Ginger: That picture is ridiculous! Can't imagine how long it took you to clear off the car.

Hi Ann! Good to see you here again.

Cheryl: You are such a good person and I know Sid's owners wouldn't want anyone but you taking care of him. Give Sid a pat on the head for me.

Hello All. I actually got in a little shovel and sculpt today. We had snow/sleet/freezing rain so I shoveled the sidewalk. We might get more snow tomorrow. No walking outside for me today so I put in my walking CD.

Guess what: I lost 4 pounds while I was painting! We still have a small bedroom and an area in the basement to paint so I might loss another pound.

Congrats on the weight loss Wonderland! I got out of the shovel and sculpt today as I worked from home leaving DH and DS to handle that chore.

I did however get a 45 minute jog in on the treadmill plus 15 minutes circuit training exercises tonight after work. Circuit exercises included 200 flutterkicks, 100 butterfly sit-ups, 50 squats and 100 push-ups.

Now time for a nice Greek salad before a hot bubble bath!

2/17- end of the day walk for 25 min and already well over my 10K step with the busy day so far.

I went shopping today for some new spring pants and have dropped a size. Whoot whoot!

I am bushed! Today I went to the YMCA and first I did 30 min of aquatic aerobics plus 15 min of free swim, then I attended my regular livestrong class and did 10 minutes in the recumbent bike, 10 min in the sit down stepper and 12 minutes on the arm bike (6 min forward and 6 min back), after that I had lunch and then went to the mall (although in all honesty I spent most of time at the mall sitting in any comfy chair I could find). Back home and in need of some ibuprofen. Hope it's all worth in the end.

Ginger that photo is crazy, I don't know how you are surviving all that snow, I was talking to my Jam instructor and her DH after class tonight and they are heading to Boston for a big fitness convention this weekend and they are wondering if they'll even be able to get into town. Wonderland congrats on the unexpected weight loss bonus. Claire your weekend sounds lovely. Ann great to see you again and even better that you're keeping up with the exercise. Auroaya you really worked hard today.

Last night did awesome Body Combat class, we had a guest instructor in town from Singapore (on his way to Boston for the big convention) plus 3 other instructors taking turns leading the class it was a fabulous workout, tonight did Body Pump and Body Jam.

I don't know how I'd get anywhere or do anything with all that snow. We are spoiled in CA. I walked outside with my dog for about 30 minutes yesterday. My goal is to get a routine going where I walk or exercise for at least 30 minutes, 5 days a week.

Has anyone taken advantage of the Livestrong program at their local YMCA? Ours offers 12 weeks of a program, and I might call about it.

CassieCat, above your post is Aurora and she does YMCA Livestrong. Why not try the 12 week program and a good addition to your recent decision to work it 30/5.

I am new to this thread. I am 4 weeks out from BMX and today had my first yoga session since surgery. It was wonderful. My coworkers gave me three private yoga sessions as a get well gift. They are with my regular instructor who I have worked with for the last 3-4 years. She came to my house and we worked on gentle postures and breathing, staying within the guidelines I have been given & read. I would also like to start doing more walking, but with the windchill at 20-30 below, that won't be happening for awhile. I need to convince myself to use the treadmill, but much prefer to walk outdoors.

I have been reading this thread over the past week or two. It helps me stay optimistic that I will be able to get back to my previous fitness level if I can stay patient (not one of my strengths) and not overdo. I keep telling myself "slow and steady wins the race" Smile

Homer14, you will get there. Not many of us can claim to be patient but do we really have a choice - nope, so go with the pace that you can without hurting yourself. I also prefer to walk outdoors but I use my treadmill almost every night and it's gotten to be almost routine. Matter of fact, think I'll go down and jump on now for my usual 30 mins.

    Later my sculpted friends.

Homer- welcome to our thread and you do what feels good to you. We have all had to start from where we are and go from there.

homer, I'm right there with you in terms of surgery recovery. Only an MX for me, though. Walked to and from rads today, for about 1.2 miles total

A little bit of pilates and then some yoga last night. Was going to exercise when I got home tonight but we had snow and it took me over an hour and a half to drive home, so it was dinner time when I got here.

Homer14, welcome! This is a great group of ladies, all levels of activities and fitness. Whatever you can do is great for you! One year ago I could barely walk up a flight of stairs because I was so worn out from chemo. Now I am stronger than I have ever been (but still not skinny!!!)

But right now I need some good vibes and juju.....I think I am feeling something under my right arm pit. It's hard to say because I have lots of scars from surgical complications, but over the last couple of days I think I am feeling something new. I go to get my port flushed on Friday (I still haven't had it taken out, being cautious) so I will call the office tomorrow to see if someone can check it when I go for the port flush.

    Stay warm everyone!

Welcome to the group Homer. I know it is hard to be patient however just trust that you can and will come back stronger than ever! I know that I have.

