Patty, just keep the hope going. My response to getting bad news has always been either get a bottle or go out to dinner. Tonight the plan is dinner and a bottle. LOL I have finally learned the trick to safely doing a bottle. DON"T get the big bottle. Just a small one. Now I would gladly do a joint b/c much less damaging and I never do it to excess. But not legal here. Oddly relaxed about the news that I will be spending the next couple of months working this new problem with unknown end. Hells bells the last problem isn't even finished. But knew it was coming--premonition.

Had a premonition one time about a car accident. Very nicely relaxed after the accident finely occurred. It was over. The same thing. Got a new car in that scenario. LOL The flaw in the analogy is, I don't get a new body.

    Mags Hootie Hoo GO GIRL

  • SAS. - j hear ya. My state will probably be one the last to approve mj If it wasn't illegal I def would rather roll a joint. Much less side effects!! But no my county chooses to not even sell alcohol so can't see selling mj anytime soon. I like your attitude SAS.

Spookie - My rattie has done that. Never put coffee down low only on coffee table where dog can't reach. (and even then who knows what she might do) There is a calming spray - I think spray - from Petsmart. I'm pretty sure I did not mail order this, I just passed by it in the store and bought it. Also evidently drops. I had some for the goats but never used it. Only thing is if dog has any allergies I guess I would be careful. Not cheap but maybe worth a try. Has vet ever tried any anti-anxiety meds? I know there are several kinds at Petsmart, Petco. Dog doesn't really need it but I thought I might use it for goats when I long ago disbudded them. Matter of fact dog is so allergic would be afraid to try with her even if she needed it. I think this was a big thing on some holistic goat sites why I bought it.

Yay Mags for fat necrosis. Sounds funny to say that. Onward to rads. Except for the daily grind getting there/back rads are a cinch compared to what you've been thru.

Patty - I can't see and can't hear. Maybe you just need the next step up readers. Near vision accommodation is what goes in "old age". Yes, I agree, old age seems to get younger and younger. Yes, Patty your state and mine. I don't see legal MJ anytime soon. My county just went county wide alcohol (beer/wine) about 4-5 years ago. Private club mixed drinks. What part of AR do you live?

Not much happening here. Haircut yesterday. Waiting for rain, glorious rain to arrive. DB and SIL headed south to Waco tonight just where severe weather might be. Hoping all we get is rain. Must remember to lock Mr. Bucky in his pen tonight. Still has one large, very large, dead branch over his back fence. Wish that thing would just give up and fall. Cannot afford Mr. Tree Man to come out. That would have to be reserved for something to do with the house. His fence we'll just straighten out and prop back up.

Patty and Sassy too funny. I would love to trade this body in for something else... bones with cancer, the joints are gone, can't see a thing without my glasses, can't hear without my hearing aides, slow going bum knee! OY! Wouldn't it be fine if we could go for a body exchange! I always wanted to recycle myself and be an organ donor and I can't even do that! Lovemy goats I guess you are in the same boat. Well except for the rain... it hasn't stopped and we may need a house boat.

Sleep over for my daughter tonight... got the eats. Now to pick them up at 2 and head over for a manicure at the beauty school.. good for 7th graders.WinkingHave a nice weekend.

Great news Magdalene on the B9 results.

Omg some of you are getting such cold weather. Just looking at your pics makes me so cold. We are colder here, but we are spoiled. Even when its cold the temps are in the 70's during the day. The strong winds are dangerous and create many fires here, especially because we are in a drought.

    Thinking about you Blondie.

    Love your red chairs Chevy.

I officially started Christmas shopping early this morning, after attending grandparents day at the local elementary school.

Holeinone, the turkey pick up line was hilarious.

Time to cook dinner. Have a nice weekend. Hugs to all.

Morning gals... Meow... Your Mom could always cook the Turkey anytime, and then cut it up, and maybe freeze some or all of it, then thaw it out the day before?

I bought ours yesterday too, but just stuck it out in the garage in the cooler, where it will probably stay frozen until JUNE!

