Dulci and Lilac - Yay for you both and love your run pics! I ran a 5K distance in DD's neighborhood before church this morning.  They told me the actual route of next week's 5K wouldn't be safe when it's not blocked off from traffic, so they helped me figure out another route, which involved running around three duck ponds and was really nice.

Just back home awhile ago and headed out to walk the dogs.

Congratulations LB, Dulci and Badger and LI you did phenomenal and so wear your battle scars proudly (and Epsom salts should be your best friend for the next few days) Claire your ride sounds amazing. Ruth I hereby give you permission to 'forget' the CDsHappy

Did Body Pump and Body Step this morning and this afternoon took a lovely long nap and I'm getting ready to go out for a massage courtesy of my neighbor who I helped yesterday so she is treating me today to say thank you.

Way to go Dulci, Badger, Lilacblue and Claire!!! You ladies are awesome!!!! LongIsland, great efforts on the hike. So sorry to hear you had such a rough time but am proud you did it. As someone here once said, better to try than staying on the couch. Love the pictures and think you all look great!

No formal exercise for me but plenty of physical activity/chores. I was able to put my garden in today, plus finish the second and final coat on the new bathroom and washed the siding on the front of the house.  I let hubby do the mowing....LOL

Will try to get a run and some toning exercises in tomorrow before my BS annual follow-up.

Long Island....it will get better.  Promise.  Good job doing the miles you completed!!!

Well...I can say that changing bicycles does squat for soreness in the nether areas.  But I did something like a 20 mile leisurely ride along a gravel path today.  Just gorgeous.  Stopped by a veggie stand on the way back and paid the earth for baby lettuce.  Looks splendid in my salad bowl.

Steak for dinner tonight as on sale for Mother's Day.  Cleaned up my dead flowers so fresh blooms in the house.  My mother would have been thrilled to have a steak dinner.  Got some fresh asparagus.  YUM!!!

Did not do enough work today so will be scrambling later this week.  I think OK, as perfect spring days are rare.

Found the mate of one of my serious socks!!!  Major breakthrough as given to me by a friend.  Good socks do not come cheap, so thrilled to have this pair again.

Off to my steak dinner! - Claire

Gosh, thank you, Cheryl. I will 'forget' to bring it then. Smile

Wow, longisland, that was quite the hike! Next year you will know 'what not to wear' in the shoe department. The hike people should probably go and re-measure the distance!

Claire, glad you found your serious sock. The 'life of socks' has always been a mystery to me. They seem to disappear and turn up on some hidden mission of their own!

Dulci, Badger (I thought of you when seeing the power walkers) and Claire well done on your weekend athletic acheivements. Longisland, you are amazing - my lesson today on how to dig deep and carry on through.  Ruth, you look adroable in the photo.  Thank you (((All))) for the kind, supportive comments of finishing the 10k (no where near a marathon) and I'm honored that a moderator has responded as well .  Truth be told, I'm actually 6,126 out of 10,000 HA (another lesson of being right sized)!  DH and I have recovered and it did feel insanely great to finish. Sun, with blue sky day start and hoping it stays that way.

Off to body balance and power step later tonight..oh and just may chuck in a run.Winking

Lilac and Dulci - what wonderful pictures - the happiness and look of triumph on both of your faces is inspiring.  Dulci, BTW a 35 minute 5K is fabulous - if I do a sub-40 I'm happy.  And Lilac - you did it!  So sorry the conditions were so miserable, but that just makes it extra sweet that you persevered.  And I'm impressed at your speed, given we're the same age. I finished my 10K a few weeks ago at 1:18, so 1:12 for me would be a dream time!   (Told you I was a slow runner.)  And Badger, congrats on your 5K.  Sounds like it was a great night to be out, and LOL on the running from the cops t-shirt!  Claire - great ride and a beautiful picture!

Long - 13 miles hiking in those conditions is great - no wonder you have blisters.  Hiking boots are definitely NOT made for pavement walking.  Just think of this weekend's hike as a trial run for next year.  Ruth - what a great picture.

