Tresjoli, I had a light show in one eye that interfered with my balance. It lasted about 20 minutes. Mine was a form of migraine. Never had the headache tho.
Tang, I think pain that comes and goes is ok. If it stays without remitting, I would get to the doc. My wretched back pain was finally (after 3 years) traced to a nerve in my neck. It did come and go, however.

Zills - Mostly I see bright blue box with yellow print on the net. I think Twinings is the only maker. Review I read said less bergamot and slightly more citrus (though the bergamot is citrus). I do love bergamot - on 2nd box of Stash Tea's double bergamot Earl Grey.

Several of us on here have ocular migraines. The 1st one I had thought surely I had a detached retina. On a lake trip and as I did the bit of chores I was doing it got better. Then couple of years later had about 3 of them in a day or 2. Time for eye exam anyway and my usual optometrist dx this. This is long after I started with glaucoma and my gl. doc agreed with the opto. I don't have the headaches with it though my DM, aunt, and GM sure had them badly. Still scare me silly when they happen. They are not fun to have shopping. I have had one out driving and not fun either. I do get more when stressed. Had not had one in a year or 2 then earlier in summer had about 3 and then none since then. The picture on this link pretty well describes mine. They always appear the same, like pyramids of broken glass, starting in a small circle or oval that gradually widens out and fades away. I never really notice that it's gone just suddenly notice that I'm seeing well again.

Saw this and thought about you Rose.

Hey Owlettes! LMG, we took the new car on a short trip to one of the Oklahoma resorts (did I already tell you this? I don't remember) called Roman Nose (named after a Native American chief, don't know what tribe). It was too hot to do much but rest and eat, so that's what we did. I've taken it easy the rest of the week, then went out to lunch with a friend at that new Mexican restaurant we found – did I tell you they have the best flan in the world? I had it again today. The owner, Maria, makes it herself, told me her mother's is even better. I said, that's not possible. Everything was so good. She remembered me and DH by name.
We had heavy rains this morning, big dog had to have his Thundershirt on. Wimp.
Hootie hoo Patty.
Off to bed.

Marlana- love the story of your episode fixing the toilet! I also cracked up over what you said your 2 dogs would have done had they been in the wedding! I could just picture it... whizzing on every chair and chasing with glee after the sea gulls - the ring bearer in flight! HahaYou are one amazing strong person to work so many hours after chemo.
Love the pictures from Ireland. Keep them coming. Spookie hope the machine works better after you use it for a while. Hi Patty! I went to the ER to get fluid off and while it took 9 hours... successs! I feel better, bruised and a little sore -but better. Happiness is having ascites drained. I have more options being off hospice and using palliative care, my medical insurance pays for more. I would have never understood that, had hospice not come out and explained it to me. Being a cancer patient means also being a savy medical insurance consumer.
Love hearing about everyone and what they are doing. I am not doing a whole lot these days, sticking around the house mostly, napping.. went out to lunch with kids today and that was fun. Howdy to all! Positively cold today, windy and maybe 68-70? I had a sweater on!

Luv, That's not what mine looked like. It was a bright slash diagonally across my vision with the jagged things shimmering in lots of bright colors. Kind of like a laser light show. It was interesting to look at, although scary because I didn't know what happened. Just walking by someone wearing perfume can give me an ice pick headache. In fact the ice pick hits before I consciously smell the perfume. Jasmine and gardenia flowers can also trigger headaches. Mom used to have vicious migraines that put her in bed in a dark room for 2-3 days at a time.

Glad to hear you are feeling better
It is crazy how happiness is relative. Thank you for the reminder to treasure what we have. Hugs . Oh hey, by the way I am reading Walking in Circles Before Lying Down....funny but sad at the same time. Thought it was a G rated book so I tried reading it to my DH2...oops. Caught it in time. Whew!!0 -
Rose-glad they got the aciitis drained and you are more comfortable. It is chilly where you live. Still in the 90s here. Ready for fall.
Hoping you are comfortable.

Wren, you saw the LIGHT??? Haha. The first time I had migraine aura was maybe 15-16 years ago. Didn't know what it was until I described it to my supervisor who had frequent migraines. I lost my peripheral vision. Could only see whatever was within the tunnel. The second time (2-3 years ago) was a zigzag pattern, then followed by progressive throbbing headache after few minutes. Scary and no fun. I think my first attack was stress induced and second attack was from repeatedly staring at crazy pattern blouse of a person who sat in front of me in church