It's 33 degrees out now, but supposed to get a lot colder, especially nights and mornings. I'll bring it in maybe Monday, to thaw out with a towel over it, in a cool place. I have to cook the giblets Wednesday, for the dressing. I bought 4 fryer leg quarters, and will put 2 in the dressing also.

JWOW? Glad you are safe... These things happen everywhere.... just thankful you are alright.

222222222nd! I sent that owl to my DD's... Ha! That's ME! I'm trying to not be PO'd at DH, just because getting him to go WITH me to buy another car is like asking him to drive me to the moon! I woke up at 3, thinking about this dilemma, and couldn't sleep anymore.

He is just not interested, and has 5 hundred excuses to leave things the way they are...

Never mind that I've said I wanted one 8 1/2 months ago, when it hurt too much to use the clutch with my left leg! I had to lift my leg to put it on the clutch... PITA!!!

So I started talking about getting another car...an automatic.... A used one... but at least something better, and newer, and one withOUT a damn clutch, and one where I didn't have to "hear" the motor to know when to shift, because I CAN'T hear the damn motor! And one with automatic locks, and one without all the dings in the windshield! And one that plays CD's and not Tapes.... (Well at least they aren't 8 track!)

And he says, "okay, well maybe someday, like next Spring, or maybe when squirrels fly, or the weather is about 90 or when we really NEED one."

Meaning ain't no way in hell I am going to be dragged to no car-lot just to buy another car when that one is still running.

So NOW, the clutch is going out! PTL!!! Thank DOG! Now my whining has paid off! The car barely moves in 1st gear... I get it into 2nd, and we just putter along... ONCE we get through all 4 gears, hopefully we are at least CLOSE to the speed limit.

It is a 99' Chevy Prizm, in pretty good shape, all except the clutch! And it will cost $1,100 to replace it... Ain't gonna happen. I'll trade it in the week after next... either he goes WITH me, or not. My DD will go also... I mean it's no big DEAL! I have the money! I have the TIME! And I have the courage to do it alone, if I have to!

I can't stay mad at him.... although I HAVE come close... He just would not like to hear about it... even when he is WITH me, and I am trying to drive... He says "give it more gas".... I say Honey, can you HEAR that? I AM giving it more gas, it just doesn't MOVE! "Try putting the clutch in again, and see what happens".... "Try pulling out in 2nd gear"

THIS is when I SHOULD just get the hell out of the car, walk around to the passenger side, and say, NO.... YOU DO IT!

I just feel bad because he doesn't have the "drive" like he used to... and nothing excites him... (I know you find that hard to understand, with me by his side) BUT he is just losing interest, or slowing down, or something.

I could do this alone, but I want him to be part of it... to put his name on it too... but not drive it... Ha! Just like THIS car... I bought it, but I don't like the way he drives, so he only did when I couldn't... He's only 77, but if I don't feel "old" then he shouldn't either. And blah-blah....

    Good Morning Ladies.

Sas U are going thru another thing now, o brother u have a great attitude. Oh I love thos cake plates when people come over and u bring this beautiful piece out and makes dessert look even better.

JWow so so glad u weren't even close to that. Sometimes things are scary everywhere. But we all have enjoyed u'r vacation and thanks for sharing

Patty I'm sorry u'r feeling so old, but things wil get better--little by little then u'll be out in the alley looking for good bargains like some older people. No names mentioned for legal purposes/

Blondie I hope u'r doing OK.

MAGS YAHOO B9 is such a nice word to hear.

I've been on this computer for hours yesterday, but I did do some shopping, but I do have to look for the free shipping and %'s off so it takes forever just to get a few things--I did get a couple of presents but bought stuff I really needed too--I was so tired of looking at this thing but I did finish
Most of the day I thought it was Saturday--Brain screw missing. Just to give u an idea of how awful my work can be---A lady called and I was very nice and started giving me her info. so she said her name and I repeated it and said Ava and she said loudly no Susan?? Now the last name was a wreck and I put down, I swear I heard this Londirvandanvandyke. And I sent the email, but I did say that last name might be wrong but her first name is right. See why I think I should be fired at any time.

