    You guys are all speedy!

Today I did a little toning with Richard Simmons, walked, and did a little work in the yard. I'm trying to restrain from planting annuals until after next weekend because my dad (who was a master gardener) always issued dire warning of planting flowers (in this part of the country) before Memorial Day.....I know he will haunt me if I try it!

*edited to add a p....I forgot that letter in my original post, so it read, "You guys are all seedy." Loopy

Ha ha, Ruth.  That's an error you better fix!  We bought annuals, herbs, and strawberries last weekend but I'm afraid to plant them yet after last week's cold spell and snow on May 16.  Sure wish we could send some of the rain and coolness we've had to those in need.

Ann, so sorry that you had to deal with being evacuated and worrying about fires when your father has just died.  At least you are in the comfort of your home now and I hope the danger is past.

Annie you look fabulous at that race.  I love the inspiring pictures.

Today was lovely weather after a week of yick so like Wonderland, I got my lawn mowed.  I was out there an hour and 20 minutes today because my assistant landscaper is down with a cold, so I had to do front and back!

Annielane, congrats on completing your first 5k. What a feeling of accomplishment, huh? Great photo of you and your daughter.

Nihahi, hope you were able to enjoy your long weekend.

I put my garden in on Mother's Day as only fools plant before then in our area. LOL... Exercise today was housecleaning, laundry and cleaning the pool. Stressful week coming up at work so if I can just make it to Friday at 5....

    Happy Monday ladies.

    AnnieLane, you look terrific!

Thank you for the comments everyone. I was not close to my father but it is still a loss of course. Otherwise life is back to normal. Just lots of black looking hillsides around here. Grateful that the lake and creekside areas did not burn. So much wildlife there (well, wildlife for So Cal. Lots of birds, lizards, and bunnies).

30 minutes of hooping tonight plus a short hike over a hill.

Ann so sorry for your loss, glad your home is safe and your shoulder is easing up. Annie fabulous picture and congratulations what an achievement. LB my runner gym friends ran the Bay to Breakers today in San Francisco, apparently is a crazy crazy run and oh my, they kept texting me pictures of naked men running Shocked Ruth it's been a long time since you've hung out with Richard. Did Body Pump this morning but I pulled a muscle in my back yesterday so I've been doing a lot of icing today, grrrrrr.

Ann, so sorry to hear about the loss of your father, but so glad to hear your home was OK.

Annielane - great photo!  The first of many races I'm sure.

Still making my 10k steps, with the exception of Friday, an extremely busy and long day at work (11 hours), so by the time I got home all I wanted was a cocktail!  Beautiful weekend here, did lots of outside chores.  Another beautiful day here, but hoping to get a much needed pedicure at lunch, so walking will need to wait until after work.

Ann - what a rough week.  So glad your home is OK.  Annie - great picture!  We knew you'd rock that 5K!

Up at the cabin all weekend - ran a 5K race Saturday morning - Paws on the Pavement - to benefit the local humane society up there.  Lots of people running with their dogs so that was fun!  We didn't take Mikey this year - we took him a few years ago, and didn't get much running in as he had to stop and sniff everything, then at about the 2 mile mark he got tired and went on strike and wouldn't move, so we had to carry him.  So he got to stay at the cabin and sleep in while DH and I got out first thing to head to the race.  I ran it in 37:18 for a 12:03 minute mile pace - sooooooo close to breaking the 12 minute mark, but not quite there yet.  Maybe next time. I was 12/22 in my age group (dogs slowed down a lot of the other runners, I think  Winking).  Spent the rest of the weekend clearing gardens and digging out rocks.  It was a great workout but I'm sore and tired today.  Did a yoga DVD this morning to help stretch things out.