Rosie! Glad you got some relief. When my grandmother was just about to turn 100, she had a mild stroke. She had a DNR but we assumed that meant no CPR but the hospital wouldn't even feed her with the DNR. So we took the DNR off and her care got much better. And yes, my dogs are entertaining--I have to walk them in the middle of the street or they have pee wars on every tree we pass.
Sas--that's a beautiful piece and what a deal! Is it a cake plate?
Loverly--I guess if you're in church, you really can't say "Excuse me ma'am, could you remove your blouse? It's causing me to have a migraine." And it looks like you're in for a hot week.
Tang--we just had the same discussion about paranoia in the May chemo group--we're all like that, sadly. Cool that you get to fly in a corporate jet...I'll never get to do that working for The Man but I have flown in the sheriff's helicopter and rode shotgun (which is actually in the front of the cockpit) in a Cobra helicopter.
Goats--does the thunder scare your goats?
Smarty--love the pics. How long did you stand in line for the Book of Kells?
I worked overtime last night and again tonight, trying to build my leave bank back up in case I need it with radiation. I'll be so happy when the warm weather ends and things slow down!

I bought tickets online and got in early. So no waiting in line. When we came out the line was around the block!
Hi Rose, glad you're feeling more comfortable. Too bad it took 9 hours.
Lover, glad to be missing all the hot weather. Only in the 70s. We're staying in today to see if that helps her hip. No fun when she can't do the same things with me. I'll see if I can get some pics of this place. It seems to be a wedding place, we've seen 3 already since we got here.
We get the car tomorrow then leave here the next day to Kinsale, which is south. We will be stopping at the Nat'l Stud and I get to meet FeelingFeline! She post all the time on W&F. She a crazy cat lady too.
Take care all

Hello Rosevalley, this my first opportunity to introduce myself, so G'day from Perth Australia.I have read a bit of your story in a couple of threads and so I am very glad you are feeling more comfy with the fluid being drained. Your hospice/insurance issues are horrifying but it sounds as though you are finally getting some helpful info that can help you make some good decisions.
I am loving the pics of Ireland, weddings, paintings, centrepieces, verge gardens, beautiful little girls, glassware and *ahem mushrooms. A pretty talented and interesting bunch seem to hang out on this thread.
I am cooking the family dinner from scratch tonight - another step forward for me after relying on them and others for a couple of months. It has been an amazing day weatherwise. Still winter here and we had 80. A record temp for Perth in August. We will have some cooler weather before spring truly arrives, but it was lovely to sit out on our deck today and feel the warm breeze. Trust me, I won't be saying that in a couple of months when we are getting the 90+ temps again.
For those interested, an article with a background glimpse of one of the white sand beaches Perth is famous for.

Perfect weather for a chilled Chardonnay with my roast chicken dinner methinks

Hi gals! Wren, and someone......... I have those Ocular migraines about 3 times a year? Last time was when I was driving home down a winding mountain road........ I just saw 4 yellow lines, not two... crossing over each other.... I just drove slower and kept the other car in view.
I've had those wavy sparkly lights, and can't read with one eye... and yes, about 20 minutes or so it is gone.... I just thought this last one was because i had 3 drinks in 3 hours, WITH a Starbucks... but I didn't drink when I got the other ones... I don't have the head-ache either......

Tresji.... Is that what you think is going on? Don't be scared.......... After about 30 years or so of dealing with this crap, you kind of get used to it, and just go sit down, and let it pass........... I've never had one driving though.... And it was just like double-vision......Not so much the wavy flashy lights.
Yes Jazzy, I would like to be the Matriarch of something..... Ha! My DD just sent me a web-site, supposedly a live showing of that Corpse flower when it opens here at the Botanic gardens... still nothing so far!

Smaarty - Wow what a library. I had to google the Book of Kells. See there are some YouTubes of it.
Rosie - so glad you have made a decision that is good for you and will get you help. Yes hospice is not the place if you want palliative tx. Yes heaven help someone who cannot navigate the sticky wicket provisions of insurance.
HaHa Chevy so we are tuned in waiting for some stanky flower to bloom.

rose--so glad you have some relief! Crappy it took 9 hrs. Take care

Jacfin, Lovely beach. Texas beaches have nice sand; the ones here have rocks.
0 -
Thank you Wren. The beaches of our WA (As Western Australia is known) are lovely. Although for much of the year we get a southern stream of cold water from Antartica which makes the water very refreshing!.
I have very fond memories of visiting Texas. The only beach we saw was Galveston. But we also enjoyed the river walk in San Antonio, and a visit to the Blue Bell (?) ice creamery, and some of the more remote towns north of Houston. Not to mention a fabulous basketball game featuring the Houston Rockets.yeow Min ( giant Chinese born player) was the star and my daughter was given one of his shoes. It was too huge to carry home so our hosts got to keep the pair. Great fun. We fell in love with Texas

Oh Owlies, you've been busy.
I had a nasty experience this am. 4:45 am watching tv. The phone rings. A mate of DS's name and phone number's on the screen. I know they are in Savannah GA. Of course go into panic mode thinking. He doesn't respond. I'm thinking it's a butt call. No way to confirm it. Can't break the connection. He finally comes on. Then DS get's on the phone. Are you Ok? Are you in the hospital? Not yet. What? It's okay, I'll explain in the morning.
Now the explanation is this friend was toilet bowl hugging drunk. Called DS in another condo, to come help (odd , but that's what DS said). DS home phone (mine)was under his current phone in friends cell. Somehow I was dialed. These guys are all local and friends since the earlier high school years, spread over several states now. They're all now 30. He's taking allot of ribbing this morning. I told DS to tell him I was going to tell his mom. That should make the ribbing even worse.

