Oh Cheryl - so sorry you're under the weather.  And no oven.  And to top it off, no cookies in the house!!!  If I were there I'd rush some over to you.  Hope you feel better soon.  Odie - I thought you might be intrigued by the cabin - we have a small one - only 1100 square feet, but it's 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, and with the windows and vaulted ceilings, it feels so much larger. As you can tell, we love it.  Ruth - we'd love to see you and meet your dh! Spring is DC's season - it's a beautiful city all year long, but spring is when we really shine. Red - you're welcome to come visit anytime, even without Ruth's suitcase!  Teacher - you sound so much stronger - you've really put in the work these last few months.  Lyzzy - hope the heartburn is doing better! LB - with all your yoga, you must be so limber!  I've slacked off yoga these last few weeks since the running clinic has been taking so much energy, and I can tell the difference.  The clinic has been great, but it's over in a week and I'll be ready to back down a bit on the running so I have enough energy to get back to other exercise.

4.5 mile run home from work last night.  I was running through the park and enjoying the sound of my feet swishing through the fallen leaves.  Had to watch out for fallen acorns and black walnuts that were all over the path - slip on one of those and you can go down hard!  Fortunately I made it home safely.

Cheryl, you better try my mom's cure being under the weather: 7 Up and chicken noodle soup (which I suppose you could heat in a kettle)......it is so boring to feel yucky, isn't it?!

Mary, we will seriously try to put something together. If we waited until April, we could celebrate Baseball as well as History! Love your cabin plan. It doesn't look too little to me!

Today I will go to yoga, either walk or clean the house & then back to school for another afternoon of math (the teacher has a two afternoon workshop). When people ask how I like being retired, I think...hmmmm, if they mean you just sit around staring at a wall, then I don't think that I will ever be retired (or want to be!).

Lovelikecrazy,  welcome and years ago, I had the bm running problem and somehow it changed.  Here is a link that discusses the running pooping problem and possible solutions. Mary, your running times must be better and have you dome a long run without walking?  I'm limber, and my 21' diep hip-to-hip scar has really changed (less red, and fading fast) as a result.  I'm a seasonal runner and with so much strong wind and rain here,  I try to run at least once a week and more if weather allows - cold but not rain and stiff wind.  Getting to the gym(s) and village hall classes save me during winter.  Cheryl, take good care and I'd pop by with my special homemade chicken soup if I could.

Freestyle step with hand weights and body balance at the gym this morning.

    Good call Ruth!

LLC, years ago I had the same problem. For my training runs, I'd just make sure I stayed near the house for the first mile or two in case I needed a pit stop, or make sure my route took me by a friendly gas station or Starbucks early on. On race day, just make sure you get in line for the porta potty as soon as you get to the starting area. Usually the adrenaline moves things along.

I made it out for a run this morning but have been in bed or the bathroom ever since. Nausea and diarrhea are kicking my butt today.

Mary I love the cabin so much I went to their website.  Somehow I ended up on the Bahamas, Carribean tab!  Daydreaming.

Red, tell your trainer you need a post-cancer methodology, not Jillian Michaels.  My trainer was a two time breast cancer survivor.  Her motto was "no pain, no strain".  I never hurt and yet I made good progress.

It is truly a beautiful day here.  It is 65, sunny and the fall colors are still just gorgeous.  I walked for 40 minutes this evening.  Every good day I think it could be our last but I think it is supposed to be 70 tomorrow.  The only downside is my allergies and sinuses have been a mess for two months.  The chicken soup and 7 up sounds really good right now.  I chose to try to ameliorate mine with a pumpkin pecan mixer from Culvers!  Happy

10/24- back to the gym today post travels and with the personal trainer. We talked about my eating and work outs while I was on the road, which was helpful. I wanted to do a walk this evening but my feet seem a bit sore from my travel the other day so I am giving them a break and hopefully tomorrow things will be better.

Aurora- is the weather better yet in Mexico?

Oh Cheryl, I am so sorry you aren't feeling well. Too sick to indulge in Halloween candy?? That's serious. Sending you healing thoughts and virtual chicken noodle soup.

Mary, the size of your cabin sounds perfect. After all, who wants to clean all the extra space? I would rather be outside enjoying the nature trails etc...

Twohobbies, I also looked at the Caribbean tab. Funny that they ship them there.

Red, I second the thought that you are too nice...LOL Sounds like you just need to honestly explain to your trainer what you want to accomplish and expect from her.

LAROCK, hope you feel better soon too.

No exercise for me today as work was just too busy. Will be putting in some overtime tomorrow but hope to get out for a run too. I have obtained the race route for my Thanksgiving 5k and hope to take a test run of the course.

I could spend a lot of time on that Caribbean tab too!!!  Happy Ruth - I absolutely second that decision to walk instead of cleaning the house!  LB - my running times seem better, but our 10K target race is next week so I'll let you know then for sure.  I was able to do last week's 8 miles without walking so that's a definite plus.  I've also learned how to do intervals and picked up other running tips, and my legs feel stronger, so the running clinic has been really good for me.