Got up and was at the gym about 5:45am for the first time in a long while.  Still having plantar fasciitis issues so I did 30 minutes on a recumbent bike for a change, some circuit weight machines for lower body because I have 3 more weeks of no targeted upper body workouts (hated the machines - I miss my intense group class!), then stretching.   It's a good little start after two months away but I'm still impatient to do more.  Just gotta get rid of the foot problem!

sweet.....are you taping your foot? PF can be such a bugger to sort out Sad.

cool and damp here this morning, but at least things are greening up nicely. 30 of yoga done, heading out for a run, then another 30 of yoga to stretch everything out.

oncowarrior....that sounds like a lovely day to me!

A big guffaw from me OncoW reading of your "Presidential work-out" and  ninety minutes of tai chi and painting class - beautiful and very mindful. I wondered how paws went Mary and good to see checking in. Can't imagine running with our dog - that would be scary. S&S it's hard to hold back and I hear ya on the machines, easy does it as some circles (w/triangles) say.

    Body balance this afternoon.

I'm feeling pretty worn/flat from a long morning of domestic goddess duties that included washing the kitchen floor.  I'm foregoing my usual Monday night step at gym#2 to give some easy does it time for me too and try to make some headway in reading; Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant by Anne Tyler.

nihahi - hadn't thought of taping.  I'll check YouTube for a demo.   PCP recommended simple calf stretches and ibuprofen so I'm willing to try an additional possibility.  Thanks!

gosh sweet, wish I'd thought to mention it sooner! I bet you find it makes a big difference for you.

Run done, dodging the worms on the sidewalk and pathways, yoga next, then....hmm...laundry, housework, yucko. I want to be rich and have a maid!

It can be a real drag lots of times just because there aren't enough hours in a day but doing laundry, housework, baking/cooking, etc somehow soothes my soul and satisfies the 'Susie homemaker' part of my personality.......how old-fashioned is that!!!

    Hi Everybody!

Good news - 2 mos. post chemo and my exercise ability is really returning.  I am far from where I was but the chemo heaviness seems to be leaving.

Bad news - Infection after my exchange surgery and it looks like I'll have to start my reconstruction all over thus adding another 3 mos. to my sentence and slowing my overall physical improvement.

Tamoxifen update - A few weeks into it and I don't seem to have any new side effects.

Sooner or later I will be back to my old self and able to post better progress reports.

I hope everyone is well.  :)

Warrior...boo on the infection. That is maddening, for sure!!

Oh Mary, I have a visual of Mikey lying on the couch, chewing on a bone, taking a nice little nap, while you are out sweating and panting away on the trail......Happy

I ran around doing tons of errands today & went to Zumba tonight.

Nat I guess you need a rug to 5k program for your dog.

I'm trying to imagine lilacs painting and tai chi class?  Paint brush in each hand creating modern art while you exercise?

Warrior so sorry about the infection.   They are not fun. I landed in the hospital post surgery myself.

Went to the grocery store and walked the dog but had to cut it short for rain drops. Here we go again.

Cheryl, hope the back feels better today. Warrior, boo on the infection. Hopefully just a speed bump on the road to recovery.

Ran a couple miles after work today plus some lunges and squats. Not as much as I would prefer but just really busy at work so time is limited.

    Sweet dreams sculpted sisters......

warrior.....el crappo about the infection. Hope it clears quickly and you can get back on track. Those unexpected and totally un"wanted" detours can be tough to handle. Hang in there.

Just got home from a birthday supper for daughter.....omg......I am so full it is almost painful. I think I'll be eating nothing but celery sticks tomorrow!!!!

Thanks Odie much better today ice and stretching worked wonders. WW I'm sorry about the infection. Poor Mikey having to stay home but the tree sniffing, leg lifting really does slow a runner down, still I'm sure he did a good job at home keeping the bears at bay.

This morning did Sh'bam class, we had a sub as our regular instructor is in New York training more trainers. Tonight did the wonderful Eduardo's class, the class is called 'sweat' and boy did I, it was kind of boot camp like but he calls it training and says it's different every week.

Skipped the pedicure and walked at lunch yesterday, which was lovely.  It is still very nippy here in the mornings, so I'm wearing socks anyway.  Have my MO appt this afternoon.  Considering talking to him about going off of anastrazole, I'm just always so achy on it.  Of course, perhaps at my age I would be achy off of it too - so hard to say.