And Sass, this other thing is going around Florida, and probably everywhere, that you get a call, and supposedly your Son/Grandson has been in an accident, and they need money to either get them out, or help them out! This happened to Sheri, got a call from SOMEone that knows their name, and will scare the pants off of you............
These "kids" will drive you nuts sometimes!

Tresj. iPad Induced Flashing Light Syndrome. Can't put two ing's together. I did actually predict after being introduced to Tetras, that a problem of the MP joint of the thumb--knuckle of the thumb, would be identified as Nitendinitis of that joint. Some months later someone published on it.. Please, still do the logical follow through and have and eye exam too. I'm guessing the Mo scheduled you for a brain MRI. But that doesn't mean a structural thing in the eye couldn't be happening concurrently. You need rule outs of both areas. It's the safe thing to do.
You can see from everyone's posts that flashing lights are common. But as I said in my PM. New Onset things need to be investigated. Certain systems and symptoms are more important that others as to how quick you push your doc for an evaluation. Essentially new symptoms from the neck up fall into the need to be evaluated promptly. Ohhh could go one forever. I've cringed when I've read over the years BCO members all over the board saying to wait two weeks. Not good.
I have many mantras. I told you one of them was " if you don't know what something is, give it up to the next higher(knowledgeable) person" You tried, but the stupid office person blew it. She had NO authority. She should have simply scheduled you, without comment. Only a doc in the scenario you were in was the higher authority.
I used that same mantra in training nurses and medics as part of the decision tree when dealing with patients.
Another mantra in the decision tree was "can this kill the patient (or me)". That allows a thought diversion to seriousness. Helped Medics and nurse work the critical nature of a presenting problem i.e chest pain scenario.
Some problems can wait, some can't. Putting those two mantras together work amazingly well to work a problem. Should have published them.
Yoo Hoo MAGS. Please, if you will share your story.

Marley, punching toilets. Did you make an incident report out? I think my plate had a dome b/c they're is a little rim. But maybe not b/c it's pressed glass versus cut. It's always amazed me how good pressed glass can so closely mimic cut glass. That Arched Fleur De Lis is a good example.
Patty, heard you were on the Bone Mets board. Didn't lurk. What's the plan?
Chevy what neighbor threw out the pots? White Rhino? Good stuff? I'm in the que to get Windows 10. I figured my tech buddies are only a phone call away.
Smarrty loving the pics
and stories!Tang your daughter is precious and beautiful. The old age comment was meant that we all have aches and pains with every day we get older. Pre BC we just groaned. Now we think mets. Sorry, It wasn't clear.
Hi Eyeore
The corporate jet is a rental? Got it.Zills do you know the name of your pattern? Can you post a pic. I think it was Hi1's pics I couldn't find. Sometimes I can't find things. But I love the chase and I learn allot on the way.
Rosie, glad you got some relief.

My first optic migraine in 1988, I followed my mantra>>>neurologist and opthamologist. Neuro result: MRI negative, determined to be optic migraine. Doc wanted to put me on Inderal(beta blocker). Asked if they're was any harm in doing nothing. He said no. I said I would just enjoy them. He so wanted me too take a drug.
Eye exam identified a beginning cataract

Spookie, I did a no-no......I picked up something off the floor without being sure............Ewhhhhh.

I can only imagine Sassy.

This is the house next door! Can't believe how a guy could furnish it so beautifully! And he has spent tons, not only for the furniture but for the landscaping..... The fence alone cost $10,000..... I think he has overspent, and is in danger of losing everything.... that's why they put it up for sale....
http://fusion.realtourvision.com/idx/717771
Sass, I have no idea where the pot pots came from!
People from outside "the city" bring their "stuff" over here, so they won't have to pay to have it removed. We get the dumpster pick-up every week, down our alleys in the city....

Oh I was thinking doggy product. Ants better but of course it poured yesterday (1/4") and DH zapped the foundation with bug killer. Now having minor spider invasion. Threw one out the door last night and finally - horrors - killed one inside. Think they are smallish wolf spiders.
