days this week, and just realized I never logged on to post my yoga yesterday, but I got it in, broken up into segments during the day. I'm NOT criticizing anyone's choice of activities, because it's what we do, not what we "call it", but I gotta say, trendy classes that advertise themselves as yoga hybrids leave me puzzled. One of the main "guidelines" of yoga is ahimsa, which means "do no harm". It is meant to be an awareness of not just how we act towards others, but also, how we respect ourselves and our bodies.

So...."KOGA"?????Loopy....But, Longisland....I also get the intention that it's likely a high energy class with some good stretching built in, and that sounds wonderful. Hope you find lots of liquid awesome!

pat01....Good for you with starting each day "anew" rather than trying to play catch up. I'd be about 18 years behind all the time, if I didn't leave yesterday in the past.

Yoga done, and I'm low energy today with lots to do and a late night this evening. Instead of a C25K day, it's going to be a walk in the lovely spring weather we've got. Take heart, those with not so nice forecasts....it's a long weekend coming up here in Canada....forecast....four days of rain.

Nice looking walkers Ruth. Great to have company!.Coyote is impressive to see in the wild, Clarie -- love country living but it has it's hazards.

Has been very changeable weather.  Ran out of time yesterday to run before kids games so did some yoga before bed and slept beautifully.  Walked at lunch today to retrace steps from kids games yesterday looking for my DD phone and found it -- thru soccer fields and baseball fields and lost and founds...)  It is beautiful day here so I am going to squeeze in a quick run after work.

    Love it, Onco!

I also like this one: I named my bike "50 Miles." That way I can say, "I rode 50 Miles today."

    Happy

Congratulations to all who have been in races/walks or just out there being active! I LOVE all the inspiring and beautiful pictures!

It's been a week since I last walked/jogged at the park. The Voices shouted, "Do it today!" So I did and feel much better. I have been busy (the biggest thing was hosting a Mother's Day cookout with dh's side of the family) but for me that's too long without some cardio work.

Speaking of dh, today is our 31st wedding anniversary! Not sure how you celebrate for 31, but we're going out for pizza. SillyHeart

Happy Anniversary Wonderland....hope you have the best pizza date ever!!!!!

I have a blister on my big toe from who knows where, so instead of a long walk, did a 20km bike ride today...it seems to have re-energized me...off to the theatre tonight. Have wonderful evenings everyone.

Mary and Odie - I LOVE power washing my siding!  It's a good upper body workout.  I'm fairly anal about it though.  no standing back 10 feet and rinsing the house.  I'm so up close and personal that it takes two swipes to do each 'row'!

Happy anniversary Wonderland!  DH and I hit 31 last August and I can't remember what we did to celebrate Loopy

Not much working out for me lately.  If I'm lucky I get in a walk but foot pain is still a problem.  This too shall pass, right?  Blech

    G'night all you wonderful women!

Happy Anniversary, Wonderland!  Love the new avatar pic.

Ruth, LOL at the thought of the cops buying me a beer!

Got out for an hour-long power walk after work last night, logged 3.7 miles.  New pedometer is holding up nicely.

Good morning ladies.  Slept in a bit today as Opera Night last night.  Tales of Hoffmann, and last one under Speight Jenkins.  What a wonderful way to go out.  Fabulous production and amazing singers. Speight took the stage at the end to thank all of us. He was greeting everyone as they came in at the beginning, which is what he normally would do. He has done an amazing job and I shall miss him.

Since I can no longer walk to the opera from my place, I drove in and left my car close to where I used to live.  Stopped in and chatted with all the staff.  I was so touched that Woody, the maintenance guy, missed me. Interesting that I really don't live in the 'hood any more.  Loved it, but it really was time for a new chapter in my life. I was right.  I couldn't do what I am doing now commuting from Seattle.

I did a waterfront walk down to the wine bar.  New sculpture going up in the Olympic Sculpture Garden.  A very phallic-shaped, very elongated head....and I challenged the crowd at the wine bar to come up with a clean-sounding descriptor.  I couldn't think of one, but the manager, Sarah, was on the same mental track as I was.  Champagne was on the $5 special, so that is what I had.  Treveri, which is what is served at the White House.  Still LOVE that view across the Puget Sound.

Then off via the bank to catch the Monorail up to Seattle Center and walk to the Opera.  And of course the 3/4 mile back to my car once it was over.  I think I did OK in the exercise department.

I need to go back for the tent, as traffic problems delivering yesterday with Post Alley torn up.  And what an excuse to return it!!!  But via bus, as certainly don't miss the commute.  The opera was just too late to do this.

I need to get back to work, and have cleaning out my car on the agenda for today.  It is waaaaaay overdue, and for once I don't have a bicycle in it.  So time to seize the moment.

Time for more tea and figuring out how to do a reply about an initiative we are working on.  Fortunately, I have been down this road before with some of my other work.  Good stuff.

See all you ladies later! - Claire

Ran 5K before work again this morning. It was in the low 50's with low humidity, much nicer than last time I ran. Will walk the dogs later.

Claire....you have an absolutely amazing life, and you "tell it" so well.

Yoga this morning and 5km "walk" before supper, part of which was C25k stuff.

Oncowarriour.....hope your aches get better soon.

Heavy rains expected here for the weekend too. Sure wish we could all send our rain to SoCal.....the news looks bad re: wildfires. Hope everyone down there stays safe.

LB wow a 4-a-day you go girl ThumbsUp Onco a mile backwards slowly probably felt like 10 miles, hope you heal soon. Claire last month I went to an operatic program put on by kids from a local Performing Arts High School it was absolutely amazing, stars of tomorrow have to come from somewhere and these kids were incredible.

Tonight did Body Jam class, oh my the group fitness room was like a sauna, kind of felt sick, they had big fans blowing but they were just pushing hot air around, hopefully the heat will break tomorrow.

LB, that must be a new record here!

I am still getting very cold fingers on my bike and we even had hail yesterday. Maybe the sun will finally be out this weekend. I found out that if I hang my nano on my waist so it touches my leg it will measure my pedalling as steps. Made 10,700+ "steps" yesterday. Plus I tried out a martial arts class with DD (without the nano). This is the second I've tried with her but she still can't make up her mind. The first was kickboxing two weeks ago and yesterday it was eskrima (with sticks). At least we are getting some exercise.

Heidi when a new person comes into a Combat class they always tell them it takes a few classes to 'get it', and as you're finding out there are so many different types of martial arts, oh but sticks sounds like fun.

Ann I know the fires are in your area, I really hope you are safe and didn't have to evacuate.

When I got to the YMCA, I found out my Insanity class was cancelled, so I went to the other class offered at that time.....Yoga.....quite the mental switch between those two extremes! It was a gorgeous morning, so I then went for a walk....here is where I walked & there are finally some signs of spring.

OK, I'm trying to change my avatar and not having any luck.  I deleted the current avatar, clicked on 'edit', selected my new avatar and clicked 'save'.  Instead of the new avatar displaying in my settings it says something like 'unfound'

    Help?

Thanks Heidi & Cheryl.  Cheryl  I read you staying cool at the gym and Heidi, gloves may help keep your fingers toasty.  Oncowarrior, you do NOT sound pathetic - be easy with you, ok?  Ruth, nice walk photo.  I'm pushing myself more in that the weather is decent ( for now, due to change next week)  and sort of developing a running season mindset, so sticking with it.  Running Race For Life 5k in Folkstone June 15th and July 13th, the British 10k London Run. This 10k route is in the heart of central London and passes by historic landmarks.

Power step and body balance this am.