Got my 10k steps in yestarday, plus some run/walk intervals and upper body weights at the gym.

WW - so sorry about the infection.  Sometimes it seems like it's two steps forward, one step back in this process.  Pat - when my s/e got really bad on femara, my onc gave me permission to take a one-month "vacation".  It really helped.  The effects began to ease in a week or 10 days after I stopped taking it, and the good news is that even when I started up again at the end of the month, it took a few months for the s/e to kick in again.  I ended up taking 3 one-month "vacations" during my 5 years, and I don't know if I could have made it the full 5 years without those breaks.  Obviously it's best if you can stay on it without a break, but I think taking a one-month break now and then is better than going off it completely.  You may want to ask your onc about that.  My onc actually had DCIS and did her 5 years on Tamox, so she really understood the QOL issues involved.  She admitted that she herself had taken a few one-month breaks when the s/e got too bad, and that she would have never gotten through her 5 years without those breaks.  That made me feel better.

30 minute run - a 3 bunny day, plus I was dive-bombed by a mockingbird which was sort of exciting.  I guess I got too near their nest!

Have been reading everything to catch up.  I had quite the weekend away and the most fabulous time.  Slow start which included wiping down the inside of my car and then the car wash, so was clean for at least a few hours.  Way overdue.  Then off to Yakima and my adventure.

First off, was seeing the Wells Fargo Wagon.  I mean really.  This huge truck painted in WF colors which contained HORSES!  So they must still maintain a huge team of them.  I had no idea.

I cycled along the Yakima river Greenway.  This is interested as was built using monies donated by the Fruit and Produce growers, and just the most gorgeous wetlands.  I saw one guy with half a dozen shiny trout. Others were jealous, I am sure. There what looked like fields of yellow irises. And the most amazing sweet scent of late spring.

Then off to the vineyard where the tasting room is in a 1880 farmhouse, including a huge porch. I had the most perfect moment sitting on the porch swing, drinking Pinot Grigio, taking in the flowers (clematis, lavender, various shrubs) with a grey cat snoozing beneath. Naches Heights is a very special and mystical place, and I was surrounded by all this splendor.

I had dinner in town, and pitched my friend Sarah's tent on the vineyard lawn. (Still need to download pix.)  Fortunately, I brought warm clothes and bed clothes so was toasty.

The ride itself was splendid.  Perfect weather, and I finished just prior to the hail storm moving in. I saw eagles soaring in the canyon, and then an eagle's nest.  What a thrill.  There was a winery along the canyon, so stopped in for a tasting on the way back.  Fortunately, I have panniers so bought a couple of bottles.   I also saw a rattlesnake on the road, so made a wide swerve (and warned those behind me). I missed the Big Horn sheep, but some other year.  The trip is 17 miles uphill, and then a wonderful fun coast back (other than a brief section).  There is one really serious hill, and I was able to easily do it this year.  I walked it last time.

Watched the storms dance along the mountains and hills as I drove home.  I saw one other white cloud in the midst of all the dark grey clouds so someone else got hail too.

Yesterday was a long work day and followed by a run. I am getting better running too.  Not about to try to "Beat the Bridge", but better.  Back to work....long day ahead.  With glorious sunshine! - Claire

30 min. of yoga this morning, then off for a busy day. Hope to do something more aerobic after "work" and before my meeting tonight.

Have great days ladies....the sun is shining here!

Mary - Dive-bombed by mockingbird -- I'm sure it was surprising.  Finished regular Rads just got 4 boosts left -- oh so ready to be done.   Been feeling a bit stronger overall so that's good but I'm giving in to the exhaustion too and resting/napping when needed.    Went further on the bike -- 11 miles on Sunday.   Had a nice long (for me) run yesterday after work - my 4.5 miles and left great.  Did some yoga to relax afterwards and slept great.    Going swimming later.   Watching my skin turn bright red and dealing with tightness but stretching and working it anyways.