Signed up for a 5K Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving and a "Jingle All the Way" 5K in DC in December, so I've got some runs to look forward to after next weekend when our clinic ends.  Odie (and anyone else in the DC area) - any chance you might join us at the Jingle All the Way?  It's December 7th and lots of fun running in DC.    It's usually an 8K, but due to road construction in DC,  it's only a 5K this year.  People dress up in all kinds of holiday stuff - reindeer, Santas, elves, dreidels, etc.  You get so distracted watching the other runners that the race just flies by.   Last time we ran it there was even a runner with a tuba, and he carried that thing playing holiday songs for the entire race.  My goal was to at least beat the guy with the tuba - and I did!

This morning, our running group did a practice run of our 10K course for next weekend's race.  I've not done this race before, so it was great checking it out ahead of time.  And the coaches gave us tips for each section of the run, so I feel like I'm going into the race armed with some good strategies.  There are a lot of hills Bawling but at least every uphill means that we get to run down that same hill.    I wore my Sculpted Sisters shirt today and got lots of compliments on it. Beautiful day here today - resting up after the run, and will do outdoor chores later today.

hi all and welcome lovelikecrazy.  Cheryl, hope today finds you feeling a bit better and with power in the house.  I'd love to send you some cookies, we had a bake sale for charity at work this week and I baked like a fiend.  Made zucchini bread, dark choc brownies with walnuts, snickerdoodles, and blueberry cheesecake mini-TARTS.  Everything sold and we made $300 but I had kept back some of the cookies and they stared at me until I took them to work and put them out for general consumption to get them outta my house!!

Mary, what a pretty octagon cabin.  I've stayed at one (Marybe's uncle's place on Table Rock Lake in the Ozarks) and it was very spacious with lots of natural light from all the windows.

Picture-perfect morning so I got out and walked for an hour. ♥

Another gorgeous day here.  I walked 44 minutes around the lake, then came home and walked the dog 25, and then I got on my bike and went for a 15 minute bike ride because I just could not stay indoors.

NatsFan, I love the idea of a Thanksgiving Turkey Trot. I may have to find one and sign up as motivation! Running in DC in the fall is the greatest. I ran the Marine Corp marathon there in 2008.

I'm feeling much better today. Thanks for all your well wishes. Got in another short 2 mile run this morning and did some core work. Also took DD to the mall so I'm sure I got in another mile or so there!

LARock, glad you're feeling better.  TH I couldn't stay indoors today either.  Sat in the backyard and read for a while in the sun.  Then walked to the library & market.  Posting 6 miles for the day.

LA - congrats on doing the MCM!  This year's MCM is actually taking place this morning, so there's lots of local coverage. DH's running coach for the clinic is a 2 year b/c survivor and is running it, so we've been following her online - she's just about to hit 10 miles.  If I ever get the courage to do a marathon, that's the one I'll go for.  And yep, running in DC is great - not only for the beauty of the monuments and the sense of history, but because it's FLAT!!!!! HappyGinger - beautiful pictures!  Thanks so much for sharing.  Having a view like that makes it almost worth getting up that early!  Winking

After the practice 10K yesterday morning I did a lot of chores, then we walked a couple of miles to our favorite Mexican restaurant for an early dinner.  I did a few chores after that, then checked my Fuelband and realized I had just over 27,000 steps!  So of course I had to march around the house long enough to get to 30,000.  It was an all time record for me in the 16 months I've had my Fuelband!  More chores on tap today - we're also having beautiful weather so it's a pleasure to be outside.

My exercise the last few days has been marathon shopping with my DD who needed a dress for a bday party Friday night and cleaning for my company yesterday.  We had a nice time at my husband's 30th HS reunion last night.   Company is gone now and I hope to get back on the treadmill tomorrow!  I have to spend the rest of today finishing a book I need to read for work on Tuesday.  Hope everyone is having an enjoyable Sunday!

Hi All. Just a quick note. We had a beautiful weekend. Yesterday I parked cars for 6 hours during a HUGE festival my town has in the fall. Over 180,00 people attended and it's a great day for local churches and organizations to make money.

Walked/ran this afternoon. The late afternoon sun on the fall trees is breathtaking!

Gorgeous day here too.  Walked my 2.5 mile route.  Raked some leaves but the rest will wait until DH cleans out the eaves troughs (gutters).  That always makes a mess and then he rakes it all up.  Pleased to see the squirrels haven't dug up those daffodil bulbs I planted last weekend.  Hope everyone has a great week ahead! ♥

Mary, I may join you for the Jingle Run ..... Looks fun.   Running and playing the tuba? That guy was skilled. And here I just try to breathe....LOL.  Any attire suggestions for cold weather runs? Hoping the Thanksgiving morning run is not too chilly as I am a novice at this stuff. Do fine in my climate controlled gym...

Thank you for the beautiful sunrise photos Ginger. Hate to admit that I am not a morning person so I rely on others for such pictures.

No formal exercise this weekend however the gorgeous weather prompted some serious Fall cleaning. Lots of scrubbing and laundry plus some outdoor chores.

Happy Sunday evening all. Still thinking of you Cheryl and hoping you feel better soon.

Hi all.  Wow, haven't been on for almost a month.   Laptop in in my 'office' which I don't visit often (here now for a few minutes).  I don't care to do much  on my tablet.  But, WARNING, ruthbru will get you.  Can't hide for nothing!!!!!  Maybe I'll try and steal a few minutes during the day at work to check in.

Have been moving a little but reinstated my gym membership so will resume water aerobics and maybe try spin and zumba again.

    Night my sculpted friends.

I really, truly did not have time to exercise today, but will be back at it tomorrow.