    OK see u latr

Oh you're UP? Stay off the phone little Cammi.... "they" are going to arrest you... I'm feafful of that.

Yes, I like to shop on-line too! I ordered us a new area rug from Domestications... AND free shipping! We couldn't manage something big like that anyway!

By the way.... I LOVE that name you called "her".... What was it? Londenvikeerdoogle? Bet she loves how you spelled it... It's okay.... Made-up names are better than our own anyway.... And you say the last name "might" be wrong? Who are we kidding here? She's probably coming to get you. I'll loan you my hearing aids if it would help any, but I don't think they would... My expertise into your situation has expired...

I'm going out in the alley now... soon's it gets light.

Camilegal- I laughed at your post and the incredible last name, too funny. Before I finally got some hearing aides that worked (Costco 1/2 off the other audiologists) I would sit with a puzzled look when watching TV or listening.. My DH would plead, "please tell me what you heard!" Then he would just crack up... usually what I deciphered was off the wall. It is horrible on the phone. Especially cell phones. Txt is easier; I can see it. That was one of the reasons I quit work, too hard to hear in a noisy hospital setting, too easy to make mistakes.

Patty-Sleep over went fine. The girls are HOH and deaf so there can be giggling but mostly it's fingers flying and signing which makes no noise! Of course they bang when up, walk loudly. Sometimes my daughter has been known to leave the water running and go back to bed after using the toilet and washing her hands. I tell her to check 2 times that the faucet is off. KIDS! They are scarfing waffles and bacon, oranges and bananas. The kids loved the manicure. Life is good.

My cat spazzed and sent 1/2 a cup of coffee all over my face and robe. Good thing it wasn't super hot.. DH cracked up...I had coffee on my glasses even. ugh. cats.. she's known for bumping the bttom of the cup to get attention... this was a spazz attack. stupid cat.

Chevy get an automatic! Get something comfy, just don't get a keyless push to start car. They are so silent you forget the dang thing is on. pictures when you get it.

Morning to all. Stay warm and dry.

Sassy, I love all the glassware pics, I have been a collector but I had to stop because I have no more room. A big china cabinet and two curios are packed to overflowing and DH won't let me have any more. There's no more floor space for another, anyway. I have a set of stemware that my mom brought back from Japan in 1957, with etched bamboo; a set of stemware that was DH's grandmother's, with platinum edging, and six stemmed water glasses that were my grandmother's. The carnival glass is all my collection. There is something my mother called a spoon dish that looks like a banana split dish to me, but she said her grandmother kept it on the table with spoons in it so there would always be a spoon handy for coffee. Anyway, I have a couple of pics you might enjoy.

    image

I also have a bunch of saki sets and Japanese tea cups and rice bowls my mom collected when we lived there (1955-57, when it was Occupied Japan).

Chevy - Seeing that TV is loaded with car ads I would think plenty of people are trading in cars now and a good selection of used cars. Of course there's always a new car and I do think this is the best time of year for that. Esp. if the weather is chitty they might be willing to deal just to make Christmas money. Hit DH with that one.

Amen Sister You Got That Right - THIS is when I SHOULD just get the hell out of the car, walk around to the passenger side, and say, NO.... YOU DO IT!

Yuppers. Stop a block or so from home. Then arrange to have DD just behind you to whisk you away.

    Love all the glassware.

Patty - no I've not gotten anywhere to look for a heated throw. Major shopping trip on Monday and it's sure on my list.

I know Spookie..... not yet.... We will get car the week after Thanksgiving... I think "He" is getting used to the fact, that I'm going to do it whether he wants to or not, so he might as well go along with me.... Did I mention stubborn? Bull-headed? But he DID help me lay the new area carpet down!

