Heard the Voices and got out last night to walk 30 mins.  Wonderland, you've reminded me to visit the little park on the outskirts of town.  There's a paved trail that goes along a field and into the woods. It's a pretty place to walk, peaceful, great place for flora & fauna (plants & wildlife).  Love seeing the earth wake up. ♥

DD and I walked almost two miles and treated ourselves to delicious gluten free coffee cake muffins along the way from a local bakery. Gorgeous morning here. Feeling happy. :)

    Yeah, Cassiecat to feeling happy!

Patoo what's next for you home-wise. Are you downsizing and staying in the same area? My advice is don't pack everything. I moved unopened boxes from two houses ago that never got opened at either stop! Threw out a bunch of stuff last summer when we got water in the basement.

Oh, Wonderland my dogwood tree that I left behind in SC would be beautiful today. It blooms the first week of April. Here I have only green daffodils and tulips coming up but no blooms yet.

I walked/ran today perhaps 50 minutes but not sure. What I do know is I walked 26 minutes with 3 periods of jogging and one sprint in there before I realized I had lost my phone. I turned around to retrace my steps. A lady I had passed earlier came my way and asked if I had lost an iphone. Phew! She restored my faith in humanity and made my day!

Got a bit of excercise today while doing a bit of Spring cleaning in my craft room. Still got more to do, but that's for another day.

Well I fell off my Superwoman perch this morning. One of my old instructors who moved to Colorado is in town and we had arranged to go to Cardio Dance Party this morning, then we ran to another gym neaby as they were having 'launch day' where if you're not a member you can get in for free to do Body Combat. For the past week I have had a reall strange stomach bug, I feel perfectly fine then I get a cramp in my abdomen and boom I need to hit the bathroom quick smart, well about 40 minutes into the class I got the cramp and left the room, came back but wasn't feeling myself so I packed up and went outside where I proceeded to get faint, had to lay on the floor then had to hit the bathroom again, people were concerned and management brought me Gatorade, 15minutes later I was fine just embarresed Snooze Oh and after a week of this I haven't lost a pound Bawling

hbcheryl, Yikes!  Hope you are okay.

I took a much needed rest day yesterday.  Didn't do a thing!  Thought my body would give me kudos but I woke up to stiff muscles and cranky joints.  Did a three-mile run with my pup in the jogging stroller.  Quite a workout due to major windy day.  Followed that with some Pilates and weight-lifting.  Off to a March Madness party shortly.  Go Badgers!

yikes, Cheryl, hope that is the end of it! We have had a nasty stomach bug with lots of cramping going through my school. Seems to have a relapse about 2 days after feeling better.

4/1-ran 3 miles outside. It almost hit 50 degrees.

    4/2-walked 4 miles

    4/3-walked 3 miles

Today- ran 3 miles in 25mph winds. It was sunny and I wanted to be outside. Felt like resistance training.

I use very upbeat fun music to run to, including uptown funk, shake it off, blank space, happy, best day of my life, roar, brave and on top of the world.

Cheryl: Oh no! Get better and take it easy. That bug needs to leave pronto!

Badger: Enjoy your park. Mine is not paved, it's crusher run gravel. One fourth is flat, one fourth is a small downward incline, and one half is an upward incline. I get a good workout.

Walk/ran today. I've been cooking all evening for tomorrow's Easter feast.

Hey Badger: Duke Blue Devils vs Wisconsin Badgers Monday night for the National Championship. I'm a Carolina fan (not Duke) so Go Badgers!

Cheryl, I hope you're feeling better. Sounds miserable. :(

Meljo, congrats! That is fantastic. :)

My parents are visiting, so the 5 of us took a nice walk after breakfast today for about a mile and a half so. It was a leisurely stroll, and the morning here is sunny but a bit cooler. It was very pleasant. Tomorrow I start my C25K program! I'm excited.

Meljo....major congrats! Way to go. Happy Easter to all who celebrate.

I am still dragging from the chest cold, so was 5-6 miles of walking instead of cycling. Got to look at all the spring flowers in bloom, and a gorgeous day.