Rhody, sending you positive juju and a gentle hug. Hang in there and know we will be with you in spirit Friday.

No exercise for me today as I had to run some errands this afternoon. . Hope to get back at it tomorrow night at boot camp.

Martha, let us know what you find out. It is probably scar tissue, but better to be safe than sorry.

Welcome Homer! What a wonderful idea your friends had with the yoga sessions. Since you are in Wisconsin, you will have to break down and join the rest of us Northern girls on the treadmill (or, as we call it, the dreadmill Loopy).

Welcome Homer! I am sure that you will enjoy your remaining yoga sessions in you home given the temps outside!! We are getting down to the teens here in Atlanta tonight. That may be a record for us.

30 minutes in the gym today - strength training.

This morning did my Sh'bam dance class and tonight did Grit Cardio, some weight machines and hit the sauna for 10 minutes

Martha, hope all can be resolved easily and quickly. Homer welcome and what a terrific gift. Hi Kindergarten, waving back and good to see you.

The Livestrong program is similar what I'm trying to qualify to teach here in the UK. There are so few cancer anything in the part of the country and the pink pilates I've helped to start, struggles to get women to participate. McMillan Cancer Support would be be interested if we had the proper qualifications. The woman I co-founded with Jennie, is a pilates/yoga instructor and has no interest in going through a level 3 exercise referral instructor or level 4 cancer specialist exercise instructor. She is a single mum of two young teens and can't give anymore to PRP and needs to focus on her own fitness business.

So, I'm finishing up the level 2 foundation course March 7th (final exams) and then onto level 3 that will finish mid-June. Trying to find a level 4 for late summer/fall has proven to be difficult, but I'll find one. It's been a challenge going back to learn, yet I'm enjoying it. Of course I'm by far the oldest (by at least 25 years) and the slim, beautiful young woman who sits next to me in class texts the entire 8 hours while I write copious notes and sweetly ask if we could go over that again, LOL. No pink pilates today as we take term break off.

Yoga this afternoon x2, once on the hill in the village next to my village, an Iyengar yoga class and then shoot into town for hatha yoga with Jennie at my gym.

LilacBlue....great work you are doing! So proud of you, and an important cause. Learning is also important, as keeps the mind as limber as the body. In terms of being the oldest at whatever....well, welcome to my life. There will be plenty of time for more "relaxed activities" later, and if not, I have spent my life doing what I love.

Did anyone listen to the exercise podcast posted on BCO last week? Fascinating, and explains so many things. Plus, reinforces the need to keep moving.

Downloaded pictures from my ski trip last weekend. Here a few to enjoy. - Claire

These pictures show Saturday's ski in what is called the Rendezvous Basin and views of the valley below. View from Sunday's ski in the valley....the Methow River. Monday AM snowshoe along the Twisp River with a log and my guy checking out the cougar tracks. His verdict was good and bad news: the cougar didn't drown, but that he was lurking around somewhere. No fools, they use the log to cross the river as opposed to swimming across. One immediately above is a pond near the Methow River. Fascinating as the top of a huge 1000' deep aquifer. We had the most amazing time.

Neat pictures, Claire. Love thinking about the cougars using the bridge. Cats are smart!

I haven't listened to the podcast yet but am reading Time Magazine's latest issue which is all about the research on longevity. I am not done with it yet, but here is a quote from Laura Carstensen (age 61) and the director of the Stanford Center of Longevity which says the same thing as Claire. "Oddly enough, I don't think much about chronological age. I do think a lot about physical and psychological health. I keep my priorities clear. Exercise and persistently trying to solve big problems is what keeps people sharp and makes life satisfying."

I did my Cardio Sculpt class this morning and going to Book Club this evening. So the exercise is taken care of.....I don't know if we will solve any big problems tonight, but we will try. Smile

Went to the Y for Livestrong class but also joined the aquatic aerobics (1 hour). Then did 30 minutes in the aerobic machines and 30 minutes in the weight bearing ones plus 10 minute stretches. Came home, ate lunch and took a 2 hour nap.

Gorgeous photos Claire. Such a pretty area to ski. Auroaya, great variety of exercise. Keep up the good work! Lilacblue, you are such a wonderful person giving back to the community like you do. I am sure you could run circles around half your classmates.

My exercise today was bootcamp...Shocking, I know....Tomorrow will be moving boxes around at work since our office is "restacking".

Happy Friday ladies and stay warm!

    Ruth, I love the picture!

Homer, welcome. Patience is hard but it's great that you're doing yoga only four weeks out!

I feel for all of you facing frigid temps. You get extra points in my book for persevering!

I can finally see some progress now that I'm 5 1/2 weeks post-chemo. I am able to run the hills in my neighborhood and my pace is improving. I'm also attending Pilates at the gym and can see some of my pre-cancer fitness returning. Today was a walk to and from rads followed by30 mins on the elliptical.