Odie - when you're done washing the siding on your house, can you come over and do mine?  Happy

We were up at the cabin this weekend - lots of outdoor chores, including mowing, clearing out the gardens, etc.  I'm tired and sore today, but we got a lot done.  The hummingbirds are back up there - hooray!!  The only hummers we have are the ruby-throated ones, and we saw a male  hummer doing his display dance for a couple of females - his red throat flashed brilliantly whenever the sun hit it.  And we saw a Scarlet Tanager - I'll post the picture we took when I get it off the camera - what a spectacular bird he is.  No sign of bears - yet.  Shocked

Edited to add:  30 minutes yoga DVD this morning.  It felt great stretching out all those muscles after my Garden N Sculpt sessions this weekend.

This is a picture of my daughter who ran the Susan Komen 5k for Breast Cancer in Virginia on Saturday, and me on the right after the Hike for Life.  She had wanted me to go to the 5k with her, but when I found out about needing chemo I declined because I didn't know what kind of shape I'd be in.  Fortunately the Hike ended up falling on one of my good weeks so I was able to sign up for that.  I got us matching hats so we'd be together in spirit during our Hike/Run.  She and my future son-in-law named their team "Team Dragonfly" because dragonflies have become a spiritual connection for me.  Thank you everyone for your kind and encouraging words about the hike.  I am glad I did it even if it was a bit too challenging for me right now.

Ladies, loving all the happy photos and stories of your athletic accomplishments!  My active social life keeps getting in the way of me reaching my 10k steps daily :)  In the last week I've only managed to get there twice.  Back is improving, an occasional ibuprofen and waiting til I warm up in the morning before doing active things seems to be helping.  Another beautiful day here, so definitely a noontime walk, and if all goes well at work, I'm off to the gym later.

I'm re-committing to doing an hour of yoga every morning....my body is telling me that with the return to golf and running, it is something I need to do. so.....

    yoga done....off to golf.

Sunny here for the SECOND DAY IN A ROW!!!!! It's almost enough to bring on the happy dance!!! Oh heck, it IS enough!!!!

    Love all the pictures!

25 minute run this morning with lovely temp, blue sky and lots of birds singing. Now? Thunderstorms, "possible tornadic activity" and yuck. But the birds are still chirping!! Gotta love those birds. Singing whenever they have the chance. Smile

I love all the photos!  Also all the great stories about your runs and rides and other athletic adventures.  Wow so motivating to be part of this group.   Squeezed in some circuit training in between my kids bake sales on Saturday - they are fundraising for The Jimmy Fund to cure cancer.   We baked a lot, sold a lot and brought leftovers to mom's.  No exercise yesterday.  Got to get some in today -- a bike ride (at least I can put the bike between myself and any possible bears I meet).

Ran 5K in miserable heat and humidity after work tonight. My plan was to run tomorrow morning, but if the forecast holds we'll have severe thunderstorms in the morning. We do need the rain desperately. DH and I also walked the dogs a mile today also.

Got in Day 2, Week 3 of C25K done after supper. It's been a full day, and I've loved every minute of it! Even threw some housework in for good measure....Surely ironing hubby's dress shirts counts for something!

Sh'bam this morning and Spin tonight, but alas I did something I've never done before, I forgot my shoesShocked I just wear flip flops to the gym and when I looked in my bag dang  spin shoes weren't there so I set up my bike and ran home and I only missed the first 10 minutes of the class. It was 90 degrees here today, I hate to think what our summer is going to be like.