Have a nice Easter lily to grace my table later from the procrastination sale at the local supermarket.

Spending the day alone, but that is just fine. Caught up with some friends via phone, and will catch up with my guy next weekend as he will have a bit more time. I can't wait to show him my favorite ride, and the countryside is just so gorgeous in the springtime. We should have a blast!

Think I am ready for a nap. - Claire

The family went out and walked at a forest preserve today that we had not been to. It was a beautiful spring day so we enjoyed it. The frogs were raucous and some beautiful blue birds were swarming. We walked 59 minutes. I told my husband we need to walk one more minute but he declined!

Nap is sounding good. I think the boys are planning on going to Fast and Furious tonight but I think I may shower and get on my jammies instead.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer 4 years ago today. These past 4 years have definitely been challenging at times, but I am happy to say I am feeling pretty good these days. I love the support on these boards and am thankful for the inspiration of the "voices" that have gotten me to the point of regular daily exercise!

Feeling your gratitude Ginger and you too meljo. Claire, hope the chest crud shifts soon and inspiring plan Cassie.

Yesterday, early Easter yoga class followed by an afternoon of lovely dinner with friends who live in a storybook house that overlooks the center green in a charming Kent village. Ate a Lindt gold foiled chocolate bunny too and experienced complete satisfaction. Beautiful sunny Easter Monday morning and we are to push off soon to Margate harbour, to visit the Turner Contemporary. Relaxed darling husband boasts it's a two Saturday and two Sunday weekend and today's excursion is his desire.

Congratulations, Ginger. 8 years ago I was just starting chemo and scared out of my mind. Never, ever, would I have thought that anything positive could come out of my BC experience; but good things have....including the pleasure of our friendships (which would have never have happened under any other circumstances) and the motivation to healthy, happy living that we give to each other.

Speaking of healthy & happy.....after we check in to the hotel on June 15, lets take a walk on that beach and eat dinner at the restaurant at the end of that pier!

Oh yes, here is something interesting from the American Psychological Association:

Exercise Fuels the Brain's Stress Buffers

Exercise may improve mental health by helping the brain cope better with stress, according to research into the effect of exercise on neurochemicals involved in the body's stress response.

Preliminary evidence suggests that physically active people have lower rates of anxiety and depression than sedentary people. But little work has focused on why that should be. So to determine how exercise might bring about its mental health benefits, some researchers are looking at possible links between exercise and brain chemicals associated with stress, anxiety and depression.

So far there's little evidence for the popular theory that exercise causes a rush of endorphins. Rather, one line of research points to the less familiar neuromodulator norepinephrine, which may help the brain deal with stress more efficiently.

Work in animals since the late 1980s has found that exercise increases brain concentrations of norepinephrine in brain regions involved in the body's stress response.

Norepinephrine is particularly interesting to researchers because 50 percent of the brain's supply is produced in the locus coeruleus, a brain area that connects most of the brain regions involved in emotional and stress responses. The chemical is thought to play a major role in modulating the action of other, more prevalent neurotransmitters that play a direct role in the stress response. And although researchers are unsure of exactly how most antidepressants work, they know that some increase brain concentrations of norepinephrine.

But some psychologists don't think it's a simple matter of more norepinephrine equals less stress and anxiety and therefore less depression. Instead, they think exercise thwarts depression and anxiety by enhancing the body's ability to respond to stress.

Biologically, exercise seems to give the body a chance to practice dealing with stress. It forces the body's physiological systems — all of which are involved in the stress response — to communicate much more closely than usual: The cardiovascular system communicates with the renal system, which communicates with the muscular system. And all of these are controlled by the central and sympathetic nervous systems, which also must communicate with each other. This workout of the body's communication system may be the true value of exercise; the more sedentary we get, the less efficient our bodies in responding to stress.

Cheryl- my family and friends have pretty much put it in the past and definitely don't get the significance of anniversaries. I am glad to have this community that does.

Ruth- I definitely handle stress better when I am exercising regularly.

I soooo wish I was joining you for California Dreaming but thanks to all the snow days we have to make up,that is impossible. I hope you guys post some pics so we can join in the fun from a distance.