I just love it! I ordered it.... without even asking....(horrors!) And he saw FedEx out front, and then saw the guy bringing the carpet up to the house, so I was glad he was here! Helped me clean and roll the other one up, and lay this one down... AND I needed him to help me move the table and chairs... Sometimes a girl just HAS to do what a girl's gotta do!

Now I just have to "tape" it down a bit, so he doesn't stumble....

Yes, I'll take pictures of my "new" car.... Ha! I would like something like a Chevy Cruz, or a Toyota something.... About a 2012, automatic, and no, Rosie... I don't want those keyless things.... Ha, ha! If YOU couldn't hear it, you know I COULDN'T either...! I would really like a red something.... or else black.... or just ANY thing at this point!

Love all the glass-ware girls! I have the ones you gave me Sassy, and some of my Mom's! My blue fairy-lite is in the kitchen window, with a sweet-potato trying to sprout, and a cutting off of my phylodendrum! By the way.... Where IS Phyllilostinspace?

Mags you have beautiful things beautiful :) I love glass b/c it's just so versatile. Timeless. I can speak to the spoon dish without seeing it. It could be for spoons or it could be a banana split dish. The Victorians were mad crazy to have a 'proper dish for each thing served. It carried over for decades. Then into the sixties things changed. May have been cost. May have been space. Things did change with the advent of the barbecue after WWII.

Americans in the 70's for sure started eating less formally. Fast forward till today, my local Macy's downgraded their whole fine china, crystal, silverware section. I was aghast. When I inquired the person said "No one's buying it". They substituted luggage, b/c it was their biggest seller. UGH!

The typical spoon dish started with the Victorians, It was called a 'Spooner'. It was upright. It was left on the table with teaspoons . The spoons were typical silver or silverplate. The more financially comfortable, they were silver. The covered sugar was also left on the table too. This link is to a page that has 'spooner' in a nice group. At one point I collected three 'Moon & Stars' spooners to use for buffet for forks, knives, and spoons. In a moment of wishing to get a niece- in-law interested in old stuff & glass, I gave her one and said I'd just EBAY for another one--OOPs. I went through the cupboards and gave her oodles of stuff. Her DH paid for shipping back to Memphis. It was great fun.

    http://patternglass.com/Store/Spooners/index.htm

I too have every nook and cranny filled with glass. But since the NIL experience, I have started to gift allot of my finds. One recent bowl that was cut glass from Poland--gorgeous, about 1 1/2-2qt size.  I paid 22$(1/2 off :). Not sure of worth. I purposefully didn't try to find it. I wanted to gift it to my dear neighbor. It's real worth may have dissuade me from gifting it. I gave it to her the other night b/c they entertain allot over the holidays.

I have learned the fun of gifting glass is really heartwarming. The surprise of an unexpected gift that is just fun. My neighbor admired the bowl so much, then I said it was her Christmas gift early, so, she could use it for Thanksgiving and X-mas. If you could have seen her eyes and snatching it to her chest. Wellllll, lovely :)

The green glass in the curio. The pattern is OPTIC, I think. I'll take a look and let you know. Plus, I'll work on the bamboo etched glass. Try and get a close-up of your amber glass.  Also, the square amber dish in the bottom curio. Just learned today while looking for the trifle bowl, that older trifle dishes had individual serving dishes exactly in the form of your pieces. Trifle dishes were different than custard dishes. Take a close up and may be I can locate it. :)

Poor DS, I have too much stuff. I've suggested that he keep this house as a 'cottage'. He could never afford this property over in Tampa, if he marries--I hope- his new gal. They have many many life long friends here. It would be perfect respite. No encumberances. Would  be financially easy for the two of them. Lawyer and  she has a masters in finance. Yes, they will get a property eventually over there that is suitable. This would be a lovely place to relax and entertain family and friends on this side of the state.

My Mantra, since I stopped collecting Waterford--Sheila pattern has always been all my finds have to 'work' for their place in storage. That's why it was so funny to me about the Colony plate I posted. OMD, it's one of the rarest pieces in that Fostoria collection. Chit, now I'll worry about it.