Happy to say I got in 12k steps yesterday!  Still trying to make up all the steps I missed over the last week, but it's a start.  Also worked on my arms, and made a couple more appointments with a trainer.  I've been inspired by all you 5k girls out there, so I actually did a little running on the treadmill yesterday.  A couple of years ago I got to about week 7 of C25K, and then did a few races, ok, I walked more than ran, but they were so much fun, and your pictures reminded me of how much I missed that.  Of course, a few minutes on the treadmill reminded me of how out of running shape I am, so I have my work cut out for me.  But I'm going to start slow and see how I do.  Thank you voices :)

Nihahi - what is this "iron" of which you speak?  Winking

Half hour run this morning - how can it be 70 degrees and crazy humid at 6:30am???  I was soaked by the time I finished.  Gonna be a brutal day again today - near 90 - and the a/c at work is nonfunctional for the second day in a row.  I work in a 60 year old school elementary school building which has been repurposed into a county office building.  The idea of repurposing old schools is great in theory, but not so great in practice.  Devil  Fortunately I have an eye doctor appt this afternoon so I can get out of this place after lunch.

Here's a picture we took of the Scarlet Tanager we saw this weekend.  They are breathtakingly beautiful birds - they even manage to make cardinals look a bit dowdy by comparison.

The voices made me do it........5 miles on the treadmill yesterday... ha ha Right after an uneventful annual visit with the breast surgeon.

Today I completed 30 minutes on the Elliptical plus some toning and weights before rounding out the exercise with some good Yoga stretching.

Getting ready to get some nasty storms so it looks like I will be cuddling up with my fur daughter tonight. Shocked

Oh, and Mary, if I were just a little closer, I wouldn't mind washing your siding.. I actually enjoy that chore.....LOL

5k run in tonight.  I did notice that there's nothing like seeing a large coyote in your path to put a bit of spring in your step.  I think the dude was after all those plump bunnies, but just the same.

Agree on the Scarlet Tanagers.  Gorgeous birds.  I think I saw a flock of snow geese nesting Saturday.  I know they are supposed to migrate northwards this time of year, but I swear that's what I saw.

Cooking dinner...halibut with asparagus, parsnip, and roast potatoes.  YUM.  I have the camping plans set for Saturday.  Although a vineyard is a dangerous spot for meHappy

Loving my new place.  Need to light candles, uncork the Viognier, and enjoy all this special time that is Spring.  Just glorious here and SUNNY!  Full moon too, which I saw rising as I finished up my run. - Claire

Yeah for uneventful Odie ThumbsUp Claire these are instructions from Fish & Game here in HB as we have a horrible coyote problem, you take a pot and bang it and yell 'go away coyote' and they will be scared away, yup that's what they told us to do, uckily we don't have a bear problem!!

Hot, hot, hot here, almost 9.30pm and no relief yuck...

Tonight did Boot Camp. Totally understand why I was always the last kid picked for games at school, it was endurance night, run across the gym back and  twice, then rest while next group went ... 15 times. Each time my group would be finished but I was still at the last turning point, the old tortoise but I finished in the end, a runner I am notLoopy

OncoWarrior, please edit your post to get working as I'd love to see your photo.  Good for you Odie and Cheryl running fast isn't everything (my new mantra) and keep cool in that heat.

I forgot to post last night so...yesterday started with body balance, and then a fake yoga class as my instructor flew to Miami on Sunday to lie on the beach and drink (her non-yogi words and oh to be 27 again!) for 3 weeks and the gym instructor who filled in is not qualified to teach yoga nor any yoga background really (pump, spin, combat is her forte).  She had notes and instructions that on-the-beach-with-a-umbrella-drink Lara left her.  It was ok'ish yet not like the night yoga class I attended at the pay as you go gym.  That was incredible and a new weekly class addition.

20 minute run before heavy machinery and construction crew arrived. Sad

(I wanted to go 30 today. Now I know that "can't start til 8a.m." really means "arrive at 7:30 and start at 7:50." Next time I'll go back to my 6:30 start time.)

Happy Wednesday. Get out there and make some liquid awesome!

Cardio DVD this morning.  Yin yoga tonight.  They got the AC fixed in our office building overnight- hooray - the temps hit 90+ inside the office yesterday - they finally shut down the building yesterday afternoon and let us move to other facilities or work from home.
